And so concludes a great campaign. Ghool really did a superb job with this module. It is atmospheric and mysterious with lots of challenging puzzles and good encounters. It lends itself extremely well to multi-player play. Thank you, Ghool, for a most enjoyable campaign. Tuesdays just won't be the same after this.

[Ghool's reply to comment: It's likely I shall not return, unless something as easy to use comes along....with a FULLY functioning DM Client....or at least a complete game that's moved beyond Beta. NWN has lost it's lustre for me, and NWN2 isn't filling that gap. Farewell, for now.]

Smooth sailing today. Little too easy because we found all the shortcuts. Hope the long way is more difficult. Liked the surprises popping out in the secret rooms and the obliviator thingy was cool. Hope the Lord of Eternal Darkness is no pushover. Cheers -- AV

Thoroughly enjoying this mod. The best compliment I can give is that every session is miles too short.

Fantastic session, once again Ghool. You've got a winner on your hands with this module. Everything flowed smoothly and the eye candy is great.

I'd suggest that there be some sort of marking on the key for the quest we missed or some area description or an automatic suitably high spot check to notice the difference in the statues or sarcophagi or wherever it is the quest giver is.

Thanks for throwing us some tougher combat this time round. As always great game and looking forward to the next session and the Tower. Cheers -- AV

Even though these sessions are only supposed to be a beta run-through of the Temple, tower, tomb mod, it's turning into a full blown campaign with excellent character interaction.

The mod is very well designed. A rogue with good disarm trap, search and open lock skills is definitely needed. The area descriptions in the server window are immersive and prepare you for the experience. There are no flaws and the only thing I can think of to enhance the experience is to have a better background score.

This session was quite easy challenge-wise and I'm looking forward to what Ghool has in store for us in the future sessions. Perhaps it wouldn't have been this easy if no local vault PCs were allowed.

Lastly, Ghool is an attentive DM and is content to go with the flow. He responds well to the PCs actions and is very helpful as far as thinking outside the game engine is concerned. Hope to do a proper campaign some time in the future with him. Cheers -- AV

So far so good :) Was the initial session so we had only an hour or so of actual game time. I think the mod's excellently designed. Each area drew me into the world, especially the beach before the temple.

Combat was balanced. Can't expect mind numbingly difficult situations at the outset of a crawl, but was perfect to test out team roles.

The puzzles aren't unique, but well scripted and presented. Looking forward to seeing them increase in intricacy.

Overall a fun session. Cheers, AV

Playing in several of Ghool's games and bug tests has given me a great experiece for how skilled he is, both at DM'ing and designing. His modules are, quite simply, the best. His DM'ing is outstanding. The players in his games are always great RP'ers. You cannot go wrong in getting one of his mods or playing in one of his games. (and no, I'm not being paid to say this.)

Once again, Ghool delivers a strong performance as both game designer and DM! The NPCs *were* alive, and the plot was intriguing. Traps and custom content are absolutely top-notch! I look forward to completing this mod, and seeing his future work!

Some fiendishly difficult situations were encountered due to an array of specially scripted traps and creatures. It doesn't do to drop your guard for a moment. Ghool and Dane definitely keep you on your toes. As close to a PnP session as you will likely encounter. Great game and a great DM team.

I've been in many, many campaigns, and all of them have been a great joy to play in. But I have never before been in a campaign that has entire AREAS and encounters designed around the individual player. Ghool's designs and modules are top-notch; this is a known fact. But until you've played in one of his campaigns, you just cannot appreciate his skill and talent as a DM. Another outstanding session that leaves me in a

A wonderful job of DMing from Dane and Ghool. The game was simple but immersive due to their handling and possession of the NPCs, who truly came to life as real personalities.

09/07/06 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9
Ghool is the *man* when it comes to DM's. He runs an extremely fun and fair game! And even when all of my PC's hopes and dreams for reuniting with his lost love are crushed, it *STILL* was fun!! :)) The story he weaves in and among the normal plot is fantastic. One of the best DM's out there.

