Reviews To Date for Schatten9

Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: Poor Salvatore, so naive, so exhausted by the carnage- and now finally, he sees Vith with more worldly eyes, and it sends a chill down his spine. -I owe you a BPIG. I messed up last time. You deserve it this week too. :)
03/28/05
Vith Sanguillion a Elf: great to see you ‘in the game‘ once again Schatten, and ‘twas not a disappointing start ;) Seems like a very interesting character on our hands here... can‘t wait for more. Cool being somewhat ‘evil‘ while still being loyal/co-operative with the party. I‘m sure we‘ll have some paladin issues though ;)

Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: Well done- the arrogance, the mystery, all well played. Sal has a healthy respect for the danger of the elf among us. BPIG! ...Bob

Comments in reference to the character Cedron Saroy a Human: May not have been able to be there the whole game but was a very important and valuable character while he was there. Could not have done it without him.

Comments in reference to the character Cedron Saroy a Human: Another solid performance for Cedron! A few suprises last night but nothing we can‘t work with. I can feel the Regulation creeping in! Its starting to make me feel paranoid

Comments in reference to the character Cedron Saroy a Human: Interesting interactions with Kira. Player did a great job of staying in character. We moved along pretty well, following Cedron‘s lead.

Comments in reference to the character Cedron Saroy a Human: Always brings a smile to my face as he tries to woo every famle, even in the presence of another he has just tried to woo. Keeps the group on task and moving in the right direction, except in a maze :)

02/19/04
Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: Vith and his familiar Graux are a very convincing pair, working well together. Well roleplayed. I really liked seeing how an ambitious wizard can still fit his goals into a group and follow with the group, without losing his own motivation. Well played!
02/19/04
Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: (Add Comments Here)The character was well thought out and played like a Palemaster should be played dark, forboding, and waiting to take the knife out of your back type character, but was there for the team. I would definetly play with this player again

Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: (Another fantastic job by Schatten9. He excels at both DM and player and have come to expect great characters and story from him. Looking forward to our next session now matter who runs it.)

Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: (Add Comments Here) Vith was delightfully evil and creepy and shows that evil characters can fit in a good aligned group as long as they are well roleplayed. Vith and Ori‘s differences made for some very fun roleplaying moments. Great game and I hope to play with you again - Vual

Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: (Add Comments Here) Well played! Really enjoyed our interactions, the bickering, and (albeit brief) vying from who was to take Arnold under their wing. Really enjoyed watching you and Arnold interacting in the master-student way. Vith came alive in a short period of time, very well played. All your actions were believable and entertaining. Great stuff see you tomorrow - Vual

Comments in reference to the character Vith Sanguillion a Elf: Get that floating eye out of my way! Great character development is sucha short span of time. (What‘s with the gold pouch? We will find out..) The mysterious wizard has taken the boy under his wing and teaches him what is favorable, and unfavorable behavior in a dungeon, much to the dismay of the dwarf. Great game!

