Great new concept for DM'ing games. D20 Modern is possibly the start of a new wave. It may have a few bugs in the system; but, so does any game system when it starts. The storytelling is phenominal.

The graduation ceremony was just excellent, and you handled all the NPCs by yourself so well that it felt like it was really 2 DMs running it and not just 1! You rock, FW! :)

Great game this week, the pace was faster this time and the NPC interaction was a lot of fun. You also managed to keep everything on track, despite the party being split up 3 and even 4 for ways sometimes. I'm so glad to be in a game with such talented DMs running it! :)

The NPCs were brilliantly played this session, I particulalry liked how you managed the jedi. The cave scene was also very well done and the overall pace of the game was just right. The action wasn't too easy nor did we get slaughtered at any time, well handled. This DM team works so well together you'd think they'd all been DMing together in this team for years, but they haven't. Overall, I had a great time, keep it up!

Amazing stuff! This is one of the most fun games I've played at NWC. The DMs did a great job with the NPCs and handling player requests. The NPCs had personalities of their own and kept things interesting. The story prgressed at a good pace, not too slow but at the same time, the DMs let the players go at their own pace. Lastly, the visuals were great, the areas made sense and were well designed. I look forward to playing next session.

The first session was a bit slow, but that's understandable with a lone DM and a new module. Forrestwolf managed surprisingly well, considering how the group often spread out and tried speaking to a number of NPCs, I can only imagine he was jumping around from one place to the next to keep all the players entertained. He was also very quick to fix up mistakes, so fast, that we barely even noticed that there were any mistakes at all. Overall, Forrestwolf did an excellent job DMing this game, and I look forward to next weeks session.

I know we didn't actually play this time, but this review is to make up for some the times I didn't get around to reviewing.
Just a general bit of feedback, overall your campaign is great, though sometimes a bit too rushed. The NPCs are your strongest part, but some areas could do with a little more polishing to create atmosphere. In this I mean like when we are standing near a stream or waterfall and there are no water sounds, and especially when there is no music or ambient sounds, I find the silence a bit difficult. If there is nomusic, that's fine, but as long as there are still some area sounds instead and vise versa, just not dead silence unless the situation is one that is very dramatic and permits it.

This game is really amazing! You have obviously put so much effort into making it so enjoyable. The only downside, which isn't completely a downside, is that the story is so complicated it gets quite confusing at times. But other than that, I look forward to playing it whenever it runs.

I enjoy playing in this campaign a great deal, it is so unpredictable, the DMs keep you guessing.
The story keeps growing and the player characters are carefully worked into the plot, or rather the plot is worked around them. Great game!

I really enjoyed this session! The story unrolled nicely and I had fun trying to deduce it. I can't wait for next week's session! :)
[Forrestwolf's reply to comment: Thanks for the compliments! I'd like to complain slightly about the choice of the two areas where you graded me down - stability and treasure. The server didn't crash this time, and your group had the first treasure it's really had all campaign :)]

At first, I was unware of depth of the problem which arose when we first came back from our journeys; it was quite a shocker when I discovered just what really happened. I have to say this has been a very enjoyable session. Lots of content :)

The town had an eerie mood to it, being so quiet and the way NPCs would just suddenly turn up whenever the PCs were up to something.
In this way the NPCs were quite spooky and this, along with the emptiness of the town, was enough to make the PCs want to try and leave. And not only have they thusfar been unable to leave the town, but it is carefully hinted at by the NPCs that Arcanix is a lot more than it seems.
The story so far is both mysterious and thrilling, and it is well planned out too.
In addition to the quality of the plot, DM team also manages to keep up the same standard of DMing even when the PCs are separated into 2 groups.
Well done! ;D

NPCs are so well played they might as well be other PCs. The game details are done well with plenty of attention payed to detail. It's hard to say much about the plot at this stage- campaigns just started, but the pace was steady and the campaign kept moving without to much delay. Overall- very well done and an excellent DM team. :)

Overall a nice session. There were some issues with organization later on, where frequent pausing really broke the pace. That, and no one had any idea how the game ended until it actually ended.
The SW setting was a nice change, nice hakpak. Some of the battles were very unbalanced, though.

