A nearly perfect game, amazing how so much can happen in 2 little rooms, while the npc communication this session was sparse what there was of it Intense.

A fantastic second session, with some brilliant twists in the tail. Care is taken for the reveals to be initiated by PC behaviour, and the DMing was responsive to PC requests and behaviour. Tense too with the possibility of their next step leading to the death of a man. The campaign so far is everything I expected, and the party is shaping up to be one of the most enjoyable I've ever known. Thoroughly enjoyable.

This is the first time I've ever given all 10s, and I think every one of them is well deserved. The atmosphere was always masterfully set, and even *changed* during gameplay without ever having the leave an area. Excellent, excellent, excellent, I don't know what else to say. The DM was true to his word. This would be an incredibly involving cerebral game that really kept you immersed in the imagination of it all.

A very promising first session of what looks to be a very cerebral and involving campaign. Ag great session the DM gave the players plenty of information to mull over as we attempted to solve the crime.

Unfortunatly i felt there is only one issue to bring up, the Detective Character is a great tool for the DM to give the players vital informaton yet during the discussions i felt as if we were being led somewhat by the hand.

Naturally the NPC's ultimate goal is the have the crime solved and to provide insight yet it came across to me at least as a wee bit heavy handed. Hiopefully it is my eagerness to see the crime solved tht is causing me to see this as more than it really is, if so apologies all around. Still an excelletn game cannot wait until next session.

[Von Stalhein's reply to comment: I agree entirely, I have to say. In future, Detective Light's active involvement will be a lot lower. In my defence, the discussion among the PCs was often getting out-of-hand and unfocused, and I felt it would be better to refocus the PCs rather than let the first session peter out with a lack of focus, thereby setting a bad precedent for the future.]

Another excellent game by VS with some great trademark plot twists, excellent NPCs and exciting, tense and well-balanced action sequences.

The only complaint I have about VS' games is that he makes all other seems drab and dull by comparison.

Great progress with the story. The NPC's RP was above par. Enjoyed the fight, though I have no idea who wound up dazing everyone *whistles innocently* No more clouds of bewilderment for sure :)

The crashes during the AT sucked. What's up with that? I spoke with SmartAlec and he also has an ATI gfx card, if that's of any help. Hope you can sort it out. Virthe mentioned something about hak sizes and versions. Post about it on forums? Good game otherwise. Cya next week -- AV

Good session. Tomoko's cool and those Ice Onis were interesting. The academy layout and feel was spot on! Can't wait for Kyoto..

06/04/07 8 6 5 9 8 5 5 9 9 8
Though I greatly enjoyed this session (as always), I have to say I was greatly irked at a few points. Particularly; the departure from Iwano, journey to Ninaru and night at Manabi's manor scenes. At these points, it rather felt like you were pushing along the plot at the expense of some interesting roleplaying oppurtunies (and the group was quite clearly eager for, I think, as evidenced by the many summarizations of ideas we wanted to implent during these scenes but were unable to).

[/Rant of attempted constructiveness]

[Von Stalhein's reply to comment: In my defense, the decision to move these scenes along quickly was based on the multitude of comments by players regarding the large, empty areas in the first session. They were placed there for the purpose of providing space for roleplaying - yet it was said to me that it would have been better without the larger, blank areas. A slight no-win situation, from my point of view. Given this comment however, I will endeavour to not rely on jumping strategies any more.]

MotD II continues down it's ever-strengthening route - Sunday is now a day to truly look forward to! Brilliant storyline, brilliant cast - in a nutshell, brilliant. Cheers.

Very good, even if it did move a little too fast.

MoTD once again! I'm excited to see what the new version holds.

05/28/07 8 8 8 9 9 5 5 10 8 9
A well-designed starting episode. Few challenges and no real treasure or rewards, but because the game was the beginning of a campaign, and therefore quite sensibly focussed on giving the party time to travel and get to know each other a little before things heat up. It also served well as an introduction to the 'world' with a well-judged bit of scene setting and a hostile encounter designed to reflect the unusual nature of the campaign. Add in some excellently-built scenery, one or two effective bits of scripting and a cutscene that didn't malfunction, and I was quietly impressed.

