Xurena's mother died of complication less then four hours after her birth. Before her death Xurena's mother swore that Mystra's spirit came down and touched baby Xurena bestowing upon her a mark and a great blessing. It appeared to Xurena's father and others that her poor mother was delirious with the trauma of the birth. And her mark was only a birthmark. Upon Xurena's 13th birthday a small band of Orcs attacked her small town, Xurena was cornered by four Orcs who's breath smelled of roten flesh. In terrible fear Xurena closed her eyes and all she could think was that she must be dreaming and wished that she was safely in her bed Asleep. A strange and exhilarating sensation flowed through her, and she began reciting words she had never heard let alone spoken before. When she opened her eyes the orcs were fast asleep. After that her father realized that her mother was not delirious at all, that Xurena had been bestowed with magical powers. But the ignorant town folk saw her as a demon and a witch. By Xurena's 16th year, Ashtin the only son of the town's mayor whom had been attempting to bed Xurena since she was 13, had enough rejection and humiliation. Ashtin convinced the supersitious town elders that Xurena is a demon and if she is allowed to live any longer she'll grow powerful enough to destroy the whole town. The elders agreed that Xurena will be burned at the stake, next dawn. Her father was able to intervene enough to sneak her out of town, but at the cost of his life. Knowing that her life has cost the lives of both her parents she has vowed to make it a meaningful life. Now Xurena wonders from town to town spreading Mystra's word and hoping to discover more about her blessing, her curse.
