Ala'naste, which translates to Lightning bearer, comes from an old drow family known for their fighting skills. Over the centuries, they've developed an ability to make themselves indispensable to their employers and were rewarded as such. On the odd occasion when their employers house was defeated my another (which required overwhelming odds), they were, as a rule, immediately employed by the victors.