Starwars was a nice change of pace, as well the use of SW style equipment and force powers was very nice. A fun game with some nice situations, if let down slightly by a few bland players.

Bosses a little too much. Two team mates turning way too easily. Something like that should be done thru a campaign not in a one shot.

Although I was not in any fights, I saw lots of dead and wounded. This was because I pulled that twist on you guys by insisting on staying in the cell, despite everyone trying to convince me to go proving every reason there was and more. They finally had to take me by force. I wondered if you were prepared if the crew left me and Jordan. :) I was prepared for any consequences.
I very much enjoyed the scenes with Cy and the Commandant (I thought the Commandant was actually going to pushed into killing Cy); Endaren and the guard (Jedi mind-tricks :) ; Jayne's constant hurled insults at us while we were locked in the cells and Jayne putting a gun to Jinny's head when she said she wouldn't put on the vacc suit unless someone put a gun to her head (Jayne and Cy complied).
The running scene out of the prison to the shuttle reminded me of the video

Look.. this DM combination just rocks. It's as simple as that. If you want a fun game, then this is the crew, anchored by Forrestwolf and Left-Handed Bob Thundergut, you simply cannot find a better DM crew than this crew. Period.

The plot seemed pretty solid over all - its sad that it was not handled well for the ship-side portion of the group. I am certain that should those on Serenity get more attention sooner in the story that it would be more enjoyable for all.
Currently, for those that stayed with Serenity it was mostly RP among themselves for 3/4ths of the time the away team searched for the cargo. True, River did get some 'visions' of what was occuring with the other group, but nothing able to paint obvious pictures in the minds of the ship-resident crew.
The last 1/4th of action was cut short by the demands of the other half of the group, so that as soon as the ship-side members stepped out and began to involve themselves in the plot, the away team shouted them down and forced them back onto the ship without any explanation, making it feel (inadvertantly I understand) as though even the rest of the players were against having the other crew involved in the action.

I think I saw the game from a unique perspective given the character (as expected) and many improvements were done since the weekly campaigns for this one-shot game in terms of scenary inside the ship, so I can only imagine what the outside worlds looked like. The new layout was phenominally better and I look forward to seeing it eventually incorporated into the weekly campaign. The scrounging you did to find an entire cast of 9 excellent crew members that were extremely true to the original cast of the show, led one to believe we've been playing this for years, instead of just one night with nearly all strangers to each other. The work done to recruit players from everywhere was amazing. The vividness of the psionic readings and premonitions etc went far beyond just point and click simple mechanics and totally went to a major reason why River Tam was nearly insane from them... yet highly informative if only an observant enough listener to her ramblings was present... which was nearly the case in some instances... perfectly roleplayed again by players and NPC's. The story seemed to piece together through her visions well enough that I understood the synopsis at the end of the session, which I enjoyed, since I then got to share the big picture along with everyone else.

Just... awesome.. totally awesome. This is one of those things you truly have to be a part of to describe it. The DM's work as a well oiled machine, smooth without hiccups (at least that are noticable anyway). Game moves along, and the RP is... well.. if there's a word better than awesome, it would be that word. This DM tandem is.... good. J/K.. gihugically awesome!

I've always enjoyed your Firefly one-shots. The game is quite incredible with all the haks. I thought the mood aboard the other ship was particularly well done. Silent, mysterious and somewhat spooky. I hope I didn't hurt the little boy's feelings too much. ;) But I think it was probably better he didn't come with us after all. I think I preferred the somewhat humorous Hero of Canton a little better in terms of suspense and the 'energy' of action. Still, one of the best NWC games I've played though.
[Forrestwolf's reply to comment: Thanks for the kind remarks. I agree about Hero of Canton - it's more Firefly-like. This one was designed for the horror NWCon theme, and it came off a little un-Firefly-like.]

