For the first time in my NWN and video gaming career, this is perhaps one of biggest online dissapointments i have ever played in.
Upon entering on time we did our standard warmup area talk in the inn. Minimal dm intervention happened and it was basically as usual a nice time for gamers to integrate. Due to my real life comittments, too many to list here (those amongst you all who know me know what i do and understand well) i was away from gloomviel for a while and had hoped to reenter. Sadly a total system crash that required a backup disk reboot caused me to be delayed and relog about 20 minutes later.
When i reentered the gameworld i reemerged and sticking with Walsh's policy of no requesting assistance, found at gloomviel.com i waited in the inn doing solo roleplay. after 10 minutes of 'solo' roleplay with an NPC bartender trying to get information on 'where the group went' i opted to try exploring the hold for clues
more roleplay. During this time not one gamer replied to my request for OOC assistance, nor did EITHER of the 2 dm's on duty make any attempt to bring me into the game. Selfish? well, i do admin and i have done gaming admin for groups including gamespy approved servers for a bit now, and as an admin in a group of 6 players with 2 full time dm's and not one can offer any assitance in 38 minutes (when the session is only roughly 2 hours long) is subpar at best.
There was some bad lag but that was expected. In review of his personal hak pack there is some nice touches. Finally seeing the pictures of pug and that group was a nice touch. The book system i noted has a small bug but i will nwc message you about that. The fog is also a nice small touch, adding new feel to the gameworld.
It would appear im not the only one who feels this way as enrollment has been down. Perhaps this was an isolated incident or there was something going on behind the scenes that i was unaware of and am still uninformed about.
But i will say that from my opinion Gloomviel has changed, and perhaps what i liked is nolonger there. I love the world and the backstory, john is my favorite character of everything i play both in tabletop and in nwn but stuff like this is not acceptable.
if you wish to talk about this mr. walsh you have my e-mail addy (s) as well as my nwc account. i await explanation and rebuttle for this tragic blemish to gloomviel.

Wow. Really great work with the lead in, then a nice smack-it-out-of-the-park scene with the big bad! The circling zombies were brilliant, and the way he killed them, (and Janice's sense of him drawing their power,) was just... Wow.

Great work, and with two of you on board there is always a surprise, such as Prita's comments and help when Glad was busy turning in the pallid leaves. Great to have one say playing the fellow we drug in while another could play Prita when Glad went to get help, and ye are both good dm's. Tony will be messaging ye on some "player particpation" plot strategies that have worked for me as a dm this week and promise to hop on something for Glad, though she's so fog addled that one is hard for me to come up with as see her very much drifting along with the others who have it together enough LOL to actually do something. She's very much adrift now, like the fog, and that one is gonna take some thinking on *grins*. Good game fellows! LRP

I can't tell you how much fun it is to have two splendid dm's to run the show. I know through your NPC's what great rp'ers yourselves are in fact. The three legged rat, the red eyed fighter, are but the many ways you move the plot along. Bet one of the best measures of the dm is in how they help the PC's rp themselves, and want to thank you for your wonderful help in helping me bring Glad back in. Was realistically done without having to use up a chunk of playing time doing it, and that takes skill. Thanks so much guys. *frowns* my isp has gotten really erratic here in the evenings, starting around 3 to 5 pm my time, and was acting true to form last night. Ermm subscribing to dial up service seems a bit of overkill but it was times like last night I really consider doing so So sorry about that and did try to leave a message with you and on the boards, see you next week. LOL all game consisted of the rain falling on my cold dead face, *sighs* ohh well better luck next week, eh? Was not the fault of the dm's, rather the shortcomings of my group ( my feelings mind ermm but have different priority theirs LOL and am sure they thought their no doubt they thought their quest the more important thing). Tis not easy to play a game as good as yours dead rather than hit respawn *grins* but managed to sit on my hands and not PUNCH that button. Take care see you both next week, dead or alive LRP

First off, let me say I love Gloomveil. The addition of custom music and artwork makes it all a truly unique experience. Only a couple of qualms... I think some effort should be made to help newer players get up to speed on what is happening in the latest session, whether it be a DM controled PC/bard/something who is talking about whats going on in a welcoming manner that the new players will feel they should/can get involved... or maybe as simple as a little newsletter players can buy, or a bulletin or something... I just felt so confused trying to sift through the players duscussions.... Also, I dont know if it was just me, but it seemed like the DMs just werent there? I can count maybe 3 times I had a DM encounter... maybe we are supposed to contact the DMs in chat? I dont know... guess its all part of becoming a part of Gloomveil... learning its wild ways. ;)

Among all the great sessions of Gloomveil, this was one of the better ones of recent history. I think that the smaller groups contributed to that fact, effectively making the group that I was in more cohesive, leading to better character interaction, and better DM interaction as well. The handling of the hermit was perfect form, some great lines of wisdom/insanity. And of course, the spreading of some dissent among the players. Might there be some rival factions growing amongst the PCs?
The one thing that has to be pointed out though, is that I think that a session like tonight's really really *really* begins to suffer under the 2-hour time contraints. Basically, we take about 15 minutes just getting everyone online and at the inn, another 20 minutes with idle/philosophical/character/etc. talk, another 15-20 minutes getting basic organization if we're going questiing, and then we've gotta consider getting back to the inn 15 minutes before closing time in order to wrap up. That leaves a little less than an hour of adventuring time, which makes it impossible not to feel rushed. I know that GV is monster work for you to maintain, and we're tremendously grateful to you for it, but with 3 DM's total at this point, do you think it might be possible to bump it back to at least 3 hours per session? It would be much appreciated.
Whatever the decision, thanks for all the work in creating the world, and keeping it going.

