Anoikis Mtor
His tribe places their surname first (Anoikis). Pronounced 'a-noy-kiss em-tor.' Anoikis Mtor has black hair and green eyes, he stands taller than many of his fellow elves and his skin is somewhat darker than many elves. He grew up in a medium-sized woodland village near the ocean. His Father was a proud elf who rejected the long Anoikis family tradition of farming daebeans and raising cows in favor of work on a deep sea fishing vessel. His Father would leave for weeks to months at a time, but always come back happy with money in his pocket and exotic gifts from far off lands. From an early age Mtor loved the woods and the woodland creatures. He knew of the stories of Drow armies invading his village and burning down portions of the forest; but this happened well before he was born. He has also heard the tales of descendents of these invaders having darker skin. As a youth, he had little time to worry about these things; he was too busy helping his mother run the household and provide for the family, as Mtor was the eldest child. Mtor's mother always seemed melancholy to him, he did not know why. He was able to take trips to visit Anoikis Jak his father's brother who was a wizard, and argue with him about the merits of pure nature vs. the magical world. One day, in his mid adolescence, Mtor's father returned from a long sojourn overseas. He was laden with gold and gems and exotic items. He had a gift for his son. A bow. A bow made by elves from a far-off tribe that he had never heard of. Moreover, he had amazing stories about slaying fell beasts and collecting their horded treasure. That night, Mtor heard shouts from his parents' quarters. He got up to evesdrop on the argument. It was clear that his father a taken a lover in one of his ports-of-call; a HUMAN woman! The next morning, his Father came to him to have a conversation. His father explained that he would be leaving for good to be with his new lover, a young woman. He had spoken with the priests of the village to have his marriage annulled and accept the voluntary banishment that came with it. He said he Mtor will now be the elf of the house. He told Mtor where he would be living and hoped he would visit in the future. He explained to Mtor that he might understand his choices in the future. He left almost all of his accumulated gold and treasure to support the family until Mtor was old enough to formally provide for the Anoikis clan. Mtor was already earning money as a tracker for elven and sometimes human hunting parties in the nearby forest. As he became older and stronger, he was drawn to the sea like his father. And since his father had taught him how to navigate and fish, he would lead fishing group on holiday trips. Of these hunting and fishing forays, he demanded that the game be treated with respect and only those species that were plentiful be taken. His wise management of nature was duly noted by the tribal elders and he was given official warden powers to help protect the natural world surrounding the village. He killed more than one orc and dwarf poacher with his bow, and was surprised at how easy it was for him. Perhaps he was angry at his father and this was his outlet. Moreover, his mother had sunk into a deep depression ever since his father left. On one beautiful spring day he left for a 3-day fishing trip with some wealthy humans that were vacationing nearby. His younger brother was visiting Anoikis Jak in a far off village. His mother and younger sister were at home when it happened. That night, a cohort of Drow with a small army of undead invaded his beloved village. They easily overpowered the guards, killed dozens of elves, used and killed the she-elves and children and burned part of the forest. As Mtor was riding back to town he first smelled and saw the smoke then realized to his horror what had happened. Upon returning to his home, he found it in shambles. A few elves were wandering about, bloodied and shocked. His younger sister lay on the floor, dead. He found his mother; she was barely alive. In her dying words, she told him the horror of what had happened and she shocked him. "The last time our village was raided by the Drow was before I was born. But I was born soon after. My father was one of the drow invaders, my mother survived the attack and bore me! You are one quarter Drow." She died soon after. In the aftermath, the small cadre of survivors began to look for scapegoats. "you- Anoikis clan member, with your dark skin like the Drow and your Father with all of his riches- this is your fault, the invaded for the Anoikis loot! You're one of them, a spy!! Mtor ignored this, but soon after he resolved to destroy these invaders. He went into the woods himself and tracked them. He found a cave after a two-weeks journey. He stole away inside, knowing it was foolhardy. Well the cave complex was full of skeletons, zombies, and other remnants of the drow undead army but no Drow were to be found. He never did find the portal to the Drow underdark but he utterly destroyed their undead army. Barely escaping with his life, he retreated to Anoikis Jak's home. His brother had been kept there since the attack. His uncle and his nature priestes wife helped nurse Mtor back to health. One day his uncle appeared to him. "Mtor, you cannot go back to your village. They will destroy you. They blame our family for the invasion. Your father's treasure may have contained things sacred to the Drow. I know that he has battled them previously. You can stay here as long as you wish, with your brother and our family." Anoikis left after several years and is currently seaching for his father. He comes armed with experience as a bowman, a tracker, and with a little knowledge of the arcane arts.