Thank you so much for such an intriguing and interesting evening. I've never played not only a pc that has no idea how to fight but one set in a futuristic universe. I was not sure how I would fit in or even like it. But I found myself falling for with this world, very attached to my crewmates, and surprisingly helpful and effective to them, because the dm was so good about responding to dice rolls :)..Very intense and intensely moving game, I would love playing this again, and playing this pc of mine. It was a wondeeful, memorable evening. I don't as a rule generally put on my top five d, list for a one time game, but you two deserver t be there LRP

This was an incredible game and shows a lot of hard work to bring Firefly to reality. I never got the sense that this was Neverwinter Nights at all, but truly a sci-fi type adventure. Although there was not much combat, there was plenty of action to keep the suspense flowing. I liked how the characters were not limited to staying together all the time, but could still keep communication through 'comm's' or the Party channel. I recommend anyone to try the Hero of Canton if it comes up again for a future session. It's worth all the download of the haks. Thanks again for allowing me to participate. :) I hope to play with these DM's again.

The haks are amazing. I spent a lot of time admiring the tilesets and the firearms were just cool. There's a lot going on for an introductory session. Sorry I had to go AFK for about 15 minutes.

For an introductory session, this game was very well run. Although the purpose was simply to meet the other players, the DMs included NPC interaction. All the tools at the DMs disposal were used quite well too.

This review is for the campaign as a whole. I have played D&D in the past and NWN now and this campaign was the greatest roleplaying experience of my life. We played somewhere in the range of 60 games in this campaign over a year and a half. The world FW created was deep, alive and his NPCs were unmatched in any game I have been in. FW worked his butt off for us and put together a terrific campaign. 3 cheers for Forrestwolf! Hip Hip! Hooray! Hip Hip! Hooray! Hip Hip! Hooray!

Fine, fun, blast of a session! That was a great way to climax our months of work. Just a killer battle.
Forrestwolf did very well with the enemy and Lew, I'm amazed you could keep up with us, the faction leaders, and the prisoners to boot.
The stops and starts got perturbing once, but I completely understand why you'd need to pause. Just way too much going on and not enough time to type. Also, you should have let us have the General!! :)

What a game! Tore right in there and started chewing up the orcs! It was nice, it was fun, and it hurt a lot! Wished we had more healing kits or another healer with us! Things ran very smoothly from the DM standpoint from what we could see. Only problems we had were in coordinating our attacks. This was a blast, and I can't wait to see the general get crushed...
I only wish I could have put a bolt into Antak....

[u]FireFly-Mod and AMOOF DMs[/]
This DM-team gave quick response to *checks* and also, they were very helpful when explaining things for me. (like the "ground lock")
At times, the players were widespread all over the module but the DM-team handled it very well.
The FireFly Campaign Setting for NWN will be a success I think. (The one-shot was definitly a success :)

I found the game to be fantastic. The characters were great - my fellow crew members were all great, nuanced characters. The story was great, there were subplots weaved into it, the roleplaying was very good. All in all, a truly shiny game :).

This was a classic FW adventure, hopefully we can get this campaign back on track. The demons were terrific, the module design was great and the frequent mysterious skill check rolls in the message window kept me guessing and kept things tense the whole time. This game brought out the personalities of all the players and PCs.

The DMs did an incredible job making a non-medieval fantasy work. A script bug creeped in, but it merely stopped us for while to smoke and joke. JackForrest, Eliandi and Felrazor are credits to the hobby of DMing. I hope to continue this campaign.

A ruleset and campaign setting that managed to be easy to use, nice to look at, comparatively small in DL size, based on a great series...
Bravo.
Perhaps the module was a little too easy, but maybe we were just too good. Who can say? ^.^
An inspirational game, and one that has instantly sold me on using this custom content set.

The plot was thought out and true to the series. The customized content - the characters, all made me think I was playing in an actual Firefly episode. I also enjoyed the attention to stats and abilities. Yes the recovery from the crash was a pain the neck - but I blame d20 for that one. Thanks for an expertly DM'd game... BOB

Wasn't a lot of time played to justify top ratings but still good while played. Seems to be a very well ran campaign with some very good players. I think it will be fun to play this.

Awesome game- the best in a while. The NPCs were typically vibrant and varied personality-wise and the plot is well thought out. Your module building is maticulous and the work you put in shows! Thanks for the work.

