Darryn was born in the coastal village of Port Hunver, a town so small and isolated they welcomed with open arms Darryn’s unwed mother. They weren’t even too shocked when it turned out that his unnamed father must have been elven. Darryn began working on the sea, in the local fishing fleet, at the tender age of 10. He earned his nickname when he was twelve. For three straight weeks, every net Darryn pulled in happened to contain a dolphin. The moniker stuck and he decided he liked it, because it fit his contrary nature.. His life continued to be tied to the sea, at the age of 14 he shipped out on the pirate ship CATASTROPHE as a deckhand. Born to sail, he rose through the ranks rapidly, with shipmates and adversaries alike commenting that if he would kill a dolphin then he wouldn’t mind killing anything or anyone else. Darryn eventually became first mate on the ship HATRED under the feared Captain Dronos. He thrived onboard the HATRED until the captain was murdered under mysterious circumstances. Equally mysterious is how Darryn escaped the hangman, a fate that befell the majority of his shipmates.
