A good guy to adventure with. I liked how he didn‘t talk much about his religion, but you could see his dedication to Red Night by the way he strategized our battles with the bandits and thoroughly interrogated the prisoner.

Comments in reference to the character Olaf Svenson a Human: Olaf is the survivor of our group, I‘m half tempted to stand next to him during our fights. But I always find myself at the front of the battles, knocking heads. Although, I do envy his assessment of our encounters.
[karvon's reply to comment: Olaf usually brings up the rear for several reasons. 1) It's IC with his more plodding and cautious nature. 2) He's a potent single rearguard, and our DM does like to jump us from behind at times. 3) By wading in after the first rank has engaged, he gets more chances to get in sneak attacks and do a lot more damage. ]

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: I feel sorry for Lynn/Karvon sometimes. Karvon seems to want to progress the story, but these other darn characters keep getting caught up in a discussion about birds and bees across different races. That has got to be a little disquieting.

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: Excellent use of bow fire and wand use during our fight with the zombies. But probably the thing I liked the most last night was the VERY subtle act which could have freed the undominated Emily if only that brute Tharrken hadn‘t shown up. The very natural turning loose of Emily to dig into her backpack was subtle but gave Icelin the chance she needed to get Emily away. It didn‘t work, but that wasn‘t Lyn‘s fault. Lovely piece of work! - KatDragon

Stereotypical dwarf, but well-played! I‘d like to see more perhaps in terms of Dwarvish mannerisms - maybe complain some more about all the walking. Best part of the session: “They‘re over there, next to that fat halfling.“
*Elwyn walks up.*
“I BE A DWARF!“
[karvon's reply to comment: What one considers Dwarvish mannerisms, another may not. eg. I consider Dwarves great marchers due to their ST and CN, so complaining about walking's not something I'd ever do as a dwarf. Riding on the other hand... :) ]

Comments in reference to the character Taras Alexandrov: The Russian stock ‘fighting man‘ has found a new string to his bow. Having taken the captain‘s instruction to get in touch with his feminine side to heart he has, after the death of the NPC steward, taken over responsibility for the meals of the crew and rationing food stock. It‘s quite good to see the PC who at one time mostly sat in his bunk cleaning his weapon actively engaged in group RP in this fashion. He might still be the strong silent type but this is really bringing him on as one of the crew.

Comments in reference to the character Godfrey De Mont: Effectively handled as a front line fighter, and appropriately RPed as such through out. Perhaps a little too inclined to give up the fight and turn back for a Knight of Tyr, but the stern warrior approach was done well.
[karvon's reply to comment: Godfrey is only a man-at-arms in the order at present, a point he repeated more than once, but seemed to be ignored by one and all. Part the internal conflict he strove to deal with was whether or not he really was worthy of advancement, eventually, to the rank of knight. ]

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: End of Campaign review - Tagnar was a slightly late addition to the party, and remained something of a loner for the entire campaign. RPed as a private and quiet dwarf he came to the fore only to push tactics where a fight was certain or when his mercenary instincts were aroused. The instinct for self preservation over that of the group was an issue for the crew occasionally and perhaps contributed to lack of bonding. Capably handled in an engagement, and often there with a healing kit for others if needed, plus RPed consistantly as the grumpy dwarf.

Comments in reference to the character Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: End of Campaign Review - Tagnar, what to say? To be honest I can‘t be sure, since while he fought with the crew and traveled with the crew, he never once made an attempt to know the crew. If the character was supposed to be one-dimensional, aloof, and interested in nothing but mead and getting paid, then I suppose that he was a complete success. He didn‘t play the campaign from the start but still came in rather early, and had plenty of time to develop and associate with the other characters, something that just didn‘t happen. I‘m a little disappointed as I saw, at times, little things that made me want to know the PC better, but never got to.
[karvon's reply to comment: His companions made little, if any, effort to get to know Tagnar, and being a reserved fellow, he didn't take much initiative in that direction. However, I didn't notice much "getting to know you" chats between other PCs either in the time he was aboard. He is a taciturn, stubborn, pragmatic mercenary and not a warm and fuzzy kinda guy. ]