I'm glad the puzzles are over. Hopefully next game will have more action. The fighting types in the group were pretty useless in this game, but at least we have some really good puzzle solvers in our group. This group is very well mixed and the story is very well balanced for this group.
Good job getting it all together and putting so much into the campaign. Your dungeon and world designing skills are unmatched in any games I've played before. Your DMing skills are also unmatched- you really can juggle all of us.
We need to get more items. Getting 25 gold from a chest and only masterwork weapons at 10-14th level is making us a VERY underpowered group. At mid levels we should be getting mid level items. Especially now that we are in the middle of the mountains and have no hope of meeting a merchant or blacksmith any time soon we need to find weapons and armor. Battles are becoming too tough because we are mid-level characters with low level weapons/armor.
[Forrestwolf's reply to comment: Treasure concerns are noted - there WILL be merchants, soon, though, despite what you may think. Hopefully party cash will be able to buy some decent equipment!]

I much smoother game than act 2. You were great with your on the spot remedies even if the game did give us a bit of trouble. It's by far the best community module I've played on NWN yet. Mind you I've only started checking it out now. I'm really enjoying myself. Keep up the good work.

Server had all kinds of problems last night. Required a reboot at the beginning and there was some problems with characters. The assistant DM seemed to be having a lot of problems with the game as well, since she kept logging out and back in. Close to the end of the night, the game crashed 3 times due to some wierd problems. Just a bad night for the poor server.
The game itself is progressing nicely. It's getting more challenging as we move along. I'm holding my opinion on the treasure part of it. We really haven't gotten much as of yet but that may be module design and all the goodies are closer to the end. The puzzle we ran into was challenging and a good design. I don't want to give anything away on it just in case someone reads this who hasn't played the module yet. But I really liked how you had to discover the solution. Was pretty nifty. As far as the rest of the game goes, I'm pretty curious to see how it ends. It's a fun module.

great game! it was run smoothly and fairly, and really made us think. a few server kinks at the end of session where handled quickly so play could continue. i was a little disgruntled that disease didn't show up as in OC/SoU (hp bar color change) so that i wasted some scrolls uselessly, maybe its just HCR which i've never played before. i can see where the avg char might not know whats wrong, but a cl/dr/p shuld be able to tell at a glance. either way, it was only a minor thing at best, and i can live with it while playing the best game i've played so far! thanks FW and Jenn

The game started late, but that had a bit to do with the use of hardcore ruleset tools that most of us didn't know how to use being new. Server stability was good. Save times were a bit slow. Or, maybe I'm just spoiled from my last session where you'd blink and miss the fact that it happened. I only lagged once or twice, but that could be anything and not necessarily server lag.
The story is going decent so far. The NPC roleplaying wasn't as smooth as I would of liked. It wasn't horrible, but it seemed a bit forced. So far, all of the mobs we've run into have been exceedingly easy. The ghosts were a bit rougher. I'm imagining this is by design, so I'm holding my opinion on the challenge rating until the campaign is over. We haven't received much in the way of treasure, yet. But, once again, that may be by design. This is a 3 game run, so who knows what's in store for the future. I'd really like it better that if a game is listed as "campaign" that these reviews only came up after the campaign was completed. Assuming a short campaign like this one, that is. As it stands, it's a little rough to review it so early.
[Forrestwolf's reply to comment: I agree - NPC's were too forced - they are hard ones to play, in this mod. We'll work on that for next session. Likewise, challenge was a bit too low; your group played exceedingly well organized compared to prior groups!]

this was only my 2nd online game, and this one has me hooked. just wish we could have gotten further than we did 1st session (mainly due to party feeling its way around what part to play in the group). minor problems with missing gear and some questions on module unique items, but DM's handled it all very well and got us into the module as quickly as possible. VERY ENJOYABLE!

It was rough in the middle, but you worked extra hard and made it happen. At the end you were not afraid to run over the time limit- that was great. Thanks for going the extra mile, I'd like to give you a BIG, but that's reserved for a player.
The module design was great with us doing a little detective work and finding our objectives. The ending was great with the dragon disappearing and we're left to fight this puny creature. At first it confused me but after it was really fun.

