However I think it was rude of him to not warn the DM in advance that he would not be able to play until the scheduled end of the session (and it seems he was aware of this long before the session).

Arex was very convincing and you played him very well, adding a touch of humour to keep away from the stupid warrior stereotype, all in all well rounded. Looking forward to playing with you again !

I can‘t really comment negatively here and be fair because there was a bit of a language barrier here. With that acknowleged, I think the player tried very hard and managed to stay with things pretty well. I admire your courage for playing a game in a second language.
