As a finale to the campaign, this session was nicely handled - the 'feel' of an assault upon an enemy city, facing hordes of resistance, was there; and the climactic clash with the villain worked out nicely. As a campaign, a well-designed, thoughtful chapter in an ongoing story, complete with historical flashbacks, twists and turns. Very good fun.

I'm going to miss these games now that the campaign is over. Harthe is a very complex world, BNielsen has managed to create a well-thought scenario where history, philosophy and religion interact from past to present. The tension of this background and of the current events is successfully passed onto the players, and it opens many doors for good RP. The only thing I could mention as an inconvenient is that we couldn't get much treasure, except for the last game. Perhaps this is due to the fact that we didn't play through the whole series [which I will do now ;)], but I don't think it's really important. DM handles well the situations, and he excels at playing the NPCs. Shane or Kaeryn could have been the BIG in many sessions LOL. I hope that Bruce continues with such a good work, putting things that usually belong into books into a video-game is a rare thing and something that might be a rich path for future RPGames. Cheers!

Good story with several unexpected twists and turns. Not just the usual "save the world" stuff. Very smooth handling of multiple NPCs. DM was well-prepared each session. Handled everything fairly. Overall, an excellent job in a mod that featured RP (though combat was not overlooked by any means). Only thing that could have been improved was the mod was a bit skimpy on treasure.

Well-run. Smooth changes and interaction with NPCs. NPC's came across as individuals with personality. Interesting story that isn't obvious. Big emphasis on role-play over combat for a nice change of pace. I'd play in another of his DM'd games any time.

The game is getting eve better. Now, not only we have to fight a -so far- hidden enemy, but our own doubts. Adding that type of level complexity makes me wait impatiently for what's to come yet. It definitely worths it.

Good fun! A clever game that slowly built up a layer of history behind the campaign background, and then exploited that buildup by having the players make a discovery that led to unearthing relics from that same history. Well-handled and clever.

It's been one of the best sessions I've played online. I liked the old man in the Tarlinium seat, and the fight with the beholder was good for some action :) I'm really enjoying these games, it's full of good RP. You are keeping a good pace telling the story and unfolding the mysterious plot behind it.

I'm certain that months and years from now when I'm explaining the NWC DMed experience to someone interested, I'll still be using examples from this campaign. I'm sorry that it's over.
The dilemma of faith and loyalty in the face of conflicting interpretations and evidence was especially good. My character may not have had much problem staying steadfast, but as a player I was very much in doubt as to what was true.
This was a shining example of what the new medium (unique to NWN so far) of DMed CRPG games can be like. Bravo!
[bnielson's reply to comment: I think this is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about my games. Truly this was my desire - to figure out way to advance the medium. I'm glad that for at least one person I've done that now. :)]

[Rating philosophy: An initial all-10s if I found the game enjoyable. Points subtracted for things within the DM's control that detracted from my enjoyment. Games I do not enjoy are not reviewed, but a polite PM may be sent to the DM.]
I can't think of anything that detracted from my enjoyment of this session. Even the pause to sort out a beta bug didn't interrupt the flow -- it was just a good opportunity for more great RP between the players. Great job!

I've never given all 10s before. Prior to this session, I never thought I would. But as I went down the categories I found myself unable to truthfully give less than a 10. For what it was, for what was intended, it just doesn't get better than this.
This was an RP-intensive session in the middle of a campaign. The DM didn't feel the need to add incidental, meaningless combat to

This campaign has a fresh and interesting concept. The NPCs were well played and the players were very good RPers. If you're looking for action, look elsewhere.
[bnielson's reply to comment: This person signs up for a heavy role playing campaign then says he/she didn't have fun because of lack of action (i.e. fun rating of 4 and enjoyment of 5) but claims the role playing was really good. I have to just shrug my shoulders and wonder why they didn't tactfully withdraw from the campaign without rating me rather then decided to hurt my rating over their own poor decision.]

Exceptional DMing through the campaign. Has had to cope with players dropping out (only two of the original players made it to the end) with little or no complaint, but has always kept the story going. The NPCs have always interacted well with the party, and some of the conversations have been truly remarkable (Samuel's confessions early on, and the conversation with Andruin spring to mind). It has been a privilege to play this campaign.

Well, as this campaign came to its conclusion, I need to thank you once again for this, Carlo. It's been a very good experience, and Id' do it again anytime. I certainly wish I'll have the pleasure to play in a game of yours sometime, and will be looking forward to it. Bruce, You did add to this by your own very intimate knowledge of the NPCs (that's the part that I'm aware of, anyways), and I'll never forget this argument with Andruin. I think I've been lucky to get such a good campaign and so many excellent games. Thanks a lot.