05/27/07 9 8 8 9 10 5 8 9 9 9
The beginning what is certain to be an excellent campaign. I don't really know what else to say, except that I can't wait for next week's session.

For the sake of constructive critisism, though, I do have one thought; it seems to me that the sheer ratio of area size and number compared to what we actually do in them is a bit off. It would be nice to have more obstacles or interesting situations in these wonderfully crafted areas which probably took infinitely more time to create than it takes for us to walk trough them.

Of course, you might very well have plenty planned already. In which case; feel free to ignore the above thoughts.

05/27/07 9 10 9 8 9 5 5 10 9 8
Meticulous organisation, attention to detail, and an excellent session to start what is sure to be a memorable campaign. I woke up rather reluctantly this morning at 2:30, but you and the cast ensembled have renewed my faith in the choice I've made to be a part of the story. Monday morning blues? Hah!

Did not give a rating for treasure or challenge because I felt it was irrelevant this session. Cheers -- AV

3:30 am on a Monday morning before work. I am never superfluous with praise, but man was that a mind-blowingly fun-tastic session! Coming in as a new PC towards the end of the campaign, I was able to fit right in. Von Stalhein organised my integration flawlessly and from then on it was laugh-a-minute stuff and challenging combat topped off with fantastic dialogue and music. Will be sorely pressed to find a more enjoyable game. Big shout out to Andrew Maniac, Shadani, Burrie and Brachyuran without whom the game would have been a shadow of itself.

04/03/07 9 10 10 9 10 10 9 10 10 9
Yet another great, fun session with Stalhein's trademark story twists and dramatic scenes. It was very enjoyable though perhaps I would have liked a bit more freedom and choices available and a bigger challenge of escaping the compound. But that's just a style preference - the quality of this session was top notch.

04/02/07 8 9 5 10 9 5 4 10 9 9
I must say that there is no-one who can create worlds, NPCs and plots the way VS does, and the way this campaign is turning out only affirms my thoughs on his awesomeness.

03/25/07 7 8 7 7 9 7 7 8 8 8
03/20/07 8 10 10 7 8 10 10 10 8 8
It was a good, fun game with an intriguing twist in the storyline which made things much more interesting. However IMHO the twist and the decision the players had to make came too fast and thus it felt a bit forced on us. Also the main NPCs this session felt a bit too generic for some of the most influential people in the multiverse. And Simons was very unpleasant to deal/RP with which is not a good trait for a would-be ally/boss NPC, I'd say.

03/18/07 7 9 5 9 8 5 5 9 8 8
In regular VS style, the story has begun twisting in ways that no one could have anticipated. Also in regular VS style, there seems to be very little to complain about.

I know. I suck at comments.

02/27/07 10 6 10 10 8 10 10 9 8 8
It was a fun game but I believe it could have been so much better if the DM had gathered a smaller party (7 players is way too much, especially for one DM) of higher quality players. The number of players resulted in a chaotic session and in lower quality and less recognized roleplay. Also it made the introductionary session a bit too slow and thus lacking intrigue. However this unique setting and the NPCs that live in it seem to have much potential and I am looking forward to see what Stalhein has in store for us.

02/25/07 5 9 10 9 10 8 9 10 8 9
One of the funniest games I've ever played! and this is just starting. Thanks VS, cheers!

The final session of Mark of the Dragon brought to the end with a universe changing event. Perhaps it could have used a short epilogue, such as like a dream like journey around the human world. Just to give us some closure on the story without answering all the open questions. But all in all a climactic end to a great campaign. Thankyou.

Excellent game. New twists, new truths and I guess new lies ;D, the plot-line changes in a new and exciting direction. Everything in just one shot. The whole story keeps me interested and now even more. But I also want to see how our group develops as a group, today we did it well and fought with strategy for a group that has very different perspectives and goals among its members (it must be one of the most disperse groups I've joined -yet it is a group of great players that makes it fun to take part in it), as well as backgrounds of which we still know little. I have to see how everything turns out. Great session, great campaign.

