Despite the slightly chaotic business of getting everyone onto the server with correct haks, the game eventually got off to a truly flying start. The atmosphere of the areas was absolutely spot-on: the first in-character area of the motel exterior really piquing interest with that great dark-green fog colour scheme. NPCs were excellently done without out-casting the PCs. Plot-wise, we've already been thrust headlong in, and with the incorporation of our backgrounds into the entire milieu, it all feels very involving. The action was well balanced as well, and was awesome fun. Overall, I simply cannot wait for the next session - this is shaping up to be one damned good campaign!

Last session of the 3.5 years of the QFG campaign. Burrie's sessions are always well-prepared and there is always something done for each individual character in the sessions. The last session was no exception since it featured a movie with the fate of the main NPCs and the PCs. Thanks for all your DM-ing efforts over the years.

This was one of the best sessions I've played. It had memorable NPCs with loads of personality, some well balanced battles and most importantly an excellently designed and scripted dungeon with some interesting areas and puzzles. While playing in this session I completely forgot about the football WC semin-finals that were going on at the same time, and well...that says a lot about how fun it was.

Another great game from a great DM.

This was an effin' brilliant session. The best part was quite obviously when we managed to talk ourselves out of the boss-fight by convincing the bad guy that you can't redeem yourself by killing more people.

The plot was phenomenal, it struck just the right balance between giving us good clues and keeping a great deal of mystery. And the treasure we found was logical and fit well (plus gave me a chance to show my RP side by not taking 400 GP from a sarcophagus).

All in all, one of the best sessions in a long time. And even without any combat what-so-ever (well uh... any serious combat, that is).

Great NPCs, an interesting plot, a good pace, a lot of attention to player character backgrounds and an excellent mix of roleplay, combat and puzzles - all of this makes for one of the most enjoyable campaigns I have played in.

It was great! The undercover gameplay was a lot of fun and slightly unnerving, it was generally amusing to be a troglodyte, the savages seemed like actual living characters, the improvised dungeon raid was smooth and atmospheric (I can't believe you made that in 15 minutes!?), the way you handled our requests with the genie minogon was hilarious and a great intellectual challenge (which I failed and Amiga solved nicely), and I was totally freaked out when we had to run out through the savage town.

A great game! With one session, you got me hooked on NWN again :D

Was a good show for your first DMing performance. The NPCs interacted well with the players and gave out the necessary information when needed, also for the most part the use of skill rolls was well done (don't be afraid to pause the game if the players are moving too fast). Good game - Loc

A truly unfolding tale my friend. Very great how AK, Jonas and you prepared this for us, without the others even knowing. Kingly done. Also a magnificient trap using the new scripting functions. The poison fog looked real to me. It really helped building tension up to Marcus' explosive rescue. And Jonas' character fell perfectly in. Nothing than pride, my friend. I feel special to be in this campaign, and I must say it's been one of the best sessions I played. Only to know what the campaign will hold in the future, I am thrilled to continue! - Play Mate

Been a while since i've reviewd a game, but I felt I *had* to this session because it was so great.

One of, if not the, best sessions yet! I had a blast RPing with the others and like always, you handled things excellently. Even allowing us to split up and do our own thing. I'm still amazed you can do all this alone and still allow us the freedom that you do. Saw some beutifuly designed areas tonight that were filled with atmosphere and interesting NPC's. Oh and the plot twist!! Wow, never saw that one coming! Too bad we won't have a session next week- I can't wait to see how all this turns out.

Looking forward to many many more sessions.

OMFG! Why can't I rate 11 on the Overall score!? This was BEYOND perfect. This was the best roleplaying I've EVER participated in! It sent shivers down my spine! The plot came together perfectly, and I WAS PART OF IT! They all hated me! It was perfect. I love you. FOR GOD'S SAKE BURRIE, MARRY ME ALREADY! (sorry)

Well Burrie, it was seen better. It was still quite enjoyable, but I think it'd have helped considerably if Indouz was there and your server hadn't crashed... twice. Better luck next time! Oh, and careful with that script... blowing up players by accident is bad mojo (even if it's an interesting twist) ;D

Well another top notch game. Especially the whole cat scene was great. I really feel the players are in command in this module and the DM just adjusts to the player group, which is great - Play Mate

Fantastic NPC's, as always. :) A frustrating week from a character point of view, as we're getting nowhere fast - no doubt all our own fault. :P

Again, I'm speechless! I've already voted you in my top 5 best DM'd games. Again, I am honored to be participating in the first play of this campaign. You are truly pushing the roleplaying potential of NWN to its limits! Congratulations.