01/08/04
Comments in reference to the character Kashae Saorh a Human: We‘re only just starting the campaign, but already the shifter‘s distinctive abilities have been used to good RP effect. Looking forward to learning more about the character in future sessions.
12/30/03
Comments in reference to the character Kashae Saorh a Human: Kashae is indeed everything her history claims her to be...and for good reason ;) Well done with your shifter. She would change to various shapes in the blink of an eye, and was even surprised that the dwarf was taken off guard by this, as if it was totally natural for anyone to change from a woman to a tiger like that. Although it took some getting used to for the dwarf, she was kind enough to explain herself and her strange abilities. Great adventure, great fun, looking forward to the next session.
12/28/03
Comments in reference to the character Kashae Saorh a Human: Despite all the issues with the official campaign, it was still great to see your use of the shapeshifter class. You played it well continually shifting shape with each new encounter. Hopefully we will have better sucess with modules in the future...
12/23/03
Comments in reference to the character Taeru Sama a Human: An interesting character indeed. It is a shame that the module was such that it kept us from having a better time. Note to self: Don‘t play a module that has a sign “Don‘t complain about the lag“, as I am blinking around the inn.. Oh well. I enjoyed your characters demeanor as the bold and confident warrior, that is often hard to pull off without seeming arrogant, you did it well. I hope in future adventurs together I get to learn more of this character.
10/17/03
Comments in reference to the character Merisa Lonlenor a Human: Well played game & an excellent mod. Ran extremely well for a Beta test! Merisa was well played, calling out to her God to protect her from the undead minions as well as to help preserve their souls, very noble indeed. You did well to play her and keep the game moving along, well done. I would have never thought to burn those undead with a torch, well played hint (maybe include one in the mod somewhere). As always it was a great gaming session & I had a lot of fun playing through it with you. Until next time...
10/09/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Great game, fun as always. Are we perhaps at the end of Sou? if we ever get by that Medusa chic maybe we will see. Again Jax and Nespa manage to work together without somehow killing each other. I thought Jax would have taken it harder that Nespa waited to use the “wand of trap removal“ only after Jax had already disarmed about 10 traps on that first path ;) Jax taking on some of the front-line fighting this time around really helped speed up a couple battles, Xanos up front alone just doesn‘t seem to cut it. At times Jax was dancing in and out of combat distracting creatures while Nespa‘ helped fell them from afar, great Teamwork! And Jax‘s charisma is such that at times it seems both Xanos & Deekin wanted to follow him... :) I had a great time and more than a few laughs, looking forward to the next installment.
10/01/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Lots o fun! Damn that wind creature! I hope YOU know how to defeat it. If not I‘m sure Nespa‘ will rise to the occassion.... Good job with Jax, not much chance for us to role-play this session, but a fun session just the same. Maybe someday we will be able to use some of these items we are finding. SoU is obviously not adjusted right for MP experience, we always seem to be a level behind :( So far we have been able to work around it through good team work. Always looking forward to the next session.
09/24/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Lots of fun, another enjoyable SoU experience. Great job with Jax. I‘m never sure if he is holding out on me or not (in regards to treasure), let me rephrase that I‘m sure he is ;) Its funny how Jax and Nespa‘ travel together but always seem to be one snide comment away from killing each other (or at least Nespa‘ killing Jax...as we‘ve seen at the end of the game night...lol). He plays his role well, always ready to use his trap & attack technique which has proved very useful thus far. Again, great game.
09/16/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Well done Jax. We managed to survive to fight another day (Let‘s not go down into the hive again....;) Nice job role-playing between reloads. I think we are getting better at not letting this *censored* death system get in the way of our role-playing. You did well snapping immediately back into character without missing a step. Again, good teamwork. Us not having a “tank“ type character really forces us into working together despite Nespa‘s and Jax‘s differences of opinions (to say the least). Great use of traps and scrolls on your part & the timely sneak attacks with that frost sword were very effective. As always, it is a lot of fun playing with you. You never let re-loading or technical difficulties take away from the experience. Looking forward to the next installment.
09/16/03
Comments in reference to the character Inaya Kiersan a Elf: Nice to play with you again. I‘ve never been in a game with just one other person. Perhaps my only criticism is that this game probably needed another body considering how many times you and I both died. I also think two is nice for interaction, but it tends to be a little lonely. Maybe it‘s because both of us played characters that were rather selfish. See you someday again I hope.
09/12/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Yea! The mummy is dead...um....undead...um....re-dead...Yea! Jax was outstanding with his trap building and placement. He originally sent the muumy running back into his tomb. How come we didn‘t do that last time, I don‘t know. Great job. The teamwork was definately there this session & the role-playing to go along with it. Jax was very good at managing to stay just on the edge of the real down & dirty combat, thereby avoiding any real injury to himself. His annoyance with Nespa‘ and Nespa‘s elven heritage was evident. They work well together, but it is a fine line they often walk between being companions at arms, and enemies. Lots of fun had by all, looking forward to the next go round.
09/05/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Lots of fun last night! Excellent role-playing while still keeping the module moving forward. I laughed out loud when our skilled scout, Jax, triggered those traps (what do you expect from a simple human ;) and the ensuing argument always makes me grin (I think I won that round as you had to resort to using the present word “nerd“ ;) ....LOL. Good teamwork again to bring down that manticore, he was tough. Again, I had a great time and look forward to continuing SoU next week.

