Malston Creager
Malston Creager is a retired traveling magician. He is 50 something in age, but actually carries himself a bit older. Malston began entertaining people at an earlier age. By the time he was 18 he had put together a production and went on the road. His show was the talk of many inns in many cities. Malston fell in love with a young half-elven bard when he was 30 years young. Together they had a child and had plans for a great life together. When their child was 5, Malston and his wife decided it would be a good idea to "settle down". Malston's wife took their child and moved to the quiet city they had met each other in. Malston and his wife agreed that it would be a good idea for him to take one last "go around" and make money so that they could retire together comfortably. At a time that Malston was very very far away from home, war broke out all over the continent. He was far away from his family, with no way to get back to them quickly. Years and years passed as Malston tried every way possible to get back home. The battle lines were drawn and he was not allowed to cross. Attempt after unsuccessful attempt ruined the will of the traveling magician and he finally found a quiet village to call home. After 7 years the war ended. Hundreds of thousands of people had died. Malston gathered his belongings and traveled home. As Malston arrived back to his favorite city and home, an old guardsman looked into his eyes. Without saying a word, he knew what the old protector was going to tell him. "My friend, welcome back..." Malston nodded without saying a word and looked towards the home that he had missed for so long. "I want you to know..this small city put up a big fight against the enemy for the last 7 years. Men, women, and childern, fought for what they believed was right as well as for their freedom. There is a flower garden in the center of the city to honor those of us who fell in the war. Next to each flower is the name of one who passed on while protecting us. I think should go there my friend." With tears trailing down his face, the old man walked to the center of town. The center was quiet with people sitting and standing around a beautiful bed of flowers. Malston walked up and looked around with teary eyes half opened. An older lady took his hand and whispered that it was "alright". After a few minutes of searching Malston did not see any flowers with the names of his loved ones. He began to breathe easier and turned his head towards home. Just at that point, a young boy spoke, "Mommy, look at these pretty purple ones." The boy said. Malston turned and saw 2 of the most colorful, purple flowers he had ever seen. The color of all of his magical robes. The color his wife knew he loved. Malston moved towards the flowers and read the names. They were, infact, his familys. "I have lived my life entertaining others" The old man thought to himself. "Now the only people I care to entertain are gone, all because of war." Malston walked to his boarded up home and began cleaning it up. He kept everything exactly like it was when he walked it. Although Malston will never get over the loss of his family, he still feels that he has a purpose and won't give up. He helps the kind people of his city whenever it is needed. He continues to teach the young childern magic and works on his skills daily. He believes that all childern are his childern. He entertains at the flower garden once every new moon in honor of those who fell during war. His dream is to be remembered not as a great entertaining magician but a kind, helpful person.
