Jon Willows

Jon Willows was abandoned by his mother as a baby. He was found and raised by a reclusive druid who was an elf-friend but would have no dealings with his fellow human kin. Jon was often alone during his early childhood, removed from human civilisation and considered a curious oddity by the wood elves, who had occasional dealings with his mentor, the druid Aldan Ordgaid. The forest became Jon's playground and his best childhood friend became the druid's animal companion, a panther called Cloudplay. At age of 7 the child had become so wild and impossible, Aldan became convinced he could not raise Jon and the child needed to be among people to grow up. The druid would not send Jon back to human civilisation, which he disapproved of, so it would be elves instead. A tribe of wood elves agreed to raise Jon, amused by the strange little boy. Istar, a wise old elven tribe elder taught Jon as much about his human origins as he could. When Jon became a young man, Istar for the first time took Jon to a human frontier farming village on the border of the great wildlands. Jon realised he had little left in common with the people of the farming community and decided to return to the wilds, but wise Istar knowing Jon had never had the chance to choose between humanity or seclusion, unlike his old mentor, set up Jon as a mediator between the tribe and the community. Through Jon the elves traded magical cures and enchanted wood for iron, while Jon got to know the humans better. He got the surname Willows, which was the name for bastards among the pioneers. In his role as spokesman for the elves Jon Willows occasionally travelled deeper into the civilised world where he came in contact with the other various races, but Jon would never feel at home among any of them. Jon also returned the old druid on rare visits, but Aldan had become strange and silent, his only interest in plants and animals.
