"Perhaps one day, when you have grown wiser, we may consider you our own again. It saddens me that it had to come to this, but ours is a life of strict guidelines. Take good care of yourself in the meantime," remarked Father Sparreto with a heavy heart as he closed the doors to the monastery. Grimbergen solemnly walked away from the cloister, his dreams shattered. He could not face his parents, after all they sacrificed to grant him acceptance into this holy brotherhood. He had undone all that with a prank which hurt many in the monastery. His formal training hadn''t even begun yet, and now he was cast out with no useable skills.
He knew that he must redeem his name with good works around the lands. How he would accomplish that, though, remains to be seen.
After his capture by a band of slavers and the subsequent escape following a shipwreck, Grimbergen joined up with a band of ex-slaves who were also freed with that incident. This crew of adventurers includes Maglor the half-elven bard, the fiesty rogue Polradia, Spag Hetti the quarter-(not half)-orc gladiator, the holy Brother Grish whom he sometimes looks upon enviously, Kyililana the young and timid elven ranger, and Vren, the blue elven wizard who shares a similar bond of smoking halfling weed with Grimbergen.
