The infant Perfidious (His elfish name was never known) was discovered by a group of adventuring halflings belonging to the Pigsniffle clan of Undershire. He was found hidden in a dustbin of a ruined Elvin settlement the only apparent survivor from the aftermath of a band of brigand raiders and slavers. The orphaned elf child was taken back to the halfling settlement and given to the elderly widow, Granny Nellie "Lightfingers" Pigsniffle, to be raised as she saw fit. Granny was a kindly old crone who was renown for her mastery of the "Stealthy Arts", as she liked to call them, in her youth. Spry and elf quick the young Perfidious was eager to learn all that Granny Pigsniffle had to impart. It was soon apparent to Granny that the Elvin youth was a gifted student, but that he also had a dark side, which she could never get him to control. His nefarious deeds and cruelties were so numerous that by his twentieth season among the halflings, Perfidious was so feared and hated by all in the clan that the Pigsniffle elders cast him out admonishing him to never return to Undershire under penalty of death. Thus cast out the young Perfidious set off to make his mark in the world or more correctly stated to “find his mark” for the young elf cared not for others, though he carries to this day a soft spot in his heart for Granny Pigsniffle. As the long years of his life moved along, the blackness of Perfidious’s heart began to fade as he began to realize that to survive in the world he would need to work with others in order to further his own somewhat selfish interests and needs. Thus those that could stand to be in his loathsome presence for an extended period of time found that as long Perfidious was well compensated he could be trusted, however it was always best to keep him under a watchful eye.....
