Another well ran adventure that presented the party with more than one path. It is hard to rate the style for karvon as he will adjust to what the party is doing. If th group is looking for a fight they will find it. We may wish that we didn't but...

Nice ambush, I should have expected that, considering how many times similiar bushwhacks have taken place on the party's way back to base. Catching us when we are at our most vunerable.

Would have liked the option of being able to board the pirate ship. But alas, it's probably a bit of a stretch with the current game engine.

Karvon definitely ran another very entertaining game. The palpable tension when the party met "the Captain" was awesome, and it forced otherwise-mouthy characters to check themselves when they realized just who (or what) they might be dealing with.
I had an issue with some of the mechanics (specifically certain saving throws) later on during the storm, and I'd still be interested to see the references that says a PC with a 17 STR cannot have more than 10lbs of gear on them without sinking. But all in all, it's water under the bridge to me (and in the lungs, and in the bolt-hole given by the dwarf, and all over the deck). :)
I'm still very much enjoying the campaign and looking forward to further sessions.
[karvon's reply to comment: Here's D20 summary of swimming rules...

WoTC online docs state 16+ lbs of gear result in sinking.]

I've played in-game with Karvon before, but I don't think I've ever been in one of his DM'ed games. Really glad that changed as of this past session; he's got a great DMing style, and the NPCs came alive and reacted to impromptu actions by the PCs. He was able to allow the party a lot of freedom as far as what transpired, but still managed to get the party going in the "right" direction when needed. The bit with Brother Silas was particularly enjoyable!
Look forward to many more sessions with Karvon at the helm!

NPCs as played by this DM kept what was a fairly dry New PCS intro into the party interesting. He kept up various conversations with the PCs and among the NPCs. Nice atmosphere

Well it was great to be back but what a harsh reminder of the perils of this world, two companions lost. It was a great game and a little more thought and scouting by us should have prevented any losses. we learned those who choose to reach for great reward can instead ay a great price. Thanks fun game

Great game, even if I didn't live to see how it ended. I still can't believe that worked there... I mean, I jokingly said before hand, "He should try back peddling." Then he does... and it works. I was sure he was going to die. Oh well, so your elves died, but all is not lost! Another pair is made, this time a sorcerer and a wizard! Don't worry, he's not another Lian.

I think our campaign is definately swaying towards roleplaying as a primary. As always, Karvon keeps the party on its toes as he adapts to the unpredictable anticts of the party. One of the best traditional DnD-style DMs I have played with in 25 years... and I have played with alot so that is saying something!

Interesting choicies you are giving the party. We have several directions to choose from and I think a couple more we don't even know about. This game is alot of fun as the DM responds well to the characters background and in game actoins.

Karvon always an exciting DM... old school with simple rules. Well balanced campaign with fair treatment. Consistent timelyness in campaign meeting times. Open to adapt to player character wishes/directions. Colorful and memorable NPCs.

Karvon always keeps me on my toes. He adapts well to players whims and desires. He lies in wait for you to make your move. You can almost hear him laughing in the background. ((With Halloween, I wanted to put a spookey spin on things))

I like the open structure of the game and the Module, as this allows greater freedom in the playing. Need a crypt no problem drop a trap door in a cemetary and transport the party to a sound stage type setup. The plot just keeps getting more and more interesting.

Karvon is one of those old-school DMs from the "pen and paper" days. He can out think you even when you are ready for him. :-) Always a pleasure to play in his campaigns.

Wow wave after wave of zombies. Ah well we were needing some exercise. Again we embark on another interesting mystery. I like the way we are not led around but allowed to make our mistakes and take our lumps even if it disrupts the planned adventure.

Anotehr heavy RP night as we move from one job to another. Nice setup on using the temple to send us on our next quest. Rashard was sweating it a bit on the tithe question, among a few others that the bishop asked about.

Well A nice little night of RP even for the DM as most encounters were with NPCs and not monsters. Was fun to watch the negotiation with the Bard over his room and even having the quasit messenger at the end of the session to help setup the next one.

Adjusted and saved the party from itself tonight, although not without cost to the party. :( But it could have been worse for the party so it was a more than fair decision on the DM's part. I really enjoy how the parties personalities direct where the group goes and the DM's will. I enjoy these games immensly because of the roleplaying and the challenge the DM offers. You better be on your toes and prepared to use all your abilities.

His before-session planning, adaptation to player whims at "the heat of the moment", and presentation of story/plot are masterful. His "upteen" years of Pen and Paper (DM and roleplaying) experience are evident and strongly influential. Kudos!

Great fun last night. I love the myriad of choices the DM gives us, :) or the freedom to go off on some character inspired tangent. All the NPC's have distinct personalities from each other and interact with the party differently..

Careful now, you are leaning more towards roleplaying these days. hehe. A very good dynamic DM that allows characters to "think outside the box" and run with a half-baked plan... right into trouble. LOL.
[karvon's reply to comment: Hey I can do RP if that's what floats the party's boat:) I just find most people like more of a mix between the two extremes:)

Good session. I was quite proud of the way the party managed to take out a large number of gnolls. Was a bit disappointed that the initial plan of guile didn't work. Really hope we can find a solution quickly because it ~is~ getting a tad repetitive.
[karvon's reply to comment: There were other more viable solutions discussed by the group than the one the party finally settled on. Sometimes simple plans work better than more elaborate ones:)

Took awhile for everyone to get moving but that's hardly the DM's fault. :) Challenge level was a bit tough, but not overwhelmingly so. Understandable considering how the size of the party is changing, though. Most of the new PCs appear to be more RP oriented or "flawed" characters than battle machines, so it might be worth considering making the battles easier for the most part, and let the story of the plot and PC personalities create most of the fun.
[karvon's reply to comment: Some of the encounters were tougher because the party failed to coordinate themselves and got out of synch or position. I make no apologies for the results when that happens:)]

Excellent game again. I am interested to see where we go from here. The encounters are just on the edge of deadly so that you must play smart or you will die. You must definitly explore your poptions wiht this DM as just blundering ahead can and will get you killed.

Always we must think before we act. Gotta love a DM that gives you several options (including a way out) and just waits patiently to see what you will do!

Really good job this session, I especially like how the party has been getting alot of choices in activities lately, which is better than going down a totally pre-arranged storyline.

Fun game, I like the little twists you throw into even the simplest quests. Nice job adjusting to fluctuating party size.

Nice adaptation to player needs. Good balance with module timeline versus completion time of party (i.e. we probably should have gotten further but you adapted). What I like most is your fairness in encounters, gold/loot, and overall expectations of players on knowledge of game mechanics, spells, etc.
I think the areas could be better but you said you are already working on that in your own module. I tend to be a heavy roleplayer and you adapted to it nicely enough. But as you said, you would rather put the time into plot development than putting it into
Part of the challenge trouble was me... being the lowest leveler in the party and not thinking about attacks of opportunity.
