Oki's fraternal grandparents spent most of WWI in American internment camps in California. Oki's maternal grandparents were among the few Holocaust survivors of WWII from the Nazi concentration camps. After the war, both sets of grandparents wanted to get far away from the horrors they were put through in the war and so they moved to New York to get a new start... by the 1950's, they found themselves neighbors and with a common yet odd bond. Their two children formed an unlikely friendship and soon they wre inseparable. By the early 1970's they were wed, and soon thereafter had Oki.

Oki had a passion for the arts, music, film and journalism. She went to the finest of schools. Eventually one day, someone convinced her to put aside her dreams of making it big on Broadway and to think practical, and so she became a professional journalist. Eventually she worked her way up the ranks and landed a job as a war corrsepondent for FOX News in Iraq.
