Flight of The King [08:30 PM 09/04/03 GMT]
War rages in the once peaceful kingdom of Glastar A great army lays siege to the capital city Tarstana but has so far been unable to penetrate the formidable defenses mounted by its determined people under the leadership of King Doltan In over five hundred years no invading force has breached the city walls however never has such a force been pitted against them A collaboration of evil has swept through the kingdoms outlying towns and settlements like a scythe through wheat Those who where able fled to the safety of Tarstana The warlord Kronus is undoubtedly behind this unholy alliance of man and Gnolls His ambitions on claiming Glastars fertile lands for his own people are well known but until now all his attempts at invasion have been fiercely repelled by the formidable Glastarian army The attacks on the city have grown less frequent over the last week as the offensive forces seem disheartened by the staunch defenses their most determined assaults have so far been unable to crack Several legions of the Glastarian army are in the final stages of preparing a surprise counter strike designed to rout the would be invaders A daring and risky tactic King Doltan is hoping the element of surprise and apparent lack of co ordination in the enemy force will be enough to sway the battle As the great bards say events hang in the balance You are a member of the Kings own elite Spatnaz Regiment and have been summoned to the palace by King Doltans most trusted advisor the seer Jahad Gorat in most unusual of circumstances In the middle of the night one of Jahads personal servants roused you from your sleep and relayed the urgent message with instructions not to speak of it to anyone not even your commanding officer You gather your gear and respond to the mysterious message making your way to the palace as instructed As you wait in the courtyard several other Spatnaz arrive also in response to Jahads summoning it transpires As you talk in hushed tones the great doors swing open spilling torchlight into the courtyard The guard peers out suspiciously and ushers you inside
