Into the Realms Sunday 8: Wicked Tales and Whispered Rumors [02:15 AM 02/24/03 GMT]
All over Brighton the gossip of the ragtag band of adventurers has spread like mold across the floor of High Moor No one seems to know what to think or exactly how to act towards these reputed heroes In everyone s tone and across each visage mixed emotions dance and play from elation and relief at the return of their Village Elder to outright fear as to whom or what lies in wait watching the town from High Moor Other expressions crease the brows of the citizens also Anger frustration distrust shock Words are heard echoing from the inn s doorway I realize they are willful anyone would need to be to face what they have confronted but why would they save the Elder and help us only to treat him with disrespect and then turn their backs upon our now worse situation grave news indeed they killed all the bandits why were they cold and callous towards Lord Geigers Now disheartened and disorganized with no concrete plan or idea the adventurers sit under the oaks in front of the inn pondering their dire situation and that of Brighton and what interest all of this may have for them Talk flies of anger towards some in the Village Council Several will no longer even speak to those who lead Brighton Others wish to move on to distant cities and towns where their skills are more appreciated or so they think The eyes and echoes from High Moor may have taken a darker interest in them though and fleeing may not make the nightmares go away Brighton has certainly taken on the semblance of a horrible dream as several discovered from Lord Geigers after their return and yet others overhead in the inn There is more to fear than some unknown being deep in the dark recesses of the vast High Moor Brighton Keep intended to protect the town from attacks and incursions has been sabotaged on an almost nightly basis Tools are broken or disappear Ropes upon the scaffolds are found frayed and fires have been set to some of the platforms Always echoing noises and strange lights are seen south of the Keep at night and several guards have not returned from their investigations To make matters worse several Keep workers have gone missing and it has been discovered that they did not flee town as several have reported sinister growling and rustlings in the camp at night A blood trail was also seen leading north from the camp near the stonemason s house into the marsh If this Keep is not completed Brighton has little in the way of defense and yet the adventurers have no desire to protect or assist those whom they feel have dishonored them Will they stay and fight against that which seems bent on destroying Brighton from within If they leave will they be hunted anyway for their interference with The Beautiful s plans Can they work out their differences and once again band together as a united force As they talk and the strange echoes in the night give way to another sunrise the decisions weigh heavily upon them