Did not join in any of the RP the entire evening. Not the first time this has happened. Why bother playing in a campaign if you spend much of your time wandering about? Lame.
[karvon's reply to comment: Being she'd just robbed the theater, unbeknownst to the rest of the party, who then argued with the proprietors at length and traipsed off to argue the dispute before the local watch, you'll forgive me if I preferred to make a clean getaway and wait for the dust to settle. ]

Lyndellyn is the group‘s scout and such a role can be an isolating one. I much prefer sessions such as this last one, where there was more conversation and personal interaction between all of the party members. Taras Alexandrov a Human: Not the best of sessions for this PC, as he doesn‘t really stand up in pure RP. Interacted a little over the cooking but with no real input, and no contribution from skills, not the most memorable of perfromances.

I cannot overstate this players commitment to Roleplaying. The character is a difficult one to play “correctly“ and this player does a superb job of staying true to his Half-Orc. Where most players I have come across would disregard and attempt to circumvent the Roleplay restrictions of playing a “difficult“ race...such as all those “surface drow“ with the thinly veiled disguises that they simply “expect“ the DM and players to accept so they don‘t have to be isolated...this player has instead remained for (2) once a week game sessions in isolation while he awaits his comrades who are in a city that would be difficult for him to be in discreetly.
He has done so without even a hint of complaining or grumbling, instead accepting the situation as in character.
I applaud your often times thankless commitment.

Olaf Svenson a Human: Definately the biggest mercenary of the group, quite obviously driven by personal gain, that sometimes became at odds to the nature of the party as a whole when it shifted to a more altruistic approach. Effectively played as a fighter capable of dealing damage when it was needed.

Comments in reference to the character Reye Kallas a Elf: I tagged Reye as a funny character, but the funny comes from her poker-face dry humor and the “oh well, that happened“ attitude she constantly has. I think Reye rounds up the palette of personalities in this group wonderfully. She is of great help, and you can see she cares about what she does, but you can tell her actions are mostly dictated by the sheer pleasure she takes in her stealth and tricks. I see her as the independent wry “daughter“ of the group, myself. - Anya

Comments in reference to the character Reye Kallas a Elf: Again, this is a character whose personality is very well defined in my mind. I see her as the independed wildchild of the group. She is not very affected by things, she satisfies her curiosity and her desires without giving it a second thought (bathing when they‘re on an important mission and without even considering to close the doors) and is mostly interested in buying things, selling things, making profit and sharing loot, which is completely IC.
That being said, I‘m curious to see the reason why she‘s so seemingly shallow and what really lies beneath that materialistic exterior. I‘m also curious to know more about who she likes/dislikes from the group...

Hadrian L. Jones: The Quiet One. But a darn good shot a reliable soldier and a tactically astute warrior, and when he did speak, it was usually important. Though Hadrian seemed to have the occasional tendency to ‘hoard‘ a few pieces of equipment for himself - a handful of medical kits, some weapons - this was entirely in-keeping with the behaviour of a wily veteran soldier, and didn‘t hurt the party at all, in the long run. Hadrian and Karvon joined the campaign late, but they both fitted in well, and without them, the campaign would likely have been the poorer for it.

Hadrian L. Jones a Human: An end of campaign review. A strong contributor to the overall combat effectiveness of the party. Well developed to provide it and played with competance. The character was quiet and didn‘t engage often with the group interactions, but was there when it counted. Good team work and finely played.

