Just when I thought I’ve seeing everything PC surprises me with his great DMing style. Each NPC had a life of his/he own, but what amazed me more what the fact that each PC has the opportunity to really shine in a particular way during the game. A honor playing with you.

What can I say about Poetic Colossus that has not alreayd been said several dozen times? The guy is a FANTASTIC DM! Ran a game that easily ranks in my top 5 games ever played - and I've been playing since the get-go under various names. NPCs? What NPCs? They're all like player-run characters! The depth of storyline is outstanding. The execution of movements and timing is perfect. He's the MAN. If you've never played in one of his games, you have no idea what you're missing. 'Nuff said.

The session was well organized and it was obvious that the DM had done a good deal of preparing before hand. He knew the NPC's, knew the layout, and had plenty of triggerable set-pieces for sparkle.
The DM wasn't pushy about moving players on from one section to the next and didn't contrive situations to force the players onward against their intentions.
XP was award with reasons given and all bonuses were explained. XP was awarded for real accomplishments and not just handed out to meet some kind of XP requirement.

Amazing campaign with a great finish.
Character arcs were a nice touch.
Keep thoughts for a sequel on back burner, but don't jump the gun right away on it. Too much of a good thing, and all that.

What a time to open up reviews again, eh? Lotsa server side problems this time it seems, with people dropping in and out left and right. And then the notorious faction glitch. You covered that fairly well though, all things considered. Also, one more thing I'm wondering about- was Debar given a saving throw? Wasn't that a spell that a saving throw was possible? It would have taken a natural 20 though.

The setting magnifies the eeriness of the plot. There are ample opportunities to screw up in the name of right and good. The NPCs make it easy to forget they are NPCs and roleplaying with them demonstartes the expertise these DMs have with NWNs and the story. Amazing details!

Great game! Good plot and excellently balanced between fighting and roleplaying. The character-driven subplot was also very well done, as were the NPC's. Definetly going on my top 5.

I am sorry to have rated your game low on some points, but I felt that one player over took the story of the game that it became all about that player. I enjoy that atomspheric setting, the mood, and Jander's story, but I wish I could have had time to roleplay with my other fellow players a bit more or at least see some situations where others would have gotten a chance to shine. I did see our fearless leader at least given some opportunities and appreciate that very much. However, I feel overall, the fun factor was disappointing.

This game was for a group of new players to NWN. The DM's were great and had a lot of patience. If you are looking for someone to help you learn the game I highly recommend them. Based on this game if your a seasoned player I believe they can run a great game or campaign.

Welcome Back Tarridus! You guys did a great job (again). The game is becoming more and more challanging for Quakers character. He set out to deliver a message to a Captian. He has since been swept away and hasn't found much justification is remaining with the party other than the fact that the other characters need him. In character i have mentioned that Quaker is coinserned about the monistary and if Joshera would want him to continue with the party. After seeing 6 companions fall (Allein Manasi, Kaethera Brightwood, Erina Yerrothy, Trentas Heartwarder, Tuane, and now Mirby) He is begining to wonder and question his purpose.
Great job guys
[Lilivati's reply to comment: Player turnover is a beast that plagues almost every campaign, unfortunately. Still I'm glad to see your using it for some positive purpose.]

Hrrmmm review.. without spoilers heee hee..surprisingly not hard..I've started signing on for the one shot here and there...and PC and Lilivati disappoint in only one thing..*sob* the second mod ISN'T READY..OHH NOO.. I love games that support creative, non combative solutions..this is indeed a mod for dm's..I can see what latitude of freedom it grants the dm and the party..the apporaches are myriad..consequences of actions far reaching..not always apparent til the end, or as I suspect, until further on in future mods..I was very lucky to be playing with tremendous group of players, Mulu, Felstein, Skeeny..OMG it was an all star cast, of some of the best players at this site, and PC and Lilavati..just rose to the challenge, were so outstanding, both flexing with this fine group and telling a touching and sad story, setting the tone right from the start with that poem from Keats as the players ported into game..a game I will remember of a long time, and I mean it, and gonna hold your feet to the fire PC to get that next mod done *grins* and invite the same cast of characters back for Chapter two.. in this grim and spooky land.. Lilivati shines through again - vibrant NPCs, a great plot, and kept the party together, even when it seemed they were about to split (for perception issues). I especially liked the overbearing, secretive female mage - even though Sojen does not have even the most remote trust for her, she was well-played and gave him a real run for his money.
Kudos to you again!!