We tried following the leads, but there wasn't enough to go on tonight. We went up the Giant Staircase to Fog's Edge (the starting point) and apparently so did the other group. I feel like no goals were accomplished. We effectively went around in circles. I was disappointed, VERY RARE for Gloomveil. It's usually very well organized in plot.

Humm just wondering Tony if you write plot up in advance or fly by your pants sort of thing or a mix? However you do it tis unique, origonal and far from what is ordinarily to be found in games. I really love all the twists and turns. When you couple that with outstanding npc rp by you and argankyl tis outstanding and am easily make me top five list and I play with loads of dm's , loads of games :) LRP

Ohh you two are so good and how rich I know I say this all the time but both of you are great rp'ers and when Glad gave the copper ring, who could have forseen the hilarious interchange between the two rats---I actually fell behind the rest of the group to listen to the rp and was falling out of my chair laughing---items are rare and only had the one ring and was sad about not having something for both, but now am glad I had only one thing or would have missed out on that hilarious show *grins*

Well, this was fun. I did enjoy myself. A bit chaotic at times, but me thinks it's due to the group being a bit unorganized and disoriented. I don't blame the DM's, you both did a bang up job. Here's to good times.

This week's GV seemed particularly story driven, and was nicely self-contained. I'm a little concerned that the players aren't throwing you enough different looks -- nowt that many of the characters are so well established, it's becoming easier to anticipate the plot lines. It would be interesting to see what would happen if some aspect of the future plots forced some different characters into a leadership role.

Consistently vibrant NPC's and a story with enough threads to weave a blanket make Gloomveil a remarkable world. The wild mix of constructive and--err--deviant players make every week a RP challenge. Outstanding.

very fun game! I was a bit lost, but only because this is an ongoing campaign, and seemed to be the only one who didnt know what all was going on... but I enjoyed it none-the-less! Someone expecting a fast paced, high treasure getting, lots of fights game.. really should not join this game, as I did not fight a single monster in 3 hours. Not that that is a bad thing... I didnt even realise it actually until I logged off, which really says something for the story happening here. I'd definitely suggest this for players who love roleplay, and wish to join up with others of like mind. Well done! Cant wait to join in again, and to be swept into the story myself!

I guess it was our fault this time that we spent lots of time organizing a HUGE party and then deciding what to do and then going back and forth without a well-defined purpose... But still, maybe the gameplay could be improved if we were somehow *helped* to form smaller parties which would then adventure independently. Well, I guess am asking too much of a DM! :-)

This was my third Gloomveil evening, and I haven't been awarded any XP yet. No loot yet to speak of. Those things aren't really that important, but I just haven't fealt like we were getting anywhere. Never sure exactly what we are supposed to be trying to do. Most of the mean NPCS have been too difficult for our group, and there hasn't been a clear path on any of the nights as to what the plot is moving toward as far as I can tell. Just gets frustrating to try and figure out what it is we shoudl be trying to accomplish, and always finding out that what we thought we were doing isn't really an option for us.

My first wish is that DM were slighttly more considerate of players requests, e.g., to impersonate a particular NPC and hold a discussion with PCs. This of course may not be an easy task since there's lots of us playing simultaneously. Another wish is more of a reminder: this is D&D which means rolls should be made very often to decide the outcome of almost any event. Take for example the trial: this is not a competition of players' opinions, but the discussion among the PCs, so one should make rolls (persuade, taunt, etc.,) to see if some particular opinion is accepted or whatever else... But don't take me wrong -- this one is a great game and I can't wait for continuation!

So wonderful to be part of not only such an excellent world, but also so many talented players who are participating to make this place that much better then other NWN servers.
The DM's work incredibly hard to keep everything feeling

Well this was my FIRST experience in Gloomveil, and needless to say it left be wanting more. This game was exactly as advertised. Basically I used this evening to explore around a little bit to get a feel of the land, and definately spent time trying to meet most of the players. I really enjoyed the evening and look forward to my character growing within Gloomveil and hopefully he will find his way home someday. By the way, I registered for the game using the name Therius BUT when I created my character I forgot to change it and used the pre-generated name: Fifur B-(something cant remember here at work). This is fine for me, just wanted to let you know. Thanks for the great adventure, and see ya in Gloomveil!!!

A good game and enjoyable experience. Maybe one more DM is needed for so many players, so that every group has a special attention :-) Also a few noncombat-oriented quests would be highly appreciated!

This game definitely had the feel of a persistant world style game where the players had the ability to do as they wished. It seems to be a bit slower than some games. Not bad but just a bit slower. I think the gameplay will pick up in interest as the plot gets going and the players start to fit together a bit more. Very open ended. could have used maybe a more directed easy quest/mission to get us going though.

Server was having some problems. Also, Gloomveil just seemed....weird and dangerous, rather than fun. DM's seemed to constantly possess NPC's and tell us not to do anything...

Good world, excellent story idea, but it seemed like there was nothing to do (some of this may have been bug in new patch released the night of play). But DM was very good with NPC interactions.

Well this was a rather odd experience. Started off slow and sort of irritating (way too many new players on at once makes it hard to get much done). Death was potentially very frequent and rewards pretty slim, and the NPCs had relatively limited programmed responses as far as what sorts of things we should do as new characters.
Then once there were fewer players and it got later, the adventure got significantly better, with some great DM controlled NPCs giving the world a personal touch....lots of potential future quests and rewards are now revealed I think. Definitely looking forward to next time!

An interesting and mysterious world, and good roleplaying from the DM. A few technical hiccups aside, this was a really fun game.