Taras Alexandrov : The strong silent type coming over well again. Emoting the reactions of a soldier in the encounter with the torch weilding mob. Comments in reference to the character Reye Kallas a Elf: What a great mischevious little elf! Even ghosts can‘t see her when she‘s tiptoing in the darkness... Reye made sense completely, from her desire to make sure there‘s always an exit in sight to her motivation for having stolen treasure out of Shevarash‘s shrine, she seems a free spirit and someone who knows what matters. I am excited to see more of her personality, and especially the relationships she develops. After all, Cadyn may be her complete opposite, but he is a moon elf too :) - Anya

Zzarg came out of his shell a little bit last night. Our big black sheep of the group. This player plays his PC well in the sense that he is happy to follow the others and seems to always attract the unwelcomed attention, but what do you expect with a half-orc? I enjoy seeing this player come up with the small comments that Zzarg will spit out in the middle of a conversation that completely shows his brutish/orc backgroud. “Let kill for shiny stuff...“ Zzarg is evolving as a PC and definately adds flavor to the group. Good job!

Zzarg is quiet and reserved, fitting for his situation. He has also shown a keen interest in shiny things. The character comes across a bit “flat“ but it is important to note that having 4 other players at the “front“ of the stage, it is important to have the black sheep in the rear. It gives the stage depth. Well played, with that said I would like to see some more of your character‘s personality come to the surface, the party having a year + back story I would think that some of the inner Zzarg would be seen by his long time companions.

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: The mercenary nature of Tagnar came to fore again, speaking out to push the idea of working for money and insisting someone was holding out on him. The disinterest in the memory restoration potion was obvious too. Some creative RPing of a character who is critical of the group‘s direction without letting it interfere with play. Nicely done.

Although, after rescueing the Prince, Dorwin assumed the lead scout position without anyone asking. Thanks for that. I was getting tired of taking arrows to the body before we seen the enemy. I can‘t help but wonder what this character is supposed to be. He doesn‘t really seem to contribute to the story beyond being present and, thus, providing an extra hunk of mass between us and defeat at the hands of whatever monsters D&D throws our way. I‘m not about to object to the idea of playing an extra in a plot, to be sure, as long as it‘s interesting to play, and I could see a reason for Zzarg to be as withdrawn as he is (namely, being a member of a race that is pretty universally hated in the location the campaign is taking place - I tend to think that ALFA and NWC have very different ideas of what the hack n‘ slash v. roleplaying slider represents, too, so Nalo may have misrepresented the community we‘re from there.), but I‘m looking at the (minimal) interactions in the past two sessions and wondering “Why not bring in a character who you could/would do more with?“
[karvon's reply to comment: Zzarg has his own style and pace. In addition, a time or two his queries were overlooked, or ignored, in lively chatting of the rest of the party. ]

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: The purposeful nature of Tagnar when it comes to certain actions, and his single-mindedness in achieving them, is becoming an asset on occasion. I‘ve noticed, though, that he rarely speaks about anything other than The Job. Strong, silent, perhaps, but I‘m sure nobody would complain if he responded to idle chatting.

Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: Hadrian tried to take a controlling stance this time over the questioning of the shepherd. Not that the others involved were going to risk him being alone with the shepherd, but a nice try RP wise. Perhaps a bit more suspicious than he should have been given no one actually saw what happened, damn that party chat giving things away, but well played.
[karvon's reply to comment: Actually I didn't read the party dialog of what the shepherd did in the med bay, so don't know exactly what happened, just surmised based on Hadrians security background :) ]

Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: A Mercenary vet - calm and tough. Although we have yet to see this guy in combat action, I am fairly certain that the show will be impressive. The player plays him well - very believable. I am really looking forward to seeing this character develop.

Comments in reference to the character Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: As always, Tagnar steams ahead to the finish. No distractions, no unnecessary blabbing, he‘s there to get the job done, even if he has to beat in a few devil skulls. Particularly enjoyed him taking a nap while the rest of the crew debated the plan of action.

Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Welliem embodies all the values that this group stands for, ie greed and self interest ;) But, what‘s this?, is the mask slipping? In the absence of Selene, the group‘s healer, Welliem stepped into the breach like a mother hen and made sure that the group all survived! Of course, in his accustomed gruff manner, he would simply claim that it was in his own interests to do so :) Very good game.