This was an excellent session of what promises to be an excellent campaign.

I enjoyed the way the orderlies were roleplayed as extremely stupid near automatons focus on their assigned tasks, how they would get stuck when their clothes caught a nail on the furniture and such. Makes one wonder how well this place can run, though.

The nurse with her mouth sewn shut was also delightful in a morbid sort of way and the strange forces that works under the cloak of invisibility and behind the walls were very nicely done aswell.

The design of the areas with placeables, lighting and sound did alot to make one feel in a an old haunted asylum, which was great and with the above mentioned NPCs and 'ghosts' it really worked to create a mood appropriate to the setting.

Overall great work to both designers and DMs.

Another great session. Great NPC and module work. I enjoyed exploring the infirmiry very much, and can't wait to find out more about the asylum, and it's cast of twisted characters.

My only gripe is that with the standard /tk channel party dialogue, it's easy to miss information, however it does add to the immersion of the game, and also let's us talk behind other's backs.

An amazing concept and extremely interesting mise-en-scene. Meaning it's as much fun practically as it was supposed to be theoretically. Too bad the NWN engine can't really show the shifting walls, the lurking shadows or the flickers of light that we experience. Although even so, my imagination is really fed yummy goodies :) I don't know if anyone can understand what I said, but bottom line is I love this campaign so far, even though it will likely take FOREVER. (even better) Great job, guys. Luv you all, Anya.

Another excellent game, but you guys don't REALLY need me to tell you that again, do you? ;) Only reason I'm reviewing you this week is cos I wanted to let you know how annoyed I am with myself for not having thought about the possibility of it all being a set-up! lol

Yet again, Death & Co. shines through! An unbelievable session with a lot of depth to keep us guessing.

They made excellent use of both common and unique fantasy elements to create an atmosphere that really tends to be quite chilling.

12/04/04 8 10 10 7 9 10 8 10 10 9
This was a great game with the right atmosphere. I loved how the DMs used tells to build fear, tension and a mark of madness in the group. Excellent stuff. The few NPCs we encountered did lack personality though in my opinion. Perhaps that was IC for them but more emoting would have been nice. All in all, a very fun game!

12/03/04 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 9 10
This was one of the most memorable games I have ever played. The atmosphere in the asylum was spot on, the characters were colourful and expertly played. The DMs were always attentive to the players, and fair in all matters. The equipment we recieved was completely in context with the situation and the whole game ran without a hitch.

Easily a candidate for my top 5 DM list, an oustanding session.

Thanks for running this.

Finally we got an opportunity to play again! And with an almost full team, at that. It was great to give Ghaldar another opportunity to live a little, and tonight's pure RP session was very funny. I love the way you saved those few building bugs we encountered, and some of the NPC encounters were hilarious. In particular the two discussions we overheard in the market place cracked me up, and Simon takes the price as the best NPC you've ever created. I'm serious. GREAT session, Burrie!

11/14/04 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
Another great game, continuing nicely from where we went off. The reintegration of the missing party member to the group was... interesting, shall we say? ;) Very pleased you decided to do Keris' outburst then, it was perfect timing.

Unbelievable! Finally out of that maze and into the frying pan. Tiriel and the skeletons, the ghouls, the zombies...I can't wait to see more of the 'life' down in the sewers.

11/14/04 8 10 8 10 10 10 8 10 10 9
I loved the atmosphere, I loved the focus on roleplay, I loved the plot, the npcs and the design. Overall it was a great game although it felt to me like some players got more attention than others and the challenge wasn't as tough as I expected, though I guess it was just the first session - getting warmed up and all. I am looking forward to the next session.