As a DM myself, Lilivati, is a roll model of the kind of DM I hope to someday become. I have come to expect an great story every week and She is always ready to deliver.

Mood and feel of Ravenloft are dead-on throughout. The dim rain works well, although the constant near-blackness of the adventure can get wearing. Excellent use of placed sound helps alleviate this.
(Suggestion: Light the camp more warmly - let it feel like a momentary break from the dark, and change the entry point slightly so the PCs walk past the fire and through the celebrants to get to the caravan. Slightly more soft lighting in and around the grove won't hurt either.)
The layout does an excellent job of _feeling_ large without actually spending hours trekking across random forest tiles.
NPCs were well portrayed, varied and very interesting. (Loved the play off Taren and Phanthos in the grove!)
DMs responded well to special actions or requests by PCs.

This was certainly one of the best games I've played. The module was well-designed and smoothly run. The DMs kept the party moving through the plot in the alotted time for the game while still giving attention to each major encounter and possessing important NPCs. The NPCs were played in a way consistent with their situation and goals, but also made an effort to interact with each of the players. Overall, great DMing job.

Had great fun. I rarely play evil chars but decided to try for this game and had a great time. The DM's gave me lots of options without me having to endanger my position within the party. Had a great time, constantly recieved little messages which told me what I was sensing as I travelled and it really added atmosphere. Some great npc's and lovely use of effects at times too. Rolls were made by the DM and didn't intrude on the game. All in all a great job.

The game started well and had great atmosphere, but then it got bogged down with lots of walking around and standing around. The material was well done, I'd just look at finding a way to push slow play along. This becomes more important in games that are one shot and have a fixed, limited amount of time to play.

Great game as usual from one of my personal favorite players/DM's on NWC. Given that the module was not even her creation, she did a fantastic job bringing it to life.

Initially there were some problems with the server and one character could not log in and join the mod but after the first 30 minutes, everything ran smooth as silk. This accounts for my late to start vote. However, in the DM's defense, I think that the players (myself included) my have logged on with not enough time to create a character, level up, and purchase equipment. Future players should definitely log on at least 30 minutes prior to game start time for character creation.
This is an amazing module! Put your thinking caps on boys and girls for this one. The time limit of 4.15 hours was perfect for this one shot module and I was disappointed that it ended. The DMs were amazing and created some very interesting NPCs. Their (re)actions all seem appropriate to the varying situations. The module's look, feel, & sounds were very appropriate & original.
The players worked well together considering this was a random selection for a one shot mod. Roleplaying was particularly well done and everyone should have received a best in game award!
I am happy to say that this session is my first ever vote for a Top 5 Best DM'd games. If anyone has the opportunity to play this mod with these DMs by all means do so.

Game was fun and went well after early technical problems. Mod was a little tough, but DM's created a great environment so fun was still had by all. NPC's were very lifelike, added good personality to game, and players were given some opportunity to act outside the engine, including DM driven skill checks (good feature). All in all, a nice way to spend a gaming evening.

I enjoyed the first half of this one-shot adventure. A twist in the plot and some creative ambience made for an entertaining time that was easy to roleplay to the extreme within. However, after a mistaken direction given to the PCs, the adventure took a turn for the worse. An encounter with a pack of wolves was so difficult (perhaps you should require more than one fighter-type?) that it made the players question whether or not to continue down the plot path. Once at the climactic conclusion, most of the players died trying to fight...yes, perhaps diplomacy would've worked, but even so - it seemed as if either the foe was too difficult or the party ill-equipped to face him. I understand that the lack of experience amongst the others PCs may have contributed to this ending. After all, they seemed to not even grasp the HCR basics as they let teammates bleed to death as they stood and stared, failed to cast spells when fighting began, failed to cast buff spells before fighting, failed to heal those who were fighting (and losing), and generally failed to do much of anything to assist.
[Lilivati's reply to comment: I will grant that the directional mistake made for confusion, though every effort was made to correct it. As for the wolves, you were forewarned that the encounters would be difficult, and of the need for strategy and tactics. The party rushed in without either and enjoyed the consequences. That lack of strategy plagued this party throughout the game. Despite that, in the end only one player died (not most as you stated). ]

