Seeking adventure seemed the thing to do to get out from under my parents control. They seem overbearing at times, but it is to them I owe my gratitude. Without the discipline they have given me, I doubt I would have survived my first meeting with the denizens of the world. I understand now, why they pushed me so hard to be the best at whatever profession I chose. I just wish they had been more supportive of my becoming a mage. Many people of my village are wary of magic, even though old Emric risked his life to save that collection of cottages on more than one occasion. I hope one day to return, and take up that burden, as Emric had. To serve with honor, and courage, and to make Emrics memory live on through me.
Chromista left her cottage at the age of 16 to live with Emric, and become his apprentice. He was a kindly old man, interested in passing on his knowledge to an attentive pupil. Emric would sometimes take her on journeys into the surrounding forest in search of herbs and such, sometimes teaching her lesions in the fresh outdoors. On special occasions, he would teleport them around the forest as a game. Chromista grew to love these travels, though she did not know that Emric was using this game as training. Emric chose to make Chromista feel magic an exciting, even glamorous thing using these activities. He wanted her to have a love of magic, be excited about learning, and see it used as a force for good.
Two years later, Master Emric passed in his sleep, leaving his modest tower to his apprentice. Chromista does not yet feel up to filling Emrics shoes. She therefore seeks a life of adventure to prove to herself she is capable of filling the role of village defender. She sealed Emrics tower, and left all his possessions, taking only her own spell book and the few components necessary to begin her adventure.

Ma'gwina is Chromistas mother, and Brona her father.
Things Chromista doesn't know.
-----------------------
Ma'gwina and Brona were adventurers together, long before Chromista was born. Her (Half-Elf) father was a Ranger, and her (Half-Elf) mother a Rogue. They have a distrust of magic because the party they were involved with had a mage that went mad, and eventually, turned evil. The mage killed one of their companions and fled. The mage is still alive, but no one knows if he will hunt the others down for vengeance. Since they both have an Elvin heritage, they both also have some magic talent, but choose not to pursue it. Both being of mixed heritage, there were also shunned by society (human, and Elvin), so choose a life of adventuring. They met while adventuring, fell in love, and conceived a child. Unfortunatly, they didn't know Ma'gwina was pregnant at the time they were fighting their companion, Mage Torganais, and are un-aware of the effects his spells may have caused to their unborn child.
Chromista has no idea why she chose to be a mage. She felt drawn to this profession, more than any other, though her father urged her along other paths, extolling the virtues of a quiet forest life. Neither parent wanted her to become an adventurer, but considering their own past, and their reasons for being adventurers, could not persuade Chromista to follow another path.
The villagers know next nothing about Emric, except that on several occasions, he fought hordes of creatures sent to destroy their village; from bands of kobolds, to orc raiders, and even trolls. Everyone assumes these creatures were just bandits, or that they were sent to kill Emric for some past transgression. Emric had also been an adventurer, fought more dangerous creatures, and survived. He had created many enemies during his day, so chose to live a more quiet life in an unknown village. Hoping to end his days of constant struggle, he resolved to forget and hide his past, so that others would not be hurt by it. As time went on, creatures started to attack this village he chose to call home, prompting him to rethink some of his decisions. So, he chose an apprentice to pass his knowledge on to.
When Chromista chose to go on her journey, she did not seek her parents out, so she was unaware that Ma'gwina was pregnate with twins. Eight months after Chromista left, the twin boys, Jervis, and Nadair were born.
