Reviews To Date for karvon

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: Good suggestions were made about scouting the Hag‘s position. She also held her own with Simius‘ terse attitude.

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: The enigmatic Lyndellyn stepped into the leadership role easily tonight, yet provided a bit of humor as she slapped the overly-excited hin on the back of the head to bring him to order.

Comments in reference to the character Zzarg a Ork: (Add Comments Here) Zzarg came out of his shell a little bit last night. Our big black sheep of the group. This player plays his PC well in the sense that he is happy to follow the others and seems to always attract the unwelcomed attention, but what do you expect with a half-orc? I enjoy seeing this player come up with the small comments that Zzarg will spit out in the middle of a conversation that completely shows his brutish/orc backgroud. “Let kill for shiny stuff...“ Zzarg is evolving as a PC and definately adds flavor to the group. Good job!

Zzarg is quiet and reserved, fitting for his situation. He has also shown a keen interest in shiny things. The character comes across a bit “flat“ but it is important to note that having 4 other players at the “front“ of the stage, it is important to have the black sheep in the rear. It gives the stage depth. Well played, with that said I would like to see some more of your character‘s personality come to the surface, the party having a year + back story I would think that some of the inner Zzarg would be seen by his long time companions.

Hadrian L. Jones a Human: Worked a good tactical game in every sense of the word. Definately the strong silent type.
09/24/08
Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: The mercenary nature of Tagnar came to fore again, speaking out to push the idea of working for money and insisting someone was holding out on him. The disinterest in the memory restoration potion was obvious too. Some creative RPing of a character who is critical of the group‘s direction without letting it interfere with play. Nicely done.

Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Welliem: The classical strong, silent type. Never anything much to say unless he thought it was absolutely necessary. Hard to pull off sometimes, but never stepped out of character in four weeks!

Comments in reference to the character Dorwin Shadowcreeper a Elf: Dorwin is a no-nonsense rogue that is probably enjoying letting Karla lead. Although, after rescueing the Prince, Dorwin assumed the lead scout position without anyone asking. Thanks for that. I was getting tired of taking arrows to the body before we seen the enemy. It took us a while to locate the Prince, but after that it was all down hill. I had fun, hope you did too.

Comments in reference to the character Dorwin Shadowcreeper a Elf: BIG, your character is complex and deep. I like the fact that you hung back and let Karla lead us off into the mist. Your comments showed that you felt your skills were not being used to the best possible. And that you were okay with hanging towards the back.
09/14/08
Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Welliem is a good warrior and able party member. His love of the coin seems to separate him from some of the party, while endearing him as a brother-in-arms to Grim. Very well RP‘ed. Enjoying the game with him in the party, and anxious to see what comes next.
09/11/08
Comments in reference to the character Zzarg a Ork: (Add Comments Here) I found the RP of this character to be very interesting. A very well played loner type of character. It was challenging to play opposite this character.

Comments in reference to the character Zzarg a Ork: (Add Comments Here) I can‘t help but wonder what this character is supposed to be. He doesn‘t really seem to contribute to the story beyond being present and, thus, providing an extra hunk of mass between us and defeat at the hands of whatever monsters D&D throws our way. I‘m not about to object to the idea of playing an extra in a plot, to be sure, as long as it‘s interesting to play, and I could see a reason for Zzarg to be as withdrawn as he is (namely, being a member of a race that is pretty universally hated in the location the campaign is taking place - I tend to think that ALFA and NWC have very different ideas of what the hack n‘ slash v. roleplaying slider represents, too, so Nalo may have misrepresented the community we‘re from there.), but I‘m looking at the (minimal) interactions in the past two sessions and wondering “Why not bring in a character who you could/would do more with?“

[karvon's reply to comment: Zzarg has his own style and pace. In addition, a time or two his queries were overlooked, or ignored, in lively chatting of the rest of the party.

Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: I don‘t know if it‘s their bald heads or their penchant for shrugging or their devil-may-care attitude, but Welliem and Grigorious are alike in all those respects. It‘s fun to watch these two men‘s men be all cool, especially around the other upstanding members of the party - Anya

Taras Alexandrov a Human: A big, and fairly silent type, soldier with something of an independant streak that might give the captain a headache yet. Scouting was effectively carried out without the use of sneaking, a better method for the setting.

Comments in reference to the character Dorwin Shadowcreeper a Elf: Well played character, although I know the player would not cheat us out of the reward, because the character was missing with our quest item, I was feeling nervous. Turns out, he thought we were ready to go, when we really got sidetracked into saving more slaves and a priestess. Well played, Karvon.

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: Another good game from the fighter. Solid work in the combat and the continuance of his disinterest in the politics of the groups actions was amusing. Good game.

The trek along the mountain path with it‘s accompanying hazards of cave-ins and traps proved a challenge for the party. Thankfully they were able to rely on Lyndellyn‘s abilities to mark a safe route for the party to progress. Well played.
07/12/08
Lyndellynn: Lyndellynn had a tough outing with traps that refused to be disabled and tunnels that refused entrance. But she handled everything with her usual calm manner and fatalistic shrug. Great game.
07/06/08
Comments in reference to the character Dorwin Shadowcreeper a Elf: While Dorwin may not be a leader, per se. He is our best scout, and treasure collector. Great play, thanks for joining us.