Lili had to go the battle singlehandedly and we were none the worse the wear for it. I suppose I could rant on about how impressed I am with my protege, about how far she has come as a DM, blah blah, but then I remember she's the one teaching me things every week! I'm the protege! :) Nice job! PC

With Tarridus sick, I expected the game to be a little less vibrant than our last session. Amazingly you pulled off a great round. Sorry if I messed up your little shutting door but you should have made the lock DC higher (considering I was a thief). I loved the Inn Keeper and I don't understand how almost 90 % of my rolls were under 5! I hope I can stay the extra five minutes. Signing Off.
-HP-
[Lilivati's reply to comment: Believe it or not, not everything in the game is planned out ahead of time. Some things, such as locking you in the room (or trying to) are done "on the fly". That's why us DMs need to ask for a little help from our players from time to time. :-)]

Oooh Very good. Very enjoyable. This was definately the best game I've played on NWC so far. The whole atmosphere was very tense and I really felt vulnerable out there (at least I had my trusty Holy Symbol!) Sound was used to great effect and really added to the tension (the wolves howling in the distance, the screams from within the cave etc). The NPC were well-played, interesting and unique. I really liked the ability to customize our clothing at the begining, so we all looked great :D Good job, and I'd love to play in another of your games (hopefully in the near future!)

Wow...that was one of the most immersive experiences I have had playing NWN. Outstanding storyline, flawless roleplaying of the NPCs, evil surprises, and transitions that were smooth as glass. I found myself in a cold sweat playing this game. Anyone who has a chance to play in a game DMed by Lillivati and Poetic Colossus will NOT be disappointed. Simply outstanding in all aspects. I only hope for the rest of your sakes they decide to rerun this again as a one-shot. BRAVO!!!

This game was ridiculously good. There were lots of atmoshperic moments as well as excellent roleplaying situations and lovely scenerey. The DMs handled everything really smoothly, even when some actions we wanted to take might have (accidentally) messed up their plot. They made us all feel a real sense of accomplishment for our actions and penalized us in such..... interesting ;)... ways that it actually made the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely one of my top games and top DM teams.
Good Job!

My god, Lili, I don't envy you for all the crap you had to wade through, to keep a split party functional.
Dispite all the glitches that you claimed to have held you back, I still had alot of fun ^_^
Now when do you want to draw straws on who has to DM next? Or should we just let Tarridus have a go at it, by default, once this whole Evan'ilsuul chapter gets done?

Truly enjoyed the session. Many thanks for giving me the opportunity to participate. You both did a stunning job with the NPC's. You both bounced in and out of the NPC's so quickly that they appeared to have life. I also like the starting area, very unique...& when you sit on the DM mat and blow up...well I have learned my lesson..hehe. There were a few problems with the server (I have never been in a game were there is not some problem with the server) but you both remained calm, solved the problem & eased us into game play. Thanks again...truly looking forward to next week.

For the First Session with all the Roleplaying and no NPCs I had a great time. Although we did have some troubles at the start it does occasionally happen. You switched from NPC's with practiced ease and you played them extremly well bringing out their personalities like I've never seen before. Hope I can make the whole sesssion next time.

DM's,
An excellent game! I hadn't played NWN in awhile and this was just the game I needed, thanks. I thought the NPC's were well roleplayed, I especially enjoyed the village guards (if Vadim was on the other side of that gate would have been trouble). The game was well organized and you two handled all out of the box things well (moving the book case for example). My only complaint is that I wasn't able to see the game through to the end. Great game guys and I hope to get in on some of your other games,
Vual

Very good game! The atmosphere set the mood in a Ravenloft mod perfectly, with dark lighting and dreary settings. There was a constant feeling of fear throughout the entire game. I dont think that could have been done any better. I like the fact that many in game die rolls were made that the DM's used for tells and such. This gave the game a PnP feel to it. I personally prefer to make the rolls myself, but in a Single Adventure of this nature I beleive this would slow the game down too much, so being able to see the rolls you made was the next best thing. There were not an abundance of NPC's but the ones there were rich with personality, especially Jander. I enjoyed how descriptive you were during his posession. Well done! I eagerly await the next session, and I'd like very much to have Regan and Kron team up together on that one if at all possible. Send me that invite!

