Character Profiles: Ben Wheldrake the Ranger
"I try to avoid going toe-to-toe with the enemy. Far better to scout a position, understand its weaknesses, discuss a strategy, and then work around the edges. I often hide (rather successfully), shoot from the shadows, then hide again. With my light armor and significant archery skills, this works better for me."
"This said, as soon as a party member is in danger, or if my stealth is detected and I start receiving fire, I will enter combat, even if it is at great risk to myself. I value friends highly, and will do almost anything to save someone in danger, even if the odds objectively seem stacked against me. When the cold-hearted hand of Fate comes for one of us, how can we gainsay her?"
"I will follow a noble or great-hearted leader willingly, but only grudgingly take the reins of command myself. I believe that foul beasts and evil-hearted men deserve to die, for they live only to bring death and suffering to others. The restless dead especially deserve to be sent to their final resting place, and they are my particular enemy, above all else."
"Where I come from, I cannot remember. Each time I manage to find some portion of the peace and rest to which all beings aspire, the fickle hand of Fate thrusts me across the quasi-infinite spheres of the multiverse into new dangers. Memories of the past seem to pale and fade as they cross the noisome chaos of the megaflux. I believe I was once another man, but who can now say? Perhaps one day my travail will be at an end, and I will be allowed to find rest."
