Even before the ancient dragon Sathanas told Card about the true nature of his blood, life was one ride after another. First, he begins to awaken his draconic blood as he and his companions journey from the depths of hell to the ethereal plane and back. Then, having become involved in a plot to stop a god-like construct, he searches out pieces of an ancient rod in hopes that it's power can destroy that which the ancient dragons could only hold at bay.