Rightly standing back in negotiating, but to the point and certain about what he needed to know once the deal was struck. Took the group forward nicely, moving them on when they needed a little push. RP was once more equally excellent, so for delivering that push BiG.

This character‘s mercenary behavior is very refreshing, due to my lack of experience as an RPer on NWN. Most everyone wants to play as the hero, but this character seems to just want some gold and to keep himself alive. Also of note is how amazing on the front lines you are. :-D Good game.

He is little concerned with the mission or the party and will happily abandon both if something that pays better comes along. He cares not for such trifles as honour, loyalty or comradeship. Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: There was no use made of his strength in arms, but the fighter still came over strongly in a highly entertaining session of RP. The consideration shown for the kittens was being a quite interesting character revelation, and the snoozes were humorous. Some superb teamwork over the solution of the invisible maze, and a strong contribution to the approach. As was the more immediately successful approach to not getting his hands dirty. A fine contribution to an outstanding session.

Comments in reference to the character Zzarg a : Worked exceptionally well with his partner. When it benefits him, Zzarg can be an effective scout, and can provide useful advice. He can even think decently well on his feet. I hope this character returns, so we can get to know a bit more about who he is, and what he‘s after.

Comments in reference to the character Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: (Add Comments Here). Karvon knows the game and the realms...tagnar a strong character developing but karvon must find creative license to make him help the game move forward and be aware of the effect his style of play/ character has on a gaming session...being a selfish grumpy dissenting force can be great- but not if it detracts rather than adds to everyone‘s fun...be your character, but/add extrapolite reasons why he‘d work together as part of a team and to move the adventure along...more forum contributions by all will facilitate this i trust.

Answer---- Karsk!

|
 |
| 07/17/07 |
Karsk is a practical half orc. Give him meat, drink, and an occasional troll to bash then he‘s content. This may be the one thing that keeps him sane, unlike the others. The meaningful glances at the boar and the nukachu, the tossed bit of meat to the cat are nice touches in a creatively played character.

This was a hard character to rate... He was quiet and didn‘t really stay with the group, but (if I gathered correctly) that was part of the concept and shouldn‘t be considered a negative. Also, it‘s always good to have one character thinking about money or a group will quickly starve to death...

Comments in reference to the character Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: A bit of a rough start I know, sometimes it’s inevitable, as bad things happen when you least expect it. Try to come into each session without any preconceived notions and remember your characters are shaping this story as you go, which means that the DM’s are required to ad-lib as we go, and that takes clock cycles on our brains. If you ever see something wrong or out of place then bring it up and will try to role-play it out. Anything out of the box will be rewarded accordingly. Everyone did a good job and I’m looking forward to the next session and your post…LION

Brother John started to act more like a priest than an adventurer this time, and I was glad to see it. I personally like it when people play clerics as something other than “healing machines in plate mail.“ Lliira‘s clerics are called “joy bringers“ and it‘s good to see John working on doing just that in a party that really needs it.

Almost BIG for me. Williem displayed the knowledge of tactical warfare that helped in development of his character. Despite a quick to attack miss hap and an obvious distance afterwards, he was still very well RP‘d and was able to lead the group without having to take point.

Comments in reference to the character Grom a Green Ork: Once again, Grom proved an excellent addition to the game as a whole. If there is any criticism, it would perhaps be stealing the GMs thunder a little when the plot is obviously coming into light - it was still in-character, but judicious decision-making about when to bring Grom‘s lack of attention in would go a long way for me. Great game nonetheless! Looking forward to next time.

Stanley was a lazy bum! Well played. Was not a “silent as death“ character, used a lot of appropriate emotes. Some good insights as well. Nearly monkish in his lack of letting anything affect him. Hopefully will get to meet him again.