11/14/04 9 10 9 10 9 10 10 10 9 10
A great first session. The NPCs were brilliantly RPed, and the environment brought to life with touches such as carefull attention to lighting and custom music.

I did find this first session confusing at times, but you mentioned that was your intention, and no doubt things will become clearer as we progress.

I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the Asylum, and can't wait for the next session.

Great Stuff!

*looks at the row of 10's* Hmm, well, I guess that's a fair review, seeing as I can't fault you on anything! :) You're hard-pushed to keep up with BoPeep for outright shock-horror value, but the slower, more insidious nature of the Asylum's psychological horror works at a deeper level I find. The best bit of that adventure by far, however, was the chest - I thought that was hilarious! (Shame that my character was feeling thoroughly freaked out at the time and couldn't appreciate the Terry Pratchett-esque nature of the situation. ;)) I also appreciated the total lack of DM input once underground, as that really added to the sense of isolation - a good move on your part.

11/06/04 9 10 10 10 10 10 9 10 10 10
Finally, a little combat action! Just the right amount in the campaign to make things interesting. I don't know how much praise I can heap on the DMs that I haven't already in my past reviews. Amazing plot! As usual, life like NPCs. It just downed on me this session how much I enjoy the opening music. Nice

11/05/04 10 10 10 10 10 10 9 10 10 10
Unbelievable! It honestly defies words, and no rating system in the world could describe it. The mystery, the horror, the illusions - basically a dabbling of fear mixed with an enigma of smoke and mirrors. Only a group of talented individuals like Death & Co. could leave me sorting through the bits and pieces, trying to tie the ends together even hours after the session has completed.

11/05/04 7 10 8 10 10 9 8 10 8 10
Great use of the maze to add the earie feeling of walking in circles. This session had a morbid 'Alice and Wonderland' feel to it with all of the strange places and happenings. Splitiing the party up... Spooky, spooky! That over the shoulder view works wonder when your alone with creepy rats the size of your boot.

11/05/04 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
Once again the DM pulls of an amazing game... the plot thickens, the confusion is total... wraaaaa! - this is like watching the best movie, and then someone pause the movie, JUST BEFORE THE END!!!!!! *ARRRRHG*

Cant wait to next week and next session of the horror in the manor..... *Shivers*

Another amazing game. Atmosphere was truly realistic. When Nurse Anne caught us we Dolt my heart sank with the expectation of having to return to my cell. The transition to Cell Block E blew my mind. I was never expecting the exterior scene or illusion? NPCs are as creative and realistic as I've seen. The talk chat fits perfectly and I'm glad everyone decided to keep it. This game is definitely heading for one of my Top 5 best DM'd game slots.

11/10 for the NPC's, actually - they were great! Each one was definitely unique, each fitted perfectly into the game, each was thoroughly freaky. Definitely one of the best games I've played in. You guys are very good at conjuring up an atmosphere of dread: it makes a (pleasant?) to play in a game where you really do fear for your character's life. And, like any good horror story, I'm nervous about what comes next, but I *have* turn the page to find out...

well boys good game there, yeah knew we were'nt going to find a way out first game hee but figured that anyone and anything was better than waiting for nurse Ann. to bad tha others didn't keep going, bo peep would have except for the warning don't venture alone *grins* but takes one to know one and she's got nurse ann's number. Loved the rp with girly girl as I called her..and so it's daddy's friends patrolling the corridors at night, how sweet, hope dracul is enjoying the family reunion guys..:) "five six..gotta pick up six" what's left of him.. *storks nurse ann's thigh" what beautiful soft white skin you have..not really suggestions I would make actually, thought everything made great sense start to finish..you did give us a way to make a start, after all with the key, and when we didn't well..as bopeep says about nurse ann..LRP