08/30/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
I can't say again how thankful I am for when I can actually make session. ;) It really is a pleasure to play in your game, Ghool, and I only wish my schedule was more forgiving.

I patiently await the movement of the game time to a more open period.

Ghool did an outstanding job, especially considering he was the only one of the DM team present for this session. I'm looking forward to the further adventures he has planned after we finish up Firestorm Peak.

Once again, the DM team rocked! We're playingf through this (and a subsequent) module to find bugs, so under 'Stability' I gave it a neutral rating ... but everything else was 10's!

Kudos to all of you for a thoroughly enjoyable campaign session once again!

ANother great session. The way the DMs work background info into the campaign is amazing, and extremely well-done. My hat's off to them again!

07/06/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
I have to say this was certainly a lot of fun this week. ;) Even though the DM doesn't have a great deal of say in the matter, group dynamics among the players help make for a very good campaign. And so far there seems to be just enough conflict to keep things interesting - but everyone still working together.

If anything, the players that came into this campaign is the real badge of honor for the DMs!

[Ghool's reply to comment: You ain't seen nothin' yet. I'm just getting a feel for the group, and I have yet to unleash my onslaught...bwahahaha!]

The DM Crew of Ghool, Skeenyman, and Olias did an awesome job in this first session. They didn't lead the party around by the nose, but threw in several things that definitely kept the party occupied and in-character. The unique item granted to my PC was a perfect compliment, and was well-based on his background. I am very much looking forward to the campaign! Keep up the great work!

06/27/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
Definately a fun start to a promising campaign! It's hard to remember we're trying to pinpoint bugs and problems because even though the Cutscenes were a little broken, nothing else seemed to be giving us any trouble. ;)

Bravo! The module design was amazing. The attention to detail was stunning. Ghool should be designing modules professionally for BioWare. Again, I don't know what to say, I've said it all before. Simply amazing! I'm speechless! I could write a novel worth of praise for this campaign and module design.

[Ghool's reply to comment: Well, I will be submitting my illustration portfolio to Bioware in april...so wish me luck, I just might end up working for them anyways! ;)]

As usual, our sessions our truly excellent. We have finally entered the actual Tomb! :P The interiors are truly beautiful to look at and the traps are very deadly. I feel we've only just scratched the surface of the Tomb. Also, nice work showing the individual player's own 'subplots' in the game. I look forward to seeing the progression of those as well. :)

What can I say that I haven't already said! A very accomodating and fair DM. Since the DM is also the designer of the module, he knows the game inside and out and it shows and makes for one of the most joyous games I've played among NWN and PnP. Extra kudos (who doesn't love that word?!) for tailoring the plotline to the backgrounds of the individual characters.

Again, I have to comment on the special effects of this module. I loved the dripping blood spots on the ground; the reflective nature of the walls in the salmon filleters' lair, the butterflies around the muse. The attention to detail in this module never ceases to amaze me. Taking the time to give

Session 4. I don't know what else to say about this module that I haven't already stated! Amazing! This has proven to be the highlight of my NWC experience. Since the DM is also the module designer, I just want to comment on some aspects of the module. The wizard's shop was amazing. Some would have designed the room with only the NPC. You designed the room with moving objects, placeables that could be examined, familiars flying around, a moving musicbox... Throughout the campaign,

I enjoy this campaign more each time we play. Ghool is a Master DM. He knows how to make you think, and he uses all the tools at his disposal to get the most out of the NWN engine. outstanding job...LION

Quite possibly one of the best long-running campaigns I have been involved in. What I especially like is how you challenge not only the players in gameplay, but you challenge them through roleplay as well based on their own background. I also enjoy the occasional bits of comic relief that we see amongst the dark and grim horrors that the party must face. A very difficult module, but still a very satifying one. I am fortunate to be a part of it and thank you for allowing me to play. :)

