Game History

v1.67 module beta test [06:00 PM 10/17/06 GMT]
Al Dohral is a city just approaching 100 years of age. It was founded as a base of operations by a rich sea-faring merchant (Bennin oz Dohral). The city lay not far from valuable inland resources (timber) and a dwarven city (trade partner). Bennin brought in many friends and allies to populate and manage the growing venture that became the city of Dohral. Today, the decendants of those founders are awash with political intrigue, old and tangled relationships offer much opportunity for a bold adventurers seeking patronage in the city. Further, there are tales of ancient artifacts discovered in the northern wilderness beyond the city. Fell beasts populate the wild places and the threat of orc raiding parties is ever the possibility.

This module is complete in itself, but part of a multi-module campaign. Within this (core) module there are more than 300 areas to explore (nearly 100 outdoor maps and over 200 interior maps). The city offers shipboard travel to a half-dozen nearby villages and towns, as well as land access to a vast expanse of sparsely settled and total wilderness areas. Aside from the urban and rural outdoor areas, this module offers extensive city sewers, a palace, numerous inns and apartments for PC lodging, a college, two tutorial areas (both found in NUBIE U.) and some really tricked-out area designs. This is an ORIGINAL SETTING. A website dedicated to the campaign is available at

This module is the first release of the campaign. It is in a final test stage (late BETA) and in DESPERATE NEED OF YOUR FEEDBACK. Currently, we need to load the server with as many players as we can to test for lag. A forum dedicated to the campaign is available at

Priests (at this time) are played as non-deity specific - the pantheon is _almost_ completed and will be plugged-into the module later when the rest of the debugging is done (the deity system is unique and _dynamic_ ... simply put, if you like priest characters, you gotta see this baby in action). There are NO restrictions on PC class, and no hard rules on character race (tho we would appreciate few gnomes and those only played by veterans of the campaign). All PCs are ’from afar’ and all arrive in the game by way of a shipboard journey gone awry amid stormy seas - thus you are all new in the city of Dohral.

All PCs are given a number of tokens which are spent one at a time when re-spawning. When a PC runs out of these tokens, permenant death is the result. These tokens can be awarded by deities/temples for successful quests and by DMs for particularly good role playing.

Resting is limited (no more frequent than once per six hours) and, unless one is a RANGER, BARBARIAN, MONK, or ROGUE, requires gear such as a bed, bedroll or tent.

HAK PACK PAGE - http://members.fortunecity.com/dragonizer/al_dohral_hak_page.html

A word on play style.... In my campaigns, this one included, even the grim dark ones, the NPCs still have a sense of humor (though in dark campaigns these tend to sarcasm). Who could live life without humor? I don’t mind if a PC cracks a joke either, all the better if it can be done In Character (IC) but Out-Of-Character (OOC) humor is acceptable too in small doses and marked OOC for clarity. We are all here to have fun, and immsersion is nice but drowning is just overkill. I like to think we should not take ourselves overly-serious, doubly so our PCs. This does not mean I’ve built a punny yuk-fest of a module here. The campaign itself is serious enough, the NPCs take their situations with appropriate gravity. That said, there are plenty of places in this game that will make one chuckle if not make a witty comment from time-to-time. Indulge. Be polite about it, but by all means have fun and let the next player have his/her fun too. In this campaign, it is better to be on your toes than stepping on anyone elses’.

PC killing is allowed, we are full on PVP in almost every area (there _are_ logical exceptions). Again, we are all here to have fun. If your idea of fun is PKing, well, be prepared to reap what you sew. As long as proper role-playing is observed (e.g. your PC has a bona fide axe to grind with another PC, that is OK, but if a PLAYER has an axe to grind with another PLAYER - I strongly suggest you take it elsewhere because I will NOT tolerate such BS. This is my game and I will BAN obvious morons. Morons: you are warned.

Guilds are available here! I intend to encourage guilds and any interested in creating a guild are encouraged to contact an admin via the forum (link included above).

HAK-N-SLASH vs. ROLE PLAY I encourage ROLE PLAY, HAK-N-SLASH happens in ROLE PLAY from time-to-time. There are plenty of things to kill in this campaign, and plenty of reasons to kill them. You can avoid combat or seek it as you please. Sometimes HAK-N-SLASH will come to you. Deal with it. This is a _violent_ game world, full of characters with dizzying arrays of weaponry and damaging magical spells too, you simply _must_ expect to mix-it-up on occasion. How often that occasion is is largely left up to the player. Have fun.