I have noo idea how you guys managed to do this one! There's all these players, all over the map..running everywhere.. the hunters a much more evil group as a whole than the hunted hee..the hunted, trying to get what they need without being evil about it (which is darn hard let me tell you!)...then there's dark anya with the twins, malachi and Pilgrim misplanting info on the monestary.. and you fellows picking up on all that.. accomidating all of it for us! I honestly don't know how you did it!. Because it was smooth, and seemless, and coordinated, and as if one person were dm'ing it.. not all the ones of you there! You did a great job, I don't know how you so coordinated everything :) but you did...and yeah to bad zax didn't get to that dragon...LRP

Finally, I got to play in a Death & Co. game. Was about friggin' time! And what a fun fun time it was! Loved everything, and the fact that the DM's were right there all the time and never let us go around alone (though we all split up like rabbits in the hunt). Anyway, NPC's were very believable (especially the two twins - haha) and everything ran smooth and seemed almost like a race. Loved it.

Definitely an intense RP experience! I'd recommend the adventure and the DM team running it to anyone thinking of taking part. I guess I'm (unfairly) as hard on the DM's as I am on myself: I expect much more from you than I do from the players, and in this game you delivered. Great job!

DM was good with the NPCs. Had excellent dialog. The orc-speak between two players should not have lasted as long as it did however. I can't wait until we play next.

Great game you guys, and for me probably a splendid challenge in that I am such a verbally oriented player, rather than the most skilled of fighters.. The warden and the tasks he set for me, could not of been more daunting, challenging and fun to play! I really thought I'd ever ever learn vic's town or Isengir's age, the other two being very easy. You did not overwhelm her, but sure thought she was dead there, the encounters not overwhelming, if I stayed calm and thought it through, and it is hard not to panic.. when you've no arms, guards right behind you, stink beetles to the front of you and a giant spider blocking the exit.. I had a blast, but then it played to.. the tasks what I feel I do best.... thank you for that! LRP

Though the game started late. I still believe that the experience was excellent overall. The DMs dealt well with technical problems and got us going regardless. The entire adventure was edgy and my heart was actually pounding for some of the sequences. Death & Co. is the way to go my friends. Excellent job!

As always a very good job with the NPCs, and bringing the plot forwards.

You could probably lean back and relax the first hour of this session, but then suddenly you had several groups to deal with when Urraka retired and Toran suddenly left the inn.

Great work as always. -- Virthe

I particular liked that I saw now the goblin caves the others spoke of earlier, and it is all getting linked now, which is superb. Though what I liked less was the axe flung that hit Marcus and then it didn't. Maybe I should have warned you in advance I was going to fire it, but I really would have liked it to just hit him (evil me ;)), they were about to rest anyway and it didn't really matter. But otherwise a great plot and it really thinkens now. I don't know who is evil and who is not - Play Mate

[Burrie's reply to comment: The axe that did hit but actually didn't is a plot point. It did almost connect with Marcus Bimm, but it was seemingly deflected by something when it came close to him. It did not have to do with the fact that I don't want any PvP or the like.]

I guess it was some time since I made a written review comment. So here goes.

The best about Burrie's campaign is simply put the level of character interaction allowed and permitted.

Things like PC history, custom gear, and even player made areas are incorporated and comes alive in the game. (All these things takes time to inlude, but each session there always seems to be something new in these areas.)

There always seems to be some surprises to heighten suspsense. The last session there was the unannounced return of myself, and a sneak goblin attack. (You really got me by surprise there. Player was as unaware as character that there might possibly be some danger ahead, or behind us. :) )

The latter will perhaps make some of the other party members less likely to take along my character for a nice stroll with no weapons or armour whatsoever with her.

The Challenge score may not be completely fair, but it's based on the one fight we got into, where a group of goblins almost completely eradicated us :P

I know it was mostly a mistake, so better luck next time.