01/14/07 9 10 10 9 10 8 8 10 9 9
Great campaign. I kind of figured 3 or 4 episode ago that some controlling agency were twisting the plot. I got confirmation when i was able to

Entertaining as always. Great use of custom content. Combats have tended to be a bit overpowering, especially as we don't have any real fighters, and party AC is pretty poor. Alas, the dead haven't had much of any loot, so our weaponry and armor haven't improved - and what healing supplies we've had have pretty much evaporated.

12/25/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
  Another fine game, as always.

Good session, full of information, some of it, as in any good story, still foggy. This only means that I am hooked and looking forward to next games! :)

It is always tricky to introduce new players to an existing group. But I feel VS managed to do so really well while keeping the story flowing. The plot really seems to have kicked off now and it will be interesting to see where it is going.

12/12/06 9 9 9 10 10 7 8 8 10 9
Simply masterfull. VS' storytelling skills *really* took me by surprise.

  It gets better and better!

A refreshing and different experience to me. The music and the setting are excellent. DM and the group of players are great roleplayers. Just one session but I think it's enough to say this is going to be one of the best campaigns I've ever joined. I am impressed, just looking forward to next sessions :) *Cheers* ~ Etsa

12/10/06 10 10 10 10 10 8 10 9 10 10
I think this may have been the best session of Freaton yet. A nice balance of plot, humor, roleplay, and action.

12/09/06 9 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
One of the best Freaton game so far. Dagobah was a nice touch. Liked the plot and gameflow. A+

Fun game as always. Liked the twist in the plot. GM was able to improvise a few well placed dialogue

11/28/06 10 10 10 5 10 8 9 10 10 9
In spite of the DM's concerns, and those of other players (apparently), I found this session very entertaining and engaging.

11/27/06 9 9 10 10 9 10 10 10 10 9
Good session, enjoyed the twist involving the Kagemusha and I loved Kaguya. Very mysterious and cryptic, really got the sense that she was a higher being struggling to converse with more primative types. Cheers.

Another interesting chaper in the ongoing saga. Intro of more background on some of the key NPCs. Like the variety of music:)

A magnificent yet unexpected finale to the story (or the first chapter of it at least) which I'll remember for a long time. Everything was excellent as always and I loved how Zotou fell victim to his own beliefs. Looking forward to see where the story of the heroes will continue now.

A very fitting end to MotD, loved the twist. I was sure we were going to get beat down again. Great NPC's and drama as usual.

The last session of MotD "season 1" was great, I wasn't expecting that it would end there (I was expecting Zouto to have escaped somehow). As always the movie-like story telling was really great in this session too.

Hope to see everyone in MotD 2.

Good session despite being short of numbers with more interesting revelations. It was pretty intense and the party seemed to be missing peacemaker Shan, hopefully he will help build some bridges next week. :)

11/06/06 10 9 10 10 10 10 9 10 10 10
It was yet another great game with some very memorable NPCs and plot twists, a good fight and an overall smooth DMing. The few irks I had were about the sorcerer Soukoto being too strong IMO and that Yuwei's absence last session wasn't handled well, which ruined the immersion slightly. But these irks were minimal.

11/04/06 9 10 10 10 9 9 9 10 9 9

The DM really deserves the BIG for this game, because the NPC's were played perfectly. Alive, believeable, and extremely eloquent!

10/24/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 9 10 10 10
It was an awesome session and I enjoyed it so greatly that time just flew by. The storyline continues to hold a steady grip on my interest, the NPCs were great (especially the greater youkai. He alone is worth 20 points for NPCs, shame I can't give that much :D ). The area design was nice too and it was great fun riding the horses :) I only found the combat too easy in the forest and maybe slightly too hard in the caves. It would have been nice to encounter a more interesting, less generic foe on the way. Still it was a magnificent session.