This was the most challenging game I think you've done yet. It wasn't your module, so you didn't have a lot of control there, you tried to make this a roleplaying heavy game, but too many of the players were interested in touring and hacking. Inexperienced NWN players (or "reformed" MMORPG players) ruined this game IMHO by hurrying through and just looking to loot the place. The only real knock I gave for this module was not even your fault- too much loot. A first level character finding all this magical treasure is just not right, but it is not your fault, it is the module. Your NPCs, as usual, were well played and dangerous (this is a good thing!) and varied. You organized play exceptionally well, getting us all on the right page. You did a great job with what little you had to work with.
You did a good job with getting the module over with in one night and ending this most frustrating game in a positive manner. Application games can be tricky if the applying players don't know how to roleplay, which is what happened here. I don't hold the bad roleplaying of the players involved against you, let's hope the next game goes better.

The other players worked well together, however, we seemed to not be able to get things oing as fast as we probably should

Great game. I love playing in your game every week. Tonight's 4 part mission to acquire our short-term goal was well laid out and made sense for the long term goal that we are trying to accomplish. Just enough clues were given that we worked out what needed to be done with some teamwork in puzzle solving and combat and roleplay. You encourage us to think creatively to solve problems and I like that.

I have nothing to add other than all the problems that have been encoutered before are being cleared up as we go. One of the smoothest games we've had yet. We're getting more familiar with your scripts and the ways to use/do things you give us (like the toggle emotes and emote wands). It's nice to play again.
One knock (I had to find something!)- please make the emote wands weigh 0 or at most .1 because we have 3 now and that 6 weight could be used for booty.

While the game design and style of DMing were top-knotch, the plot was confusing at best. At the end, I still had no idea at all what was going on. Other than that, though, the game was excellent.
[Forrestwolf's reply to comment: Ouch! Funny...this module was intended as a plot-heavy, story-driven adventure. The plot is, in and of itself, a puzzle that takes some serious hashing out by the party. I suppose a straight hack-and-slash one-shot would have at least gotten some ratings higher than a 2 or perhaps a 5!
I must admit, the plot is slow to develop, and the module just doesn't fit into a 3 hour slot, so the party never really had time to figure it out...but the players were warned it was a test of that exact t]

Great game! We had a few glitches; but, your ability to recover from them were pretty good. The quality of the scripts and scenary and your roleplay and dm'ing is exceptional. The combination yielded a very rich gaming environment for us. Clues were well placed and weren't too much or too little. They made us think quickly, yet carefully, of what are next actions should be. This lead to a very well paced game with suspence. When I fell into the hole into the polar bear cave, I was very thankful that Janice was an exceptional stealthy type when she needed to be. It was edge-of-the-seat suspence and a lot of fun. The significance of weather was strong, yet not too strong. We felt the urgency of the need for shelter, without it being overwhelming. Thank you for providing ways for us to think very creatively when we needed to. Very well balanced game overall. - JL

Great game! The group is coming together and the party is coming together too. Thanks for putting all this together and making this campaign week by week. We know you put a lot of work into this and it shows. Hopefully some day we can play together as players in another campaign. The design of the campaign is unique, the modules are unique and I like how you'e thrown in bits of classic PnP D&D modules and your own original modules to create the entire campaign. Thanks for the work and creativity.

Some action, a good game with lots of RPing. This campaign is really shaping up well. It looks like our player situation is stabilizing for the most part and the group is looking good.
The server crash was unavoidable- NWN will never be truly stable (I am convinced).
We still get very little treasure, but I'm used to it by now. Also, the freezing problem was annoying for some, but NWN will be NWN no matter how many patches come out. Great game, I am really looking forward to the next one (like every week).
[Forrestwolf's reply to comment: Actually, while the server crash can be blamed on NWN, the freezing bug probably can't - it's most likely due to the Harpy scripts, which tag the victim with a local variable. Since I didn't know the name of the variable, I couldn't fix it...so it's my fault!]

this was a good game even though it started late. We cleaned up the Volcanic island bit nicely and got away alive. I can see it's difficult to balance battles with varying party size every week, but it can be frustrating at times. NWN is bad like that, it's hard to balance the game. I like how now you are giving us more hints on what to do (when we heard fighting in the East it prompted us |