Once again, Carlo, you've shown just how flexible and reactive a DM must be. Talking with Bruce Nielson at the end of the game has also shown us just how much you add to the material you start with, and once again, I must congratulate you, you're doing a perfect DM, and I enjoy every minute of it. This long night waiting for the undead at the gate, really felt cold, damp and long :)

A very fun first outing into The Light Reborn Campaign! And based on what I've heard by other players I have no doubt that TLR will become more enjoyable as the plot unfolds and the characters faces new dangers from the servants of the dark.

Good job with the session Bruce, you picked the perfect time to end it. You should try to find someone who could host the game more stably ... oi ... it's especially hard being a spellcaster when all the lag happens in battles. I can't tell if I'm targetting an enemy that's alive or dead with my spells :(

It was a really fun game, but it felt almost too restricted though since we only played two hours. But that's the suspense part of it--leaves us all wanting more. Good job on this Bruce!

the game did not happen because of an 1.31 patch incompatibility
[bnielson's reply to comment: The person that did this contacted me and said the following: "I thought it was mandatory to put some review for a game one is signed up to, or have one`s score lowered. I did not touch any of the default values, thinking it meant "no opinion" to leave them like that.
I am sorry I did not see you already were well above that average."]

Normally I prefer FR games only as many custom worlds are just the same sort of thing with different names for the gods and places; but this place had a character all of it's own. The DM developed it well; he has an entire web site of background. If you're looking for a dark fantasy, in the style of The Wheel of Time or the Warhammer world, these modules are for you.

Very good game. Hopefully we can do a little more fighting/exploring. Very unique to use an npc as the main character.hopefully Ill do some more interacting with the environment later on.

A short but good game. Although the game had more hack'n slash than what I would have prefered, it didn't lack on roleplaying opportunities either. It just had much of both.

This was one of the best games I've played in a while. Very interesting story, even though I jumped in the middle! Very believeable NPC's, events and situations. The NPC roles kept us well informed, without sounding like he just told us what to do next, if you know what I mean. But I was still in the dark a good section of the module which was the idea. The DM used quite a few tricks to make our party think, and involved our characters in their own individual ways. I don't want to spoil it by saying to much. By the time it was over, I was wanting more, because it was that much fun. I can't wait for the next installment of the series.

There were some fun bits, such as the chess game at the end and the part where the vampire flies away (I didn't know that could be done). It did seem we were a bit railroaded, tough, and that the part we played on the story wasn't as important as what the NPCs did. After talking with "Uncle Darian", I started feeling we were there for his personal amusement. It still was fun to play, tough.

First timer, but old vet for PnP playing. This was excellent. Not too tough, but not a cake walk. DM was very good at getting us involved and not intrusive. Moreover, we had a couple of unexptective surprises that added to the game.

very well done module, the flaw is it goes H&S after the party leave the house. good role play session, and I really don't like the idea od the checkers game, while IMO, what we have to do is just throw the tank in. the undead attack part is very good, indeed.

Fun adventure. Plenty of combat, but some interesting twists on normal hack n slash, and enough plot to keep you going. The DM seems to know his stuff, and was helpful when he needed to be. No complaints from me. This one's going in my top 5.

The puzzles in this mod were amazing! It really got the group working together, playing off each other's strengths. I would have liked to see XP awards for figuring out puzzles, though, and for RP. And treasure was a little scarce.

We were a little discombobulated there for awhile; the game felt somewhat chaotic to me. The trouble with factions was annoying, but I understand that it is a complicated mess for many dm's so I didn't lower your score too much. It also was only during the last hour. It always sounds worse in 'blackandwhite'; overall, keep up the good work. I'll be back for more!

It's a shame that such a great game with an incredible DM would have those connections problems. This is one VERY good DM and, if you see that he is DMing a game, join it. You will not regret it.

I couldn't connect through the NWC launcher or direct connect but eventually found it on Gamespy. The adventure itself had some interesting suprises and tough puzzles, but too many locked doors. The spawn rate on creatures was too fast to keep up with at times but provided a fun challenge. The module took exactly the amount of time advertised. The DM was very interested in PC feedback, so future sessions of this mod are likely to be much improved.

A very good DM, and a well - crafted module. Some areas were a little too big, but the Orc Cave was very, very good builded, it was also one of the few "logical" dungeon layouts I have seen so far. Kudos. Cant await your next game. - Shinji -