11/01/04 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 9 10
First, even though the campaign has not been completed, I still have no regrets adding Ghool & Decider to my list of Top 5 best DM'd games. The game realistically imitates my experience with PnP D&D games. Although I have never read nor played Tomb of Horrors, I am curious to read the module after campaign completion to compare the two. DMs are extremely fair in all dealings and in the amount and kind of treasure awarded. The module is challenging and requires the use of tactics & brainstorming yet there are ample opportunites for roleplaying. A fine balance between RP and hack-n-slash. The trick taking one player's weapon and putting it another's pack was beautiful. That is something you can do in NWN but you can't duplicate that in PnP! Of course, as has been commented by many others, the door scripting system is Hall of Fame material in its own right.

One minor suggestion, I would like to see the death rules enforced a little stronger. It seems that when characters die, they are resurrected fairly fast without the aid of our cleric. I would like characters to stay dead for a while longer forcing the team to have to use resurrection/raise dead spells etc. If the entire team is killed or it looks like the task cannot be accomplished, you, as the DM can raise the dead (divine intervention I assume) or restart the game at that spot. It just seems to add a bit more realism to the game and forces the players to think combat situations for fear of losing XP by dying. Just a suggestion based on my playing style.

Again, standing ovation for another fun session!

[Ghool's reply to comment: I think the death system has to do with bleeding and stabilization, and it seems this group has been rolling really well in that regard, as well as the chance for Divine resurrection. The Bleeding system is very forgiving, and I'll most-likely make some more adjustments to it. As for actually dying, the party has been rolling very well for Divine Intervention as well. There is only a 10% chance of getting Raised as a result of the Gods taking notice. Not to worry though, I'll definit]

Having only played 2 sessions and having yet to complete the module I feel the DMs deserve the #1 spot in my Top 5 DM list. The module, S1-Tomb of Horrors, is amazing and to have it DMed by its designer, Ghool, makes the game even more special. Ghool's DM partner, Decider, deserves an equal amount of the DMing credit and both are doing an amazing job. They have incorporated the personal backgrounds of the characters into the module making the game more than just your usual NWN adventure by elevating it to a personal level giving the players a unique gaming experience. They also roleplay in the players' roleplay forum! The module itself, is complex and difficult requiring alot of thinking and planning. The enemies have personality and you sometimes get the feeling you're in a PvP game! So far, this is the most fun I've had in multiplayer NWN.

We're just starting this module and getting used to each other. Thus, this review will be like trying to review the appetizer of a full-course meal. ;) I liked the setting of the game and thought the desert people who have seen one to many eager puppies of adventurers go through their territory in search of the Tomb was well played. I also liked the attempt by the DM's to bring an element of fear into the game and to give the players a sense of the 'willies.' I must say I'm really glad to be able to play with this team of DM's and can't wait for next week.

Wow, OUTSTANDING job by both DMs. Such a smooth combined job, I could not tell which DM was running the show. Great intro to both the plot AND the party. I love the way you guys animate the NPCs and really make them come alive. Yes, there is some team dynamic issues, but that is what made last night interesting. A great plot which will most certainly get better. Had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next tidbit. What a refreshing return to roleplaying. A totally immersive environment.

Just a little suggestion....if Calad is such a nasty place, you may want to prove it to the group. Right now there doesnt seem to be any fear of Calad's environs within the party. No fear = No need for protection. It may help solve some of the group dynamic issues.

08/13/04 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9
cool neat o game fellows.. you really did a great job of presenting a seedy port town, and it's easy to get the gist of corruption and all manner of a sense of a society that is rank with the stink of rot there. And the kids have a lot of getting used to, they've run into evil but not evil scum of the earth types such as the captain. Yeah the baron knew about going with the beggar, he's not stupid but he was rather hoping for and spoiling for a fight.. and *grins* he got one . Very good job the both of you! yeah and people like Draven have their uses, and Sarah most of all but the other to, have much adjusting to do to "civilization" LRP

all in all, a great start to chapter 2 guys! Obviously a mountain of effort here, I AM duly impressed! As always, the characters are just about as colorful as any I have ever seen. The whole scenario in fact is quite convincing. If you'd like me to nit-pick a bit: the encounters were a bit on the difficult side. The ghost ship would have been better had it been moved farther up along our ship, inline with the cannons ;) so it would have seemed more like we were hitting it LOL. Thats it. Great one!