Probably one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played in. I have to confess that I didn't like stumbling around in mist and fog much, but I think it was mostly due to my computer settings and the novelty of the environment to me. I am glad that you both still continued even though we lost half of our party till it was just down to two players. I still enjoyed this game, although I had the feeling I didn't see the complete story because of the server crash and the necessity of having to start over my character (I wonder why I keep forgetting to export? Gah!). Loved some of the dramatic scenes that took place in this run, including ones I am guessing were not planned for. Hope one of the characters wasn't too upset when Regan slapped his hand! See you both soon in another game, I hope!

[Lilivati's reply to comment: This comment and the one above it are both in reference to the "Storms of Faerun" game, which has multiple DMs and storylines, and is the creation of lostzac. I was not a DM on lostzac's storyline but I second the reviewer's sentiments.]

I love the effort and ideas behind it. So many storylines at once, with the idea that groups of players are working against, with, (or even without the knowledge of) one another.
I can't wait to see things really develop.

This by far is the best session i ever played with this people, and when Lili starts to DM and make plotlines for each of the character it is more than amazing, i kept guessing hows the fate of each of the players going to unfold and Lili brought them nicely fitted to each character characteristic and personality. I just felt sorry that Lilivati has to take care all four player at a different places at once, that must be tedious, i do hope that you find a co-Dm that could work with you and your brilliant ideas. Great great job lili :D

Wouldn't miss a game like this for the world. Sure, none of us are perfect in it, but it's been a blast. It's amazing how a RP centered session can feel more epic, and memorable on a character by character basis, than some long-stretching campaigns do. Good story writing.

What can I say? Another outstanding session. I think this was the first one where I got to see Lilivati in action as a co-DM. Her RP skills ROCK ... the dragon Arangadia was truly everything a mentally-unstable dragon should be - my hat is off to you, miss!
[Lilivati's reply to comment: Hrmph. Just because PC handles all the skill checks... :) Anyway, I'm glad you liked her; she's one of my favorites.]

Loving the game, but as adventure endings go this one was kinda grim. :) I know it's just a lead-in to another campaign, so maybe we can't expect any 'closure.' As it stands right now, we seem to have unleashed a dragon and her young on the region. In a battle between two evils (Vico and Aria), we seem to have somewhat arbitrarily sided with one against the other. Did our actions save the town? Did they do anybody any good? Or did they just enslave us to do this dragon's evil bidding for the next portion of the adventure? Maybe these were the questions you were hoping to raise, but right now I don't feel like we 'solved' that adventure, and I'm not sure what we could have done differently for a better outcome. ---CH
[Lilivati's reply to comment: I'm sorry you feel that way, and sorry I wasn't there for most of the last game (damn schedule conflicts). PC and I rarely share the same vision of Aria, and as she is primarily my NPC I feel responsible for her actions. You destroyed the cult; you accomplished your task. The matter of the dragon continues over into the next adventure- it was meant to provide a transition of sorts, rather than an abrupt change.]

I gave a lowered fun level, but it was not due to the dm's or the module. It is just hard not to be bored when you are lying dead. ;) Still, I did enjoy watching the rp of the other characters, it is just more fun to play along.
I did appreciate the fairness of PC when it came to dealing with Girte, even if it led to her final death. The last thing I would want is for her survival to be contrived or ring false.
So, thanks for another great game!

Again, another great game. You handled what seemed to be the three thousand years that it took us to get out of town with great patience and some quick thinking to actually get us moving.

Ok, well, I looked and I looked, but I swear, I didn't see a sling on the weapons merchant. Thanks for supplying the chick +1 though, it saved my butt when I got lost in the woods, in pursuit of the party (blasted wolves). Three DM's this game, if only for a short while... beautiful teamwork! Wish we could have three all the time. The way NPCs were handled was awesome. And I never knew that you could do that mass of running animals in NWN. Bumped up the design score for that. Very nifty.