[Schatten9's reply to comment: oh yeah, I did say nerd! Shame on me! I meant, "Snooty Elvish Bookworm." ;)

Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Most Excellent! We beat that damn sorceress J‘Nah! Yay for us! I had a great time this session. Together we came up with a great strategy and we executed it well (after minimal reloads). Jax‘s evil side is starting to really show through, keeping the loot for himself ;) I‘m just glad I was able to communicate with the stag before Jax got a shot off. I thought for sure you were going to attack the minute you saw it (but alas, you had forgotten our conversation with that elven ranger... :) Great game, you played Jax well. I think our role-playing styles fit well together. We manage to move the module along but still keep up a good level of role-playing. Lots of fun, looking forward to exploring the desert. Actually I am, but Nespa‘ isn‘t.......
08/26/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Had a lot of fun last night. Not sure if we are heading in the right direction or not but the interactions between Jax and Nespa‘ make the whole thing work somehow. I think our styles have complemented one another thus far. Your placing of the traps and well timed spells (from scrolls) as well as my archery and a little of Xanos‘ fighting have pulled us through a great many fights. We had far less dying this time around (The Giant incident non-withstanding), as I think we have learned to take our time and pay more attention. I think in the beginning we were so eager to play the expansion, that it got the better of us.
08/25/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Great game, the dying rules in SoU definately make it tough to stay in character between reloads but you did well, I liked when you attacked the floating orb after it took your 7 healing potions as payment...LOL. Guess you should‘ve asked the price up front. ;) Again good game, I think we made good progress this session. Not nearly as many reloads as last time....It is always more fun dying less..
08/14/03
Comments in reference to the character Nawl Garren a Human: Great show Schatten! Excellent portrayal of Nawl‘s growing frustration at the complete and utter ambiguity he was faced with when questioning the villagers. Nice work co-ordinating some of those attacks on the wraith as well, and attempting to thrust the torch into its face. The three of you managed to triumph in the end against overwhelming odds! All that remains now is to find he-who-shall-not-be-named, in the poison swamps of the north...hehehehe. I really enjoyed DMing for this group, and I hope to have the pleasure again in the near future! - Alexander Frost

Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Hopefully THIS review doesn't get cut short... Good game, despite frequent death and a badly planned MP death system in SoU. Not a lot of opportunities for RP'ing this session, but you did an excellent job trying to stay in character despite the frustration. You did not let the annoyance of reloading ruin the fun. I look forward to the next (hopefully smoother) session where we might actually live long enough to see what's behind those double doors...ARGH!
08/05/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Ah Jax, an interesting adventuring companion. At times he can be kind (rushing to the aid of our fallen henchmen) and at times cruel (striking down the unarmed prisoners). However, so far he has proven himself useful, so Nespa' has thus far ignored his transgressions and accepted his

Comments in reference to the character Nawl Garren a Human: You can tell that Nawl is very serious about his work in the wild. His dead-halted reaction when he found out that Peribo was a necromancer was perfect, especially when he sought to pass it off as nothing a moment later. Good work as the party spokesman, which I know was a role you weren't aiming for. You just knew what questions to ask, and after a bit, everybody else was right in there with you. :) BIG for this one...it was a pleasure to finally DM for you. :) - Alexander Frost

Comments in reference to the character Denali Frinbo a Halfling: Congratulations are in order. Firstly for lecturing Voln on tactics. (About time somebody did.) and secondly for the boots. Enjoy them. ^.^

Comments in reference to the character Denali Frinbo a Halfling: (Add Comments Here) Denali was such a... well... Jerk! I love the little guy. You roleplayed the Chaotic Neutral very well in having treasure outweigh the welfare of a 12 year old girl. Geesh! Great job Schatten. Funny and witty comments throughout. IJ

Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: (Add Comments Here) Great roleplaying, but man does this new rating system suck!

Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: (Add Comments Here) Jax' depth continues. I can sense his struggles with his past, and possible desire to reform.... well at least shirk the consequences:) I like the extras you do such as roleplaying the door as locked. Olin enjoyed busting it down :) You are always creative in what you do. A pleasure to play with you once again! IJ

Comments in reference to the character Denali Frinbo a Halfling: (Lights, camera..action!) 'You'll never learn anything if you think you're above reproach.' 'All the insults that hurt have some of the truth in them... Gutter thief.' 'Says you, fancy boots locket fidgeting paladin holier than thou sword-boy!' *Voln pulls back a fist to strike Denali* 'A bit of the truth, eh..?'

Comments in reference to the character Denali Frinbo a Halfling: You fitted into our well-practiced group insatantly, filling a gap in both our party composition and personality types... Best in game.

Comments in reference to the character Denali Frinbo a Halfling: (Add Comments Here) Great job Schatten. I remember now why I love Denali so much. He's a blast. I totally loved your 'stalking' of Voln's shoes. And your quick comment about the 'basilisk' made me laugh. You fit in very well with this group. You helped Gor and Evie stay light among Ashera and Voln's gloom & doom. Glad you're along for the ride. You are always a wonderful roleplayer. IJ

Comments in reference to the character Denali Frinbo a Halfling: Our newest addition. Saved our group from self-destruction! Meshed in seemlessly. A fantastic role playing performance. Couldn't be any more believable.

Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: Another great gaming session. Jaxath is an interesting character, I enjoyed the debates he got into with the elf in regards to motives and honor. I look forward to seeing how he develops. (although I am still upset that he got me blamed for killing that Piper individual!)
07/04/03
Comments in reference to the character Jaxath Cerill a Human: (Add Comments Here) Great job with Jax. The highlights were you roleplaying his low wisdom, and killing Piper. You're doing a good job of playing him evil, yet hiding it. I also enjoyed the banter with Nespa. I'm excited to see how Olin and the evil Jax get along in the long run. Great fun.

Comments in reference to the character Caleh Selune a Human: Another great session. But I did not steal her damn book! ;) Caleh and Dante seem to have this love/hate relationship thing going on and right now the pendulum has swung way over to hate... I don't know how Forlin puts up with it. I'd write more, but I'm pressed for time, again great game.

Comments in reference to the character Caleh Selune a Human: (Add Comments Here) Good job again. Great interaction with Dante, especially picking the fight early on. What put you over the top for BIG was the dragon heart. Great stuff. See you on Monday. Herb

Comments in reference to the character Tangris Sulthar a Human: I really enjoyed playing with Tangris. I like how you try to roleplay with everyone and everything such as "Who would pay this kind of money for honey ham?!" or "I like that song, Tangris the Mighty!" I chuckled a couple times at your antics. A day after the game and I still remember your obvious courtship of Nadae and some of your insecurities: "Downwind? I know what downwind means!" and your guilt at not being their for your party members. Look forward to Saturday!
06/10/03
Comments in reference to the character Tangris Sulthar a Human: You always have an interesting twist on your characters. The insecure and indecisive ranger was well...uh...very insecure ;) I truly laughed when he was ready to pack it in and go home. Great job. Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- Yet another great session, you are an excellent role-player. I'm having a great time adventuring with Caleh and her furry companions. She has a rich history and you always find a way to let us know a little bit more about her each session. She is a valuable member of the group. The role-playing of the identification of the items in the game was a lot of fun, espescially that ring of Delusion...(great job with that by the way, when it came your way). Again, great game, looking forward to next week.
06/05/03
Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- Great job once again with Caleh. I enjoyed watching the flirting with Dante- you actually responded to it positively this time! You were great in introducing the possibility that the ring was cursed and then falling for the curse yourself once it was in your hand. Well done! And you continued to bring in your Anasupi (sp?) backstory. Great role-playing and teamwork.
05/27/03
Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- Great game. I enjoy Caleh's primitive outlook on life and learning about her tribe. Her spellcasting was a great asset this session as we fought what seemed like hordes (at times) of lizard men. Looking forward to our next adventure!
05/27/03
Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- Great job once again Andy. Caleh is clearly a neutral character with a nice side. Her interaction with Dante is a hoot and her use of sorcery this time around was a bigger help than in past games. Now if I could just get those cats to stay out of me blasted way!!!
05/23/03
Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- As always, consistent role-playing. I enjoy Caleh's attitude as well as her primitiveness. Great interaction with both Dante and Forlin. I'm enjoying the fun!
05/23/03
Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- Caleh is an interesting character, every session we find out a little more about her exotic tribal ubringing. Her excitement about getting to carry the severed head...that's just scary;) I'm also enjoying seeing the bond develop between the Dwarven Fighter and this Human Druid/Sorcerer, they seem to connect on some level. A great session can't wait for the next installment, keep up the great RP'ing...
05/16/03
Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- Good job. You really brought your character to life. I enjoyed the little tirade between her and Dante, their lifestyles are quite different. Looking forward to future sessions.
05/16/03
Character Played: Caleh Selune (Human): ------------------------- Great job with Caleh. You brought in her backstory well, and portrayed her alignment very well. I enjoyed the banter between her and Dante. I'm hoping for a brawl:) You're a great role-player.

Character Played: Mishaya Sylief (Half-Elf): ------------------------- Great character - friendly, helpful, kept things moving well. Definitely best-in-game.
05/05/03
Character Played: Mishaya Sylief (Half-Elf): ------------------------- Yet again, the best role player in the bunch. You have to really put some effort into role-playing and schatten9 certainly does that. His characters are deep and complex, and he playes on those traits in every game he plays. I look forward to playing with him again.