10/24/06 10 10 10 10 8 10 9 10 10 9
Good stuff. I thoughth the introduction of the new content was very well worked and it was interesting to learn some of the background behind the Mark of the Dragon World

10/22/06 10 10 10 10 10 9 9 10 9 10
  Excellent session.

Great use of custom content. Nice fade in/outs. Varity of NPCs and on fly improv in response to PC actions.

10/21/06 8 6 10 10 10 10 10 9 9 10
A very fun game, with some veeery interesting NPCs.

10/21/06 10 10 10 10 10 9 10 10 10 10
A fine game, very Outrageous Fortune, but better because the PC's are outright silly, too. I can't wait to see what's next.

Fun Game Was Expected. Fun Game Was Given!!

10/16/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
Yet another great session from Von Stalhein. The plot is becoming more and more intriguing, the NPCs are great and the campaign keeps a steady pace. Perhaps the only problem was that the players had little space to shine but the NPCs had a lot to tell us so I see the necessity and merit of having such a session from time to time.

10/16/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10

An all-round fantastic game. It has great story, npcs, and action. All the players had their part in the game. I especially liked the DM's use of some out of engine events. Has to be a Top 5 Dm’ed game for me.

10/03/06 10 10 8 10 8 9 8 10 10 8
It could perhaps do with giving the companions of Meng a little more to do as they sometimes end up in the background. But all in all a good session with fantastic NPC's and storytelling by the DM.

[Von Stalhein's reply to comment: A fair point in some regards - and something I'm working hard to resolve. On the other side of the coin, Meng takes the initiative many times; whereas the other PCs do not. Just because Feng Lie is a relation to Meng, does not mean that Feng is 'untouchable' to the other PCs. The same goes for Bao-hui - arguably all the PCs have equal claim to his time. Ask, and thou shalt recieve, after all.]

Loved the talk with Takaru, you really inserted the pride and aloof NPC very well, you were able to make an intense yet comical introdution to him. Let's just hope we haven't driven him away for good, but i beleave we'll see him again.

08/14/06 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
It was another excellent game by Von Stalhein and RoninJim. I loved the grave areas and the lighting/atmosphere in the library was nice too. As usual, the NPCs were portrayed marvellously with great, memorable personalities and intriguing affairs. The flow of the game was just right too. And while this session provided many answers, it also raised many new questions, keeping me excited and puzzled about the future of the campaign. All in all: another topnotch performance by these DMs.

08/13/06 9 10 10 10 9 10 7 10 9 9
The party struggled a bit with the strength of the monsters, mainly due to the fact they are down to one fighter. But that does not detract from the quality of the game which was great as always.

Great session as always, uncovering a bit about the past of one of the PCs, a small chase, some fights to keep the moral up and as always great roleplay from the PCs and NPCs that were shown to us.

In this session the way you use the music really gave a mood to the environment adn the events.

This was one of the best NWN sessions I've had the fortune to play. Tense, intriguing and memorable. The NPCs, especially the villains, were excellent, the pacing was good and steady and the plot - magnificent. The dream sequence was very good as well. Looking forward to the future sessions of this great campaign. After this session I am convinced that Von Stalhein (and his co-DM RoninJim) deserve a place in my Top5 DMs list, and at the top of it too.

Holy Moley! I'd given you 10's from previous sessions, but this one topped them! I wish there were an 11 in the ratings system! Two words: dream sequence. Beyond that, the plot truely popped today, the NPC's were flawless ... and even more amazing was that there was only one DM! I don't think it's just that I was playing drunk!

Great session this one, maybe the best I've ever had. Both the story and teh action flowed smoothly giving us a great chance to Roleplay and a few tactical fights. The dream sequence was awesome, the list things you can do with the engine keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The DM's didn't have much to do this session as the play was dominated by the introduction of a new character. But what they did do was spot on. I particularly liked the reuse of the Bullante.

This session was a lot of fun, because a new PC was introduced and the DMs let the players go at their own pace, only stepping in when needed.