This game shines when there is NPC interaction - it really comes alive and feels like a living, breathing world with non-cardboard cutout information and quest dealing NPC's. Big enjoyment factor there; at least for me.
Now the constructive criticism part - the difficulty of the NPC's seemed far above our ability, at least the Stoneskin was anyway (though in truth the gung-ho swing-first-ask-later attitude of the party played a lead part in their demise). The PC's should know when to walk away from - or avoid - a fight, but we should not be expected to know where we should & shouldn't venture. If there is an open door, it will be explored! Perhaps encounters should be scaled back if there are fewer PC's than expected?
Part of it may have been that we were short a person (the game said minimum of 5) so perhaps we should consider having someone stand in reserve in case someone else does not show.
Overall, deaths aside, it was a great time!
[Lilivati's reply to comment: *cough* scouting *cough*]

The NPC's were great, they were clearly distinct individuals.
They also did an excellent job of working around an absent character and a late one.

NPC use never ceases to amaze me. Between the two, there's never a dull moment with NPC dialogue.I love how you keep even the straggler of the group busy.
The battles were finally humbling, and put most players in their place. The one where everyone got beat down in the doorway while half the group had the "Fear" effect on them, was a very good example of how we didn't handle things well enough and payed for it.
But there was one point that I have to wonder about. I seemed to drop dead for no appearent reason while trying to flee the guards the first time. Also, the game became pretty frantic through the last part. Beating players to a pulp, while humbling, doesn't make players slow down, it seems- it only makes the jump at any NPC that might talk to them if they don't try to kill them first. Please beat "SLOW DOWN" into our heads a different way...

You have shown outstanding abillity in weaving a story. The fact that this was your first custom module and independantly DMed game, makes the aspect of playing future games from you very, very seductive. The only thing I have to reluctantly confess is that, when the party was getting thoroughly trashed, you got a little easy on us, though most of the cause was our own mistakes. Also, you might want to schedule larger amounts of time to host a game that has such a stressful backdrop, since players trying to second guess the plot in order to save their hides WILL be very indecisive, and tense. While I'm glad my character lived (I'M THANKFULL!!!) there were a couple of places where, in such a setting, the whole party would have been very, very much dead. Ofcourse, scheduling more time per game will also allow time for creative, story-fitting work-arounds for the events of mass or majority party death, no?
[Lilivati's reply to comment: I agree- there was one point in the game where the party would have died if I had not intervened, namely the beholder guard. However, something about the fight seemed off to me in-game, so I went with my gut and helped you out. It turns out I was right and this was a building flaw, not an error of player strategy or tactics. The first time through a module this is bound to happen, even with all the bug testing I did beforehand. If you had screwed yourselves over, I would not have lifted a fi]

In order to get a vital object to continue with the quest, the DM's made it necessary to talk to the character to get him to hand it over, and they made him a hard nut to crack. I like that they are not just handing us things to keep going forward with the goal of the quest, but making us work for it through rp.

It is hard to review this game since we didn't have any combat. Granted I still had a great time playing but it did seem to drag somewhat. When the drow female took Nodin aside to fight one on one she should have taken all of us to "test us" for the task. Sorry for the low score and please don't think of this as a reflection of how much I liked the game.
[Lilivati's reply to comment: No, this is exactly the kind of stuff I need, actually. Frankly, for my third time as a DM and my first module offered up to the general public, I would be happy if I were getting straight fives and I've been thrilled people have liked it.]

I enjoyed this last session - it is refreshing to be part of a roleplaying campaign in which the NPC's have depth, personalities, and motivations of their own. It was well-paced and the DM's were terrific at reacting to our decisions 'on the fly.'
My only bit of constructive criticism - towards the end of the game (the last 20 minutes or so) we began to lag a bit. For long sessions, like last night, perhaps we should pause and reboot at a midway point.

For what I saw, very good use of NPCs. This DM has shown skill in how to bait both boons and hooks, and has shown great flexibillity, at least in managing smaller PC parties, and responding to new ideas. That alone is very important to many players. Other skills will sharpen with time and practice. This DM has quite a bit of promise from the narritive standpoint.

This was a really nice game to play. There was no combat at all, and to be honest I love combat, don't always need it, but I like to see it arround, pet it a little bit, and beat it with an ugly stick- with that said the fact that there was no combat in this game did not bother me in the slightest. It was full of fun NPCs, scary conversations, good pc to pc interaction, a nice, even pace. I enjoyed it and could easily say this was most likely one of the best games I've yet to play here. As such, I've no problem giving the DM top rankings and a solid round of applause
