Having been lured by the siren call of adventure since her early sixties, Galia has always had a special fascination for the shorter-lived races and their intriguing. This caused her to leave her forest settlement, the elven tree city of Elandroul behind and become an adventurer early in her life. She joined up with a band of traveling dwarves that had unintentionally roamed into her elven village, to the great perplexion of her elven kin as well as the dwarves themselves. (She's always been particularly fascinated by the dwarves. The common skepticism among her kind towards those stout mountain-delving creatures only served to nurture her curiosity.) Regarded as young and reckless (and even foolish at times) by her ilk, she can be quite spirited and impulsive, even by human reckoning. Behind her youthful recklessness lies a genuine good intent, however, and if she does not perish before reaching elven maturity, she is bound to receive a few lessons in humility that may perhaps grant her deeper wisdom, moulding her into a positive force in the world. When Galia first arrived in a city of the humans, Radisi, she was shocked and appalled by the apparent servitude of the female sex. Having been raised among the elves, whose culture has advanced beyond all gender oppression over time, this imbalance of power between the sexes was completely new and formerly unknown to her. She decided she would do what she can to help the oppressed women of the human race. She has yet not discovered the standing of females in the society of her favorite race the dwarves, however. She is anxious to learn more about the political situation of the dwarven females.
Galia's weapon of choice is and always has been the longbow, since the early days of orcish assaults upon her home settlement. Her fascination with the cultures of other races, her vivid imagination and her musical talent combine to make her an excellent vessel of bardic expression, and she wields a lute with greater competence and confidence than even her trusted bow.
Galia's impulsive, compassionate nature, her creativity and her love of the night, the moon and the mystical as well as her feminist sympathies have together inspired her to turn to the moon goddess of Selûne for spiritual guidance. Although she is a devout believer and servant of Selûne, she is not a cleric. Instead she strives to honor the radiant goddess by means of her artful composition and performance. She especially enjoys playing soft spiritful ballads on her lute in the moonlight at night, in Selûne's honor.
One night while playing a ballad at the local inn a human male asked her to do a private show for his wife just outside of town. She accepted, and headed out of town the next day to find the house. Upon entering the house, however, she was greeted by 15 men that promptly beat her to the ground and put her to sleep. She awoke days later to find herself tied up and packed into the hold with a number of other chained humanoid in the creaking hold of a great ship, enroute to an unknown destination. With throat dried out from thirst she asked a passing guard for a drink. He quickly obliged her, to her surprise, but she realized why as soon as she once again started dozing off from the sleeping potion in the drink. After another period of unconsciousness of unknown length she was awoken by a stream of cold ocean water, pouring in from a hole in the ship's hull. Finding her bonds miraculously cut, she clung firm hold of a piece of the ship in hope that it might save her from a watery demise.
Those who get to know Galia soon learn about the intense hatred she harbours towards orcs. Most who know her suspect that this comes from some traumatic experience in her earlier life, but few can honestly claim to know the truth of the subject matter. Since drifting ashore on the forgotten island of Elben Aator, Galia has travelled the island erratically with the small bunch of slaves that survived the wreckage - poor as a pauper, but alive and free.