Quest For Glory. I like this half-freeform campaign. I really do. You obviously possess creativity, I love the speaking placeables for one. The NPCs are played with a great flair, I think you should get a BIG as well :P The setting and custom content is great as well and a great break-away from the FR games. The game is top-notch as always, though as always I like to bring some ideas myself: the NPC PC like I already suggested would be cool imo. A bit more choices. Not related to this particular quest, but it would be very nice to i.e. have 3 places where we could get some mandrake root or have two persons that know of a cure. Of course in builder terms it means more work, so you will have to see for yourself, but choices are the thing most games today still lack :) - Play Mate

Nice plot advancement this session Burrie. Finally, it feals like we have some direction, rather than just muddling about the odd quest here and there. Not to say that previous quests wern't any good, just that things seem to be picking up now. And as always, NPC's were great! Only downside was the lag which caused me to have to miss a tough fight with some mountin lions, but thats more due to my crap connection I'm sure. Looking forward to next session.

The interaction in the game has mainly been between party members the last sessions. Still a well done job of the NPCs you create and choose to interact with the PCs with.

Party has been struggling to advance the plot and figure out what to do, but perhaps we will get to that too.

Great game. I enjoy it every session. You get a nine on the game design for the elevator. Found it very fun, even if it needed some polishing (but you already have my comments on that).

I enjoy your openess to player ideas (and how you anticipate different outcomes to situations) even if it requires some building.

Good game Burrie. The mines were fun and challenging- esp for little ol' Tarm, maybe a little too much so. Either that or we need to come up with some better tactics, I don't know. Those spiders were sneaky! I enjoyed the chance for some RP at the end. Just remember to add more placeables.. or not necessarly more, just make the ones there usable. Looking forward to next session.

Absolutely a memorable session. You seamlessy incorporated my character into the group, with its own quest, just superb. Challenge was good, tension of possible death always around. And the NPC's had excellent personalities. Too bad about that one faction issue, but solved as a professional DM :) - Play Mate

Excellent game, Burrie. I really like your freeform style and how you always let us do our own thing (ie hiding in the coffins). The dream world was great and a nice surprise and I esp liked the surprise I got when I found the flower to still be in my pocket. And again, excellent ending! Good stuff all around.

Excellent game Burrie. I really had an excellent time with the NPC's. Great stuff all the way through with Kaspar and especially the healer, Ms Applegate. I'll look forward to seeing her reaction when she figures out who we really are. Good stuff, and a great ending to tonights session- maybe we'll see some action next week :P Either way, I'll be looking forward to it.

Some very nice imporvision by Burrie for our first game. The little quest start us out with was very well done (and as I understand it, very quickly done as well, good job!) and I enjoyed how it all came about.. it seemed to fit. NPC's were top-notch- every one of them seemed to have a distinct personality, all the way from the little old lady (my favorite) to the Rakashas (can't remember what you called them). We are off to a very good start, I think :)

The plot thickens indeed. Let the speculation begin! I can't help but wonder what that one chick is up to (the one who wants us to get the tressure, sorry can't remember her name at the moment); there seems to be more about her then meets the eye. Thats good that you get us thinking. I REALLY liked how when we got back to the inn people were inquireing about our adventures; its nice to be noticed. I don't usually see that in the games I play. We ended with some nice, intense combat which was much fun. Good game.

You two did an AMAZING job of handling some extremely tough PC curveballs. I doubt either of you expected Silver and Sara to take off into the depths of the cult alone, or for Hodish and the two women to form a sudden wall of steel to prevent Rodon's passing. Great recovery from what was basically a TPK as well, in such a manner that (had I not known better) I would have presumed it was MEANT to happen. :)

Resting restrictions seem only to slow play. In modules not built with resting restrictions, fights are balanced to be tough - it is better to simply let people rest, no fuss, we still die in some fights.

Burrie, what can I say? This campaign has more twists than a coiled serpent, and I'm waiting to see whose throat it's going to strike for next. I love the way you had those people communicate with Silver, driving her to a state of questioned sanity whilst the others looked on in confusion. Then that kicker of a blow by revealing [yeah, like I would say it an spoil it] and turning the world upside down on Relak!

BEAUTIFUL job Burrie...truly.

How do you rate your DM? Well, the obvious things. You could have taken charge more before we began, pushed us to get to start. And having the NPCs favor some characters and not tohers is a bad I idea - you want to keep the party together. But overall, it was very good - realistic NPCs, good mood. Nice!