You might also want to know, for 'rp/character' purposes: when Alex put her arm on Love's shoulder, it was to slip him the requisite 1500GP ;)

First session and WOW...loved the undead attacking the boat !! Great story and loved the way the mod looked and felt. I do forsee some challenges with my PC being NE and the rest leaning toward good. I try to keep the tension hight but the plot moving. Looking forward to next week.

What can be said about Ghool and this mod? NOT ENOUGH!!! The mod ruled, the DMing was great and the custom creatures are some of the most imaginative and challenging I have ever encountered. The traps are SO devious and deadly that it makes you afraid to click on anything! Be afraid... be very afraid. This mod is a Hall of Famer for sure. My hat is off to you, Ghool. Job well done.

What a great finale to a wonderful campaign! Ghool kept us guessing all the way to the end. The beauty of the module design is truly incredible. Ghool pushes the toolset to the limit, making NWN as if we've never seen it before, without using a single hak. The battles and creatures were innovative, but above all the tension kept building all of the way to the end. The finale was every bit as epic, deadly and wickedly evil as one could possibly imagine. Truly an amazing game! I will remember it for a long time. Thank you again Ghool!

08/01/04 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 9 10 10
Ghool tailored the adventure to two players characters beautifully, racheting up the tension by adding betrayal, dreams, and divine intervention that may have intended to manipulate the players--or may have been true portents, while leaving both PCs involved profoundly conflicted and transformed, and the rest of the group truly confounded. I felt it was a brilliantly diabolical roleplaying twist, a surprise beyond anything we imagined. I loved the module design as well: the Tomb of Horrors is a beautifully atmospheric, devilishly tricky and well-balanced module. Throughout the game, Ghool's DMing made a sense of menace become even more alive and personal. While playing I could almost feel the gloating presence of the archlich. Thank you Ghool for an extraordinary evening in what has been a wonderful campaign!

Simply the best session I have ever had. The situation with the Necromancer added so much to the mood and tension that I doubt it will ever be topped!

I consider it a privledge to have been able to play with Ghool. He is truely a talented builder and DM of the old school.

[Ghool's reply to comment: I'm humbled by all this praise! The players certainly made it fun too. :)]

Hands down the best campaign i have played in. We played this mod without a DM for a few weeks and then Ghool came on board. Viva la difference. Ghool is my top fav DM. And his mod is very, very good. Tomb of horrors being my fav anyway I may be biased. Thanx Ghool.

Ghool is a master! One of the best gaming experiences in my life. The module, Tomb of Horrors, is excellently designed and well scripted. The door scripts alone are a piece of work worthy of the highest praise. I gave you lower marks on treause only because I was hoping to find something specatcular in Acererak's labratory... but oh well, maybe his spellbook is someplace else ;) This module really benefits from a DM, as well. Since it is highly trap/trick/puzzle oriented the ability to do Skill checks and *examines* really add to the immersion. We are really happy to have you a long and very much look forward to the next session.

Words cannot begin to describe how great it is to be playing again and how much I've missed our sessions in what is one of my very favorite games, I love Brother Love, the pc is just a blast to play, and the story so intriguing like peeling off layers of an onion, and I just every game is .. something to look forward to.. I'll be thinking on your generous offer there as re the Baron, you take care fellows.. LRP

what a truly wonderful game, and a great job you two! Low on action, high on RP - all very well done. In perspective, we have had other games that were mostly RP - but they were often very slow moving. This one was not like that. There was tension. It was busy. There was never a dull moment! A great, great story with a very open-ended feel to it.

