DM Title: Exemplary Dungeon Master of the First Circle

Player Experience Points: 1157

Well... have been around and about NWC for about a year now (it don't seem like that long really... just forever!).

I both play and DM - as I find doing a mixture helps both, and both are enjoyable. Primarily involved in campaigns - co-DMing one, lead-DM/modding another, and playing two (one weekly, one fortnightly), though I have been known to run the odd one- or two-shot game in the past, and could be tempted to again in the near future.

Emphasis is on RP all the time, and trying to build, and maintain, an atmosphere and life in the world that draws the players in, really making them feel like their character is an integral part of the world, rather than just "passing through" To acheive this, as a DM I like to weave intricacies in the plots and sotry arcs around character history, making the world really matter to that character, by having their childhood friend, nemesis or parents show up (for example). This is harder to do in a one-shot, and the one-shot mods I run tend to focus on an RP driven, RP-solved and intricate plot - even if often based on a simple idea.

As a player I seek the same kind of sense of involvement, of importance in the world. I tend to RP by feel - rather than thinking "what would my character do?" I assume the mindset when I sit at the keys and just do... type what FEELS right. Not afraid to inject any emotion into the game, if it suits or to tackle issues within the group... PC-PC interaction is the mainstay... and the emotional relationships, confrontations, friendships, disagreements, fights, laughs, wheelings and dealings between party members is a big focus.

I just love this game, and it's unfortunate the campaigns I was playing in have stalled for now. That said, it's leaving me with more time to devote to my campaign, which despite some problems holding onto players long term (due to their various RL commitments) is growing nicely. I'm honoured, in fact, that people have heard of it, and what I'm trying to acheive and have actively sought me out about player spots.

I must give great thanks to my co-DMs for that game - Felrazor, TOJ and Cowman - and to LB who designed a great mod for me to use as a springboard for my own ideas as when I started running this game I had no tooling experience.

Also just come off duty from organising the IRC side of NWCon, which was, IMO, a great success. Tiring work though.