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: I am paying close attention to Lyndellynn since it seems our characters are somewhat similar. Both scouts, both elven. I‘m wondering if there will be a bond based on that or a rivalry. So far, Modrinn did not see eye to eye with her but the fact they can gossip in elven may bring them closer as allies. ~Anya
06/25/08
Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: The purposeful nature of Tagnar when it comes to certain actions, and his single-mindedness in achieving them, is becoming an asset on occasion. Particularly given the flightly tendancies of some of the group. His “pass the buck“ attitude over the potential meeting with the cult was amusing. Good stuff.
06/24/08
Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: He did a good job keeping his cool during the gunfight, and showed quick decision making in leading the wounded away from it. He still seems a little aloof, but that‘s just how some people are.
06/24/08
Hadrian L. Jones a Human: Good work around the aftermath of the gunfight, with the timely idea of removing the ship form the area. Commanding when needing but then following the RP by handing it over and engaging in the discussion on what to do next.
06/17/08
Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: While when work needs to be done, Hadrian‘s always ready to do it. He‘s a true professional, and it‘s easy to detect his military origin. I‘ve noticed, though, that he rarely speaks about anything other than The Job. Strong, silent, perhaps, but I‘m sure nobody would complain if he responded to idle chatting.

[karvon's reply to comment: Bah typical "civi" idle chit chat, waste a time :)

06/17/08
Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: Hadrian tried to take a controlling stance this time over the questioning of the shepherd. Not that the others involved were going to risk him being alone with the shepherd, but a nice try RP wise. Perhaps a bit more suspicious than he should have been given no one actually saw what happened, damn that party chat giving things away, but well played.

[karvon's reply to comment: Actually I didn't read the party dialog of what the shepherd did in the med bay, so don't know exactly what happened, just surmised based on Hadrians security background :)

Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Great game, I like how you mop up all enemies and can still take a joke from Gaylard. Hmmph, like you really owe him for his simple bard services, 100,000 gold, yeah right.

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: Good job on scouting, laying out the obstacles clearly and precisely. It seems that Lyn is a loner by nature, but tonight, I saw a bit more interaction. That‘s a good thing!

Lyndellynn: Wanderlust is defintely the core for this character. She can barely stay still and obviously loves to see what is around that next corner. Just be careful she doesn‘t wander too far from the help of her companions. *winks*
06/06/08
Where would the Pony Riders be without Hami the Hammer? He is always a great addition to the group.
06/06/08
Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: Camping outside the city when the rest of the players were looking for an inn in which to sleep was a nice touch for the wilderness elf.

Hadrian L. Jones a Human: Definately a turn in his approach, from neutrality last session to advocating murder. Well represented throughout and good supportive RP.
06/03/08
Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: Hadrain‘s obviously the strong, silent type, but he‘s believable as a man who‘s pragmatic above all else - a trait which stood out this time.

Lyndellyn: Truly enigmatic, Lyn says more with her *ponders and thinks* than most characters say with lines of dialogue. Perhaps she will be more forthcoming in future scenarios, but one can appreciate the quiet, steadfast scout.

05/20/08
Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: Whatever else you can say about Hadrian, it‘s obvious he has military experience! Very clearly a soldier, and believable in that as well.
05/20/08
Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: I‘m stuck for words this time as, in a session that was pure RP, all the players were simply inspired in their contributions. Everyone deserved a BiG, I just wish I could give more than one.
05/20/08
Hadrian L. Jones a Human: It‘s not easy to judge how a character would respond to witnessing a violent interrogation, but K did so very well. A good example of maintaining a balanced approach with a PC under pressure.
05/19/08
Comments in reference to the character Hadrian L. Jones a Human: A Mercenary vet - calm and tough. Although we have yet to see this guy in combat action, I am fairly certain that the show will be impressive. The player plays him well - very believable. I am really looking forward to seeing this character develop.

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: Definately showed himself as a survivor this time, with his pragmatic approach to getting the hell out of Baator at the run. And why leave a perfectly good inn to go and get a reward? Really amusing stuff.
05/13/08
Stanley seems to be a stout realist, a bit insouciant at times, but nevertheless a reasonably good fellow ;) His non-chalance didn‘t fool me a bit ;) !

Comments in reference to the character Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: As always, Tagnar steams ahead to the finish. No distractions, no unnecessary blabbing, he‘s there to get the job done, even if he has to beat in a few devil skulls. Particularly enjoyed him taking a nap while the rest of the crew debated the plan of action.
05/06/08
Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Welliem embodies all the values that this group stands for, ie greed and self interest ;) But, what‘s this?, is the mask slipping? In the absence of Selene, the group‘s healer, Welliem stepped into the breach like a mother hen and made sure that the group all survived! Of course, in his accustomed gruff manner, he would simply claim that it was in his own interests to do so :) Very good game.

