Alex was found as a newborn at a village razed by nearby forces during a war. He was then raised by sensei Hikari, an oriental man who taught him his ways. At puberty Alex's innate gift surfaced, he found that he could channel magic, especially fiery magic. At first his lack of control made him a danger to himself and others, which led to the other children shunning him, and calling him "Firebringer". As Alex grew up he decided to keep his "nickname".