Comments in reference to the character Reye Kallas a Elf: Because the party was split, there was not a whole lot for Reye to do while the DMs dealt with the other half of the party. We learned that Olaf may not be as dumb as he lets on - he was the one in the group who expressed doubts about going back up against the dragon that had slaughtered everyone. Comments in reference to the character Reye Kallas a Elf:
Creative, as always, very much on the chaotic side, used stealth abilities to the maximum, per the character. A very close toss-up with another player, but in the end, deserved Best In Game, for playing the role as laid out, that of a more or less self-interested rogue, that also managed to help the party get information and was generally more proactive in solving the scenario goal than the other characters. Very high initiative character. This player‘s pc is well played, every time I see it in a scenario.

Sorry to tee off on you, but it‘s one thing to walk off by yourself and not participate in current plot discussions every week. It‘s another to willfully sit out the whole game.

It wasn't made clear to him the party was going off on a major mission - he was doing something else at the time. Even OOC, I thought you were just going to get some gear needed or talk to someone else. When the other person, also left behind by the other two, talked with him about it, he told Olaf to wait a couple of days before taking further action - reinforcing what Olaf thought was important as far as prepping for the ]

Comments in reference to the character Sparrow a Elf: Well, this certainly wasn‘t game much for roleplaying, but still I thought your gameplay was spot on. :) I liked how you tried to direct the other members of the rather chaotic party to goals and what traps to avoid. You were indispensible for finding all the secret doors in the module. Thanks!

Comments in reference to the character Suliman ibn Moshad a Human: I thought you co-lead the group with Spenta very well. With your help, we seem to be progressing into the tomb successfully. I also thought you roleplayed your little scene with Spenta quite well. I love how you‘ve naturally integrated yourself with the party. Welcome to the group. :)

Comments in reference to the character Suliman ibn Moshad a Human: Nice roleplaying! I like your continued references to the sun and the desert. Very realistic! Also, bravo and standing ovation on the puzzle solving! BIG for roleplaying and solving the puzzles! A welcome addition to the campaign. Wish you were here from the beginning.

What can I say, you tried, in trying circumstances, to get your compatriots to work as a team, sorry the game didnt go quite according to plan. Hope we can play again in a better setting with a better set of players...such is life with an open session.

Comments in reference to the character Abdul ibn Hassan a Human: Abdul was an interesting character - I liked his protectiveness towards his pig ;) - but it was rather unfortunate that every time there was a choice to be made about what to do, Abdul made the wrong one. :P It was a shame that the session ran so late, as the end was only a few minutes after you had to leave.

Comments in reference to the character Suliman ibn Moshad a Human: Welcome to the group. I‘ve appreciated the muscle you provide to the group to improve our combat survival. Comments in reference to the character Suliman ibn Moshad a Human: It looks like Suliman will prove a welcome addition. The group needs a moral compass but beware, even the most stalwart of paladins can be corrupted in this place. I liked the background you posted. It fits perfect with the modules environment and you roleplayed your relations to the Askar tribe and the desert environment perfectly! One minor roleplaying note. Please do not take offense. But when you find an item don‘t say it‘s a +8 Halberd. All the players can get the stats of any item just by using the examine function. Try saying something like this is indeed a magical weapon. The runes on its blades show it is imbued with fire magic or power against the undead. It just has more of a roleplaying atmosphere than saying I found a +3 broadsword. Otherwise, I look forward to adventuring with Suliman in the future!

Awesome player! Good solid character that was well played. Worked exceptionally well with other players, playing to their strengths and helped the whole group to work together better. Was considerate of the DMs inexperience and took actions and “non-actions“ that helped the game run more smoothly for me. Stepped back and allowed combats to be balanced and fun for all players even when she could have dominated the combat with her tactics. Was the peak player in a group of good players. Well done and Thanks!

Comments in reference to the character Olaf Svenson a Human: Olaf‘s really gotten kind‘ve standoffish the past couple sessions. Outside of battle, he tends to go off on his own, standing sentry or just chillin‘. Or getting dragged to the drunk tank. ;)