Its just too bad we are going to be stuck in that stupid cave until we all starve and die! LOL...

Ohh jeez but I love playing for all of you. Ghool as always your mods are such a visual treat, when you asked about porting me, no way did I want to skip the walk up, that's how beautiful the land is, *laughs hard* and though they needed me I kept forgetting to hurry so much it did make me want to stay and look. You guys and your building abilities are amamzing. But the story, OMG how much more amazing is that?... What a lesson the preacher had brought home with those men keeping the other fellow alive, and the journey through the entire castle, quiet a lesson being learned there. What can I say except I've been gone far far far to long from you all and never again to let this much time pass without playing with this group, that are not only fabulous mod builders, but amazing PC's and dm's, which comes from being a great storyteller and writer. I love all of you!! Ahh someone on my top five..move over LRP

Great game guys, had a good time with it, and Brother Love's introduction was handled very well.

The plot thickens... As always, the NPC's are excellently done. The gnomes were the best this session. The way that the two interacted was humorous, even in a tense moment. A lot of fun. I had a little bit of difficulty understanding what was going on after the gnomes died. Suddenly everything went bonkers with the animals and undead. But I suppose confusion is an appropriate reaction to that. Maybe things will become clearer as we talk with Willo next session. Great game again! IJ

Nice evening. Ghool's riddle was a nice touch... even though I didn't understand it all. We'll chalk that up to Troll talk. Putting in a riddle that isn't scripted is quality in my book. Couple of comments: In regards to building- it was tough to navigate in the forest (which I suppose is appropriate). Lots of trees and rocks in the way that made it harder to traverse. But no biggie. Little bit of lag here and there. But no biggie. As always, the NPCs were very good- all three of you did great with them. Good job moving the story along with the NPC's. And I loved Daryl and my other brother Daryl, Decider. You played them well. Fun night.

A really, really great game this time around. The swamp was just confusing enough to make it challenging and interesting. The battles were well balanced and fun. I consider it 'time well spent' to say the least!

Fun game again. I'm glad we're out of the swamp now, though. I think you did an excellent job of directing the combats and keeping things moving. I really enjoyed the personal touches. Keep up the good work.

A very fun session this time around. A bit rocky on some late-game stability, but the 'do-able' monsters made all the difference between 'fun' and 'frustration' for me. Thanks for the great session!

04/02/04 9 10 9 9 9 10 8 10 10 9
yet another great game. A bit unbalanced at the start, but once into the 'flow' of it, all was perfect! And the landscape? SPECTACULAR! I have never seen its equal anywhere!

03/30/04 10 8 10 10 9 9 7 8 10 9
overall, a great game guys! Some lag issues really took away from the fun factor, but still very well run. The 'personal' touches, as always, were absolutely incredible! Allowing a bit of 'outside the game engine' playing worked really good too.

Let's see, we started out chained to the floor. We were then beaten and dragged out one by one to horrible painful experiments. The result of which is that we were all changed in ways we don't yet fully understand.

Yeah, I'd have to say, "A good time was had by all."

Nice work, guys, keep it up!

whew-eeee! THAT was really something! I know a bunch of "10's" looks impressive, but in this case, especially regarding story and game design, the 10's really don't do it justice.

The tension was so thick.. you could taste it! (but don't taste the soup!) - all the little touches, so, so, well done. A great, and truly memorable game guys. Thanks a lot!

I guess I'm at a disadvantage not ever having played the PNP module, but I have to say the game went really well. The 'monsters' used tactics which made it really challenging especially to a group not accustomed to working together. I can't wait to continue.

03/22/04 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
Great game ! I enjoyed the group but I am trying to get more tactics out of them . I prefer to try to do something new than just rush in and attack. But love the mod , I may be asking you questions on how you did some of the stuff. I am just starting to build ,

Thanks

[Ghool's reply to comment: I'm always open to helping any one with questions! The module should be posted on the vault very shortly after this session. Send me an email or message me on the site if want to know about how anything was done! :)]

Where are the rest spots? For 3 hours we couldn't find one?