I really enjoyed the RP we had this session. The players were fun and the DMs paitient. Most of my characters tend to rely heavily on RP over battle so it might slow down the progression of the module but the DMs and players were nice enough to wait it out. I guess i'll be makeing use of the forums whenever i can.

The design was great, i loved the hilly areas that didn't use the basic hills that you couldn't climb unless there was a slope from the tileset. You don't seem tomany of those. I can't really comment on NPCs since we've only seen one so i'm hopeing we'll come accross more as we progress.

It was a very fun session with intriguing plot curves delivered by excellently portrayed NPCs. And everything was run at a very smooth pace. Just great!

Well done, I enjoyed the drama and the newness of the tilesets and backgrounds.

It was both a smaller group and a slower paced game than what I'm used to, but I haven't been playing in your game for very long and it usually takes me a while to get comfortable in a campaign that I'm new in.

The NPCs were well done, but the visuals were plainer than those I've seen in many other games. Despite this, it was still quite nice visually.

Maybe after I've been to more sessions I'll have more to say, but for the moment, you're doing well, just a very different style than what I'm used to.

A fine and satisfying conclusion. Of course, I loved all the references, as usual. Arthur Pembry, etc.

A very fun game. In part because of the party itself, but largely because of the DM. Everything ran nice and smoothly and the combat was tweaked here and there so that our small party could survive.. though not too much help that it wasn't challenging. The DM sent regular shouts to describe what was going on (as I would expect), but also to narrate the action, which was a nice touch. Definitely a very competant DM.

And I got to find out the colour of the orb maker's robe!

While some players made the session chaotic, the DMs coped with the difficulties very well. I guess the beetles were overpowered but I give my thumbs up for the DMs going from there and playing it out rather than restarting the fight or doing something similarly immersion-wrecking. The NPCs I saw were roleplayed believably and seemed life-like. I loved the custom music and its use - the way it changed the atmosphere just at the right moments. All in all this was a great, intriguing start to the campaign and I can't wait for the next session.

  Great job guys!

Now if only you could spawn healing potions and +1 weaponry like you spawned beetles :P

[Von Stalhein's reply to comment: +1 weaponry? That's a bit boring isn't it? ;)]

A really fine game. The DMs did a great job handling a diverse party that was often split up. I can't wait to return in a few weeks.

Well, OFC is more chaotic than I ever imagined. But the NPCs were RPed with imagination and humor, and I loved the RL references and laughs. I just hope that at some point us poor, overwhelmed chars will be able to effect -something-, and not just be swirled around in the middle of wild confusion that we can't even figure out, let alone control.

- quirkster (as if you hadn't figured it out)

[Von Stalhein's reply to comment: Hmhm. Indeed. In a very loose way, the characters are in fact in complete control - they do have, essentially, free choice as to what to do and where to go (for the moment). The world around them is morphing and changing - and who knows if you will discover why within time...]

A fine job taking over from our previous DM's. There was a great deal of continuity.

great game, very fun and engaging thorughout. only problems were the slight glitch with the quicksand and a slight shame the end was slightly rushed, but this didnt affect the flow of the game and i still had a very enjoyable evening and would gladly do it again. the battles were just challenging enough, and the npcs were very vibrant. i particularly liked the way the last monster surrnedered and helped us, as this brought another dinmension to the proceedings and really made us think about how to react to it.

Let's see...fun story, handled problems well, could use the dicebag more, loved the NPCs (especially the stupid ones). Definitely want to play with these two again. A lovely one-shot!

Good solid game. DM has the ability to have a bit more ambition and is one to watch for the future.

Nice job by DM Von Stalhein. Deathchild was not able to make it so he ran the entire adventure himself and did a great job handling all the NPC's. Good hooks and the game ran well. Players were a pleasure to play with and stayed in character almost all game.

Can't wait to play another by DM Von Stalhein, and at the end he revealed that this was his first game he had run, I would have never of guessed!

extremely well coped considering that he was actually doing it all alone. i enjoyed this game alot (although i don't have much to guage it on) and await the next game he is bound to make. he played the NPCs pretty well, answering some of my awkward questions on the spot. all in all, bravo!
