A survivor of a rare illithid attack to the surface, Shard's entire family was taken into slavery. Hiding while his fellow elves were chained, or slain, he escaped, eking out an existence of petty theft, and hunting. Stealing a ride on a caravan bound for (insert city's name here), he was taken in by a small-time thieves' guildmaster, eventually training him in the roguish arts.