Otherwise, The game layout was refreshing and challenging and I look forward to more.

yeah, well, it was about like I expected.... FANTASTIC! Man, this is a great game you guys have going here. Super players, and great mod, and of course the 'lively' npc's all about. And the ever-present personal touch is the icing to top it all off (with 2 'chefs' cooking this up for us, I expect only the tastiest of treats of course!) Keep it coming I say! I'm not full yet!

Nice game...my only complaints were that the roc attack was a bit sudden...instead of an attack, the area just suddenly changed, and I didn't know what had happened until we saw the rocs later (because they were above the character's head, they were hard to see). Also, the kid that bit my character automatically threw my character into a fight, when I would've rather ignored something trying to put teeth through metal armor. But, other than that, nice game. --Rofelli--

I thought this was a great game. Pure RP is not for everyone, but for one night, it shouldn't be a problem. Except for seeing that darn penguin the whole night... JUST KIDDING! The interaction with the town was wonderful, and really made it feel like a genuine 'small town'. My only comment on the NPC's is that I expected to see a bit more from the 'parents' and questions about our daring quest. I also felt split up from the party quite a bit (basically, that we were all in differnt places, doing differernt things - which is ok in a way, but lost a 'party feel' there) Great job though, and a great effort to make our world 'come alive' - whats next? ;)

03/11/04 9 9 10 10 10 9 9 7 8 9
Overall a fun game with very good rp among the pc's and npc's. Things did seem to be a bit too tranquil. If this is the "calm before the storm" -- excellent job. If we're going to have lots of nights like this, then it's going to get dull very quickly.

There were some very funny moments -- Willo tangling with a goat, for instance, and some annoying ones -- for heaven's sake, turn off the sailors!

Oh, and while I enjoy using the weather as foreshadowing, the rainstorm is getting a bit overused (not just you, everyone.) How about a windstorm instead? Or a heat-wave? Drought? Several feet of snow? Ominous clouds that continually sit on the horizon? Or maybe all the fish have gone? It's devastating for a fishing village if the fishers come home empty handed day after day. I think with the wonderful village that you've created, you have an excellent opportunity to present other "impending doom and disquiet" through the villagers themselves.

A great game! We really felt 'settled in' this time around. Even though we had already been to the caverns, there was just enough difference to make it interesting. My only criticism this time was that I did not like being 'jumped' from place to place. It really takes away from the RP. I realize there were some time issues, but I would still rather just 'walk' where I am going. thanks agian, can't wait for the next one!

03/04/04 10 10 10 10 8 8 9 10 7 8
RPing the beetle enounter with Sarah was nicely done, since you found ways to include everybody. My only complaints were that: (1) the no mini-map would be fine if the cave wasn't so dark...we can't see the passages, and clinging to the walls, while realistic, is annoying in a game; and (2) the fights are way too tough for first level characters, even with DM raises...and 1 XP for fights that brutal is a bit frustrating. Other than that, you three are incredible DMs --Rofelli--

A very, very good DM team, indeed! The scenery is beautiful and lively, the plot is unravelling almost painfully slowly, and the improvised superstition based on the floating tree was funny, while accomodating the bug that every builder has made at one point or another. Two games, and you guys got into my Top 5 List. Looking forward to my Wednesdays now. --Rofelli--

This is just simply excellent. To take a module we are supposed to play testing and then weave in the player character's dark histories to a point where you forget that you are even playtesting is superb. The problem is that although I can relate the tales of my companions, Ghool's and their roleplaying is almost drowning out the marvel which is the tomb itself. I did say almost. The Tomb of Horrors, when released, is undoubtedly going to gain the same infamous reputation it had in PnP with a whole new generation of RPers through the medium of NWN. You have been warned.
