Ivellious Galanodel of the Galanodels of Waterdeep. Heir to a wealthy merchant family that makes its fortune off of a fleet of cargo ships. Ivellious was on-board one of these ships, learning how to handle a ship and a crew when it was attacked by pirates. He along with the rest of the surviving crew were given the choice of join or die. Ivy (as humans call him) wisely choose to join the pirates. What he learned here is that he absolutely loved the pirate lifestyle and would have likely remained a pirate for all his days had he not been arrested. His family paid for his freedom, and then disowned him for joining the pirate clan. Ivy was without a home for the first time in his young life. He took a job far inland, far enough to where the call of the open ocean could not reach him. This job entailed teaching a young noble lord the finer points of fencing, and history. After the lad grew up, which was rather quickly considering he was a human, Ivy set out on his own. He now travels the roads of Faerun in search of adventure and knowledge, but he tends to steer clear of the ocean and his dubious past.