Character Played: Denali Frinbo (Halfling): ------------------------- Once again I had a great time playing with you. Excellent job role-playing your "little thieving runt" ;) Now if he could only understand the difference between a goblin and an ogre... Again, good times had by all can't wait to play with you again.

Character Played: Denali Frinbo (Halfling): ------------------------- Thanks for a great game... just keep your fingers out of my pockets:)

Character Played: Kreinal Degraw (Human): ------------------------- It was a pleasure to play with you again, you continue to make interesting and fun modules, and you play in them while clearly seperating yourself and your character. Great job, I'm looking forward to playing with you again. Nice interaction with the other players btw, just remember to watch your back. *grins evilly*
04/30/03
Character Played: Kreinal Degraw (Human): Well Roleplayed Druid, He played the character uncomfortable in the caves and took leadership when we entered the sunlight of the forest. Made good suggestions for the party to advance thru the levels. Fun to play with
04/27/03
Character Played: Mishaya Sylief (Half-Elf): ------------------------- A wonderfully fun game with such a small group of people! The module was well done, with lots of little touches to add detail (the fire scaring off the wolves for instance.) I like that there were several ways to do various things, like being able to smash those boulders if you have the strength and patience, or lighting the trolls up with torches instead of slaying them by hand. Your character was very well played, and I liked the way you made your magic seem accidental. "I wish I was invisible." was one of my favourite lines. Character Played: Mishaya Sylief (Half-Elf): ------------------------- I enjoyed this character very much. She was very polite and a great help in the team. Sorry I'm so late to review. I hope I get to play with you again some time. :)

Character Played: Mishaya Sylief (Half-Elf): ------------------------- Very good performance, even in your own mod you managed to keep in character and not reveal anything that you wouldn't have known otherwise. Nice background story on character, something I have to work on myself.

Character Played: Blackleaf (Human): ------------------------- I had a lot of fun playing this light hearted module. Schatten was the perfect host; he was very friendly and an excellent roleplayer. The module he created, while a bit short, provided us with lots of entertaiment and even a few surprises. I was expecting a very barebones or even a half finished adventure due to the games description, but im happy to say that Schatten's module exceeded my expectations and turned out to be very much like an old school P&P dungeon romp. Definatly look foward to playing with Schatten again.

Character Played: Blackleaf (Human): Pretty good thief character, but I think development of character (and role-playing) could be better. For example, "speak" your character less, and "act" it more. (E.g., don't say, hey, treasure over there, let's check it out - if within your character (and I think it was) simply sneak over and take what you wanted.) Similarly, from comments made your character was obviously chaotic in alignment - rather than say "Life is chaos", which seems only a step above saying "My alignment is chaotic", explain how life is chaotic - "If that last gnoll hadn't slipped on a loose rock, he would have had YOU, and not you him - it was happenstance you were victorious, and live. Belief in the plans of gods is foolish - belief in yourself is all you have." In other words, you clearly tried to roleplay (and I've seen others who are far worse, or don't even try), but could improve your execution. Other than that, all good. -------------------------

Character Played: Denali Frinbo (Halfling): ------------------------- Excellent character. Brought great kender-ish charm to the game. I loved interacting with him.

Character Played: Denali Frinbo (Halfling): ------------------------- The game got a bit chaotic twards the end but I enjoyed playing with Denali, he stayed in character and was a good team player. I would definatly play with him again.

Character Played: Celithrar Xilow (Half-Elf): ------------------------- Your druid was right on queue, and you made a most excellent leader(even if you did not want to be) Wonderful! M.D.

Character Played: Celithrar Xilow (Half-Elf): ------------------------- For a first timer in the multiplayer world, one could not tell. This player played like a veteran. The Paladin was also played to the "T". Though, I still wish I could get more of that Ox meat (sorry guy).

Character Played: Celithrar Xilow (Half-Elf): ------------------------- Celithrar was an excellent Druid. You have the whole druid philosophy thing down, but in a way that is interesting to RP, and not just nature-preachy. Your reactions to the events in the world, and in the party were just fantastic - great RP all around. Too bad the module didn't work out for us, because I was really enjoying the roleplay at the beginning. Hope to see you again soon! (J)

Character Played: Celithrar Xilow (Half-Elf): ------------------------- This guy knew his character well, I thought. It was fun, watching the party chase him and an animal we planned on making into dinner around =P He was more or less the 'leader' of our group (I say more or less only because the group did'nt really seem to NEED one, but he did this well when we did).