[karvon's reply to comment: Yeah... gotta keep the canon fodder, er... team mates up and running to be successful.

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: Another fine game all round. Not when were the PCs abilities to shine, but some fine RP none the less. As ever moving the party along with his pragmatism. Good game.

Lyndellynn: Steady as a rock...but I did notice how she edged away when Blaze was getting the whatfor from the Guard Captain...hmmm. lol. Well played.

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: Very well played. The quiet scout, something this group really needs. It is always a joy to play with this character.
04/22/08
Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: Another session where the fighter really helped control what the group were going to do. His pragmatism is a nice slant on the portrayal of a dwarf. Well played tactically and nicely done RP wise.

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: A useful switch in the fighter‘s approach this time. Rightly standing back in negotiating, but to the point and certain about what he needed to know once the deal was struck. Took the group forward nicely, moving them on when they needed a little push. RP was once more equally excellent, so for delivering that push BiG.

This character‘s mercenary behavior is very refreshing, due to my lack of experience as an RPer on NWN. Most everyone wants to play as the hero, but this character seems to just want some gold and to keep himself alive. Also of note is how amazing on the front lines you are. :-D Good game.
03/31/08
Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Karvon has created a taciturn mercenary character who cares little for friendship, honour, good deeds or law and order. He kills for gold. It‘s that simple. The performance is marvellous. He is always perfectly in character. It is a pleasure to watch. BIG.

Comments in reference to the character Lyndellynn a Elf: She seems to have settled into the role as the party‘s primary scout, claiming the role for herself rather than having it assigned. It‘s a good job really as otherwise I‘m pretty sure we would have blundered into something unpleasant with sharp teeth or swords by now. Thanks for saving our skins.

Lyndellynn: Really beginning to shine to Lyndellynn‘s dry comments and more solemn ways. Her value as they group‘s scout is yet to be fully recognized. If only they would stick together while she goes ahead. Ah well, they‘ll learn.

Came on with a brand new character and managed to fit in seamlessly with the game world. Rp‘d great through out a brief but fun adventure.

Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Welliem is a mercenary to the manner born. He is little concerned with the mission or the party and will happily abandon both if something that pays better comes along. He cares not for such trifles as honour, loyalty or comradeship. The party will have to watch him carefully. A strong portrayal of a chaotic neutral mercenary.

Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: A great party member who is always welcome back! He is a no nonsense character who will do what he thinks is right, despite what others might say or do.

Comments in reference to the character Welliem a Human: Although his choice of leaving the party and heading back to Silverymoon placed the rest of the group in peril, it was brilliantly played in accordance to (I assume) his alignment. His RP‘ing and in character actions made him my choice as Best in Game (other than myself, of course).

Comments in reference to the character Brother John a Human: Yet again you manage to take a moral stand for your faith. I applaud you (standing O). Last session your refusal to raise a blackblade for information, and this week you..... um, well, I don‘t remember right now, but it reminded me of last week. Kudos.

Comments in reference to the character Brother John a Human: only goodness comes out of John (especialy with all these aligment spells he buffs himself with) and even a drow doesn‘t seem to make him lose temper or get angry

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: There was no use made of his strength in arms, but the fighter still came over strongly in a highly entertaining session of RP. The consideration shown for the kittens was being a quite interesting character revelation, and the snoozes were humorous. Some superb teamwork over the solution of the invisible maze, and a strong contribution to the approach. As was the more immediately successful approach to not getting his hands dirty. A fine contribution to an outstanding session.

Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: Second session for the fighter, and the first where he had a chance to truly interact. A little of his character began to shine through, playing off the others and giving them a chance to reacte too. Slotted in well with the PCs and provided a solid front line in the encounters. Well played.

A great showing. I almost fell out of my chair when he tried to question Piddle. He was perfect as the palace guard out in the world for the fist time since he was 14. Very funny. Authoritative and awkward. And he played his alignment to a tee always trying to find order in what could only be described as chaos.

Nice scout job. His abilities allowed all the group to make tactics and provided a safe fight, especially for the weakest characters, like the mage, the druid and the bard.

Comments in reference to the character Dorwin Shadowcreeper a Elf: More quiet than most, but with a name like “Shadowcreeper“ that is to be expected. Excellent role playing -- particularly the seeming disinterest in idle “banter“ -- I imagine that he has more than a few secrets and possibly some “surprises“ up his sleeve as well.

An excellent addition to the campaign. A skilled role-player with a solid understanding of NWN game mechanics. He was able to stretch the rules to their limit, but did it in a seamless manor that didn‘t threaten the other players immersion. I hope he decides to stick around for a while.

Look forward to your participation in the next session.

Comments in reference to the character Tagnar White Granite a Dwarf: (Add Comments Here). Karvon knows the game and the realms...tagnar a strong character developing but karvon must find creative license to make him help the game move forward and be aware of the effect his style of play/ character has on a gaming session...being a selfish grumpy dissenting force can be great- but not if it detracts rather than adds to everyone‘s fun...be your character, but/add extrapolite reasons why he‘d work together as part of a team and to move the adventure along...more forum contributions by all will facilitate this i trust.
